• Three separate mine locations complicate cross-site collaboration.

• Integration between business systems such as MES and operational systems were unaligned and complex.

• A 10-meter video wall in a centralized control center to enhance collaboration and decision making

• Leveraged System Platform, Historian, and InTouch OMI with system of systems approach to integrate and visualize data from disparate systems

• Nearly double-digit growth in productivity.

• The CCR environment has improved BRMO’s data quality significantly, with some sources improving more than five-fold.

• Challenges

• Airport control systems handle thousands of signals simultaneously and present this information simply and in context to enable operators to quickly and accurately interpret it.

• The existing control platform required operators to learn up to 20 different technologies and tools, so training was difficult, operations were not smooth, stress was high and costs were rising.

• Solution

• Leveraged System Platform, InTouch HMI, Historian, and Information Server to create an integrated command and control centre for all airport operations

• Developed common interface for all control systems / PLCs regardless of vendor

• Integrated climate, mechanical transport, plumbing, sanitation, lighting, pneumatic waste, low voltage, and fire detection systems

• Results

• The AVEVA solution controls the processes throughout the airport that manage the terminal building, cooling and heating power plant, as well as auxiliary buildings for luggage transport.

• The system, which originally managed 35,000 signals, now handles 700,000 inputs through 80 servers that make up five control environments. In the final phase, signals are expected to increase to nearly one million.
