Yellow Group Kinder, Weekly Reflection

Term 1, Week 3

This week the children engaged in some new activities. The threading was very

popular and the children used a range of beads, straws and recycled materials

to thread onto fishing wire. We then hung the children’s creations up in the

room. This activity helps the children to develop their fine motor skills which

then helps them with early writing skills.

We introduced the Aboriginal Acknowledgement of Country to the children this

week. We discussed the importance of the acknowledge and how we will say

this everyday. We then looked at the Aboriginal flag and then discussed what

each colour represents. We also read a dreamtime story named ’When the

Snake Bit the Sun,’ and discussed how dreamtime stories are stories that are

passed down verbally through generations.

The children have also been learning about patterns in relation to our ELSA

concept this term of patterns and relationships. The have had the opportunity

to copy patterns as well as create their own.

This week we also celebrated 2 birthdays. Ethan’s 5th birthday and Lola’s 4th

birthday .
