Vibank and South Shore Schools donated over $11,000 to the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society this spring. Congratulations to the students for helping those afflicted by MS.

The K-7 students at Vibank Regional School broke many school fundraising records. With great incentives, such as an ice cream day and the possibility of Mr. Yanko growing a beard for the rest of the school year, the students raised $4,020.Mr. Yanko has one month left until his next shave.

South Shore School students and families participated in the MS Read-A-Thon in April. Every classroom met their goal of minutes read plus had the added incentive of duct taping Principal, Ms. Sarahs, to the gym wall; It took nearly three rolls of duct tape, but we stuck her up there good! South Shore school raised $7,759 for MS research.

ArtSmart in Edenwold

ArtSmart engages students in the creative process through artistic inquiry into topics that span many different subject areas of the curriculum. In Edenwold, students created a mural which celebrated the town’s centennial while learning about the incredible history prior to and during the European settlement. The mural will be unveiled at the Centennial celebrations on June 9, 2012.

The students learned not only about their community’s past, but also about the creative process and how frustrating, challenging and rewarding it can be.

The group participated in Vimy Ridge national ceremonies and were very proud to have a 70 year-old Legion member with them.
