Operation of AvayaIP 9600/5600 Phones

Connection of IP 96xx/4600/5600 Phones

The recommended installation method for H.323 IP phones uses a DHCP server

DHCP will provide Gatekeeper, TFTP server address, etc.

4600 and 5600 Series H.323 IP phones use DHCP option 176

1600 and 9600 Series H.323 IP Phones use DHCP option 242

The network configuration of a 4600 series IP telephone can carried out using the device itself or using a DHCP server.

Gatekeeper, TFTP server address, etc. can also entered manually at the IP phone

Once powered, an IP phone will initially search for a script file "46xxupgrade.scr" on a TFTP server.

This script file contains data on the software version that is responsible for the IP phone.

Another required file is the 46xxsettings.txt file, which can contain information on the standard programming of the IP phone.

The PC running the Manager can act as TFTP server (note the directory path of the bin-files).

Start up IP 9600/5600 Series Phone

For IP Office 4.2 or later running on an IP500 IP Office system, the full capacity of up to 272 extensions is supported using the IP Office for DHCP.
