Homeless Young People
Who are homeless people?
Substance users, people in poverty, no stable housing, lack of social skills, limited
education, mental health problems, care leavers, people with criminal records,
people at risk of sexual exploitation or trafficking, and running away from violence.
- People who may have one or more of these issues.

Social groups
Family Issues
Lack of formal education
Lack of employment skills
Financial needs
Behavioral issues
Social skills
Cultural and Language issues
Emotional and Physical Health issues
Trust

2. Conditions that encourage Youth Participation
Safe environments
Communication Skills
Being consistent
Building Trust with individuals and groups
Finding out interests of individuals and groups
Self-Knowledge
Remove resource barriers like costs, travel expenses, fees and materials
Build relationships with community stakeholders
Build resources and networks
Make sure that Staff/Volunteers are representative of the group mix e.g.
gender, ethnicity, etc...
Focus on positive results during the process
Share experience and create understanding
Positive Role models
