Summer Wines and a Big Brazilian Red!Last week we tasted 40 new rosés, and to be honest we were disappointed by how few
exciting wines are being offered. However, our tasting panel has done the hard work
and found a few winners that are definitely worth buying:
Rosés
1. Sainsbury's has a number of rosés on the shelves, but their best value ones we found
(and were very surprised by) were their Winemaker's Selection Rosés from various
countries. They are really decent and well priced for the quality. They are currently all on
offer as well! http://goo.gl/r98fwN

2. In Waitrose we purchased a lovely Provencale rosé , Espirit de Buganay Rosé 2013,elegant, savoury, lovely balance. Keep looking out for specials as it has regularly been on
offer for as little as £7.49 and we assessed it blind against all the others as being worth
£8.50. Online today it is no longer on offer and is back up to £10.49, but it is very good if
you don't mind splashing out a bit more. http://goo.gl/jMYras
3. Often big wine brands do not offer good value, but we continue to be surprised and
delighted that Mateus Rosé is still a very well made, sound, and great value wine. Generally
on offer for around £5 (Asda and Tesco £4.98 and £4.99, and Sainsbury at £5.25),we think it is well worth £5.50+ and is a real crowd pleaser.

You may also like to try these great Aussie Chardonnays:
1. The Little Penguin Chardonnay (Sainsbury's at £6) came out of our tasting this weekvery well. It is absolutely typical of the lovely ripe, tropical, oaky style which many people
love. We value it at £7. http://goo.gl/wHbDgc
2. Next of Kin Chardonnay 2011 from Xanadu in Margaret River (Sainsbury's at £8.50), is
a snip! This is a classy, restrained and beautifully balanced Aussie Chardonnay worth £10 a
bottle. http://goo.gl/fQTTkw
Big Reds
We found two great value, very big and intensely fruity (and alcoholic) reds this week.
Perfect for BBQs!
1. The Co-Op have a really good traditional style Amarone della Valpolicella Villa Annaberta
2010, intense with masses of sweet ripe fruit and a grip of firmness, worth £18 a bottle and
being sold for £13.77.
2. Excited about the World Cup this week, why not watch it with a Brazilian wine? At
£10 M&S have a big, well made Brazilian Red, Teroldego Intenso 2013, that has masses of
character, fruit and intensity. We think it is very fairly priced at £10. http://goo.gl/ymyySy
