A Walmart Foundation funded national, pilot project exploring the demand for green jobs for women and determining what programs and services can successfully prepare and link women with the jobs and companies that would best suit their needs.

Green jobs are expansive in definition, as industries across the country begin to green their practices, products and services.

Expanding the view of what the green economy and jobs encompass was crucial to job placement.

The green economy reflects the local economy and training programs must stay attuned to the growth and political priorities of emerging industries.

Women Vets and Green Jobs

Women veterans often have multiple barriers to moving forward with their employment transition, and therefore needed to tend to other issues, such as learning about their VA-provided health benefits, before securing a job.

Funding For Training and Women

The state program, “Helps me try to sustain whatever my standard of living is now. I'm here today and I have an appointment. But I'm taking a gamble that I might lose that money, but I really need this training. This is the bigger picture, but it is bothering me the entire day. I'm enjoying it, but then, it's like, I'm going to be okay…”
