Students of the arts learn to think creatively and to solve problems by

imagining various solutions, rejecting outdated rules and assumptions.

Questions about the arts do not have only one right answer.

A study of the arts provides children with an internal glimpse of other cultures and teaches them to be empathetic towards the people of these cultures. This development of compassion and empathy, as opposed to development of greed and a "me first" attitude, provides a bridge across cultural chasms that leads to respect of other races at an early age.

Through music study, students learn the value of sustained effort to achieve excellence

and the concrete rewards of hard work.

Music is designated a core academic subject in the 'No Child Left Behind Act.'

No Child Left Behind Act of 2002, Title IX, Part A, Sec. 9101 (11)

“If I were not a physicist, I would probably be a musician. I often think in music. I live my daydreams in music. I see my life in terms of music. ... I get most joy in life out of music.” ~Albert Einstein~

“Music is a moral law.

It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind,

flight to the imagination, a charm to sadness,

and life to everything.” ~Plato~

“Music causes us to think eloquently.”

~Ralph Waldo Emerson~

“Music is what feelings sound like.”

~anonymous~

“Music begins where words are powerless to express.

Music is made for the inexpressible. I want music to seem

to rise from the shadows and indeed sometimes

to return to them.”  ~Claude Debussy~

“Song is, after all, nothing more or less than

the soundtrack for the human experience.”

~Thomas Hampson and Carla Maria Verdino Süllwold ~

“Music is the movement of sound

to reach the soul

for the education

of its virtue.” ~Plato~

“Without music, life is a journey through

a desert.”~Pat Conroy, author~
