She replaced Anandiben Patel, who as Governor of Madhya Pradesh was also holding the charge of Chhattisgarh following the demise of Chhattisgarh Governor Balram Das Tandon on August 2018. Anandiben Patel has been transferred as appointed the new as Governor of UP. Bihar Governor Lalji Tandon was also transferred and appointed as the Governor of Madhya Pradesh. Senior Supreme Court advocate Jagdeep Dhankhar was appointed as the new Governor of West Bengal, replacing Keshari Nath Tripathi. BJP member Ramesh Bais has been appointed as the Governor of Tripura, replacing Kaptan Singh Solanki. BJP MLA Phagu Chauhan has been appointed as the Governor of Bihar while RN Ravi as Governor of Nagaland, replacing Padmanabha Acharya. Senior BJP leader from Odisha, Biswa Bhusan Harichandan was appointed as Governor of Andhra Pradesh. He will replace SL Narsimhan, who has been functioning as the Governor for two states- Telangana and Andhra Pradesh since the bifurcation of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh in 2014. Senior BJP leader Kalraj Mishra appointed as the Governor of Himachal Pradesh, replacing Acharya Devvrat, who has been transferred and appointed as the Governor of Gujarat. Judgments in Indian languages President Ram Nath Kovind said maximum number of judgments of the Supreme Court and the high courts should be available in major Indian languages. Inaugurating the new additional building of the Supreme Court, Mr Kovind appreciated the Supreme Court’s open mindedness in developing and deploying soft- ware that translates judgment texts into differ- ent languages. Hall of Fame Indian batting icon Sachin Tendulkar has been inducted into the International Cricket Council's Hall of Fame. He is regarded as the greatest to have played the game along with Sir Donald Bradman and remains the top run- accumulator in both Tests and ODIs. Tendulkar, who retired in November 2013, scored 15,921 runs in Tests and 18,426 in ODIs, both of which remain records. He is the sixth Indian to be inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame. Allan Donald of Australia and Australian woman cricketer Cathryn Fitzpatrick were also inducted in to Hall of Fame. World Hunger A UN report said that more than 821 million people suffered from hunger worldwide last year. It is the third year in a row that the num- ber has raised. The report named, 'The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World', produced by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization and other UN agencies was released on 15 July 2019. It noted that the number of people without enough to eat had risen from 811 million in 2017 and getting to a world where no one is suffering from hunger remains an immense challenge. Jan Jagrukta Abhiyaan The special campaign Jan Jagrukta Abhiyaan launched by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to sensitize and mobilise the community on measures for prevention and control of Vector Borne Diseases (VBDs) like Malaria, Dengue and Chikungunya. Kaushal Yuva Samwaad The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship announced the launch of 'Kaushal Yuva Samwaad' aimed at creating an open dialogue with the youth across all skill train- ing centres to hear their ideas and recommen- dations to help scale up existing programmes. Minister Mahendra Nath Pandey stated that it is the platform to discuss potential issues and solu- tions from the candidates' perspective. Kulbhushan execution stayed International Court of Justice (ICJ) ordered the staying of Kulbushan Jadhav's death sentence. It directed Pakistan to provide effective review and reconsideration of his conviction and sen- tences. ICJ affirmed Jadhav’s right to consular access and notification and directed Pakistan to give him consular access. 15 out of 16 judges ruled in favour of India on merits in the case relating to Indian national Kulbushan Jadhav who is currently on death row in Pakistan. A retired Indian Navy officer, he was sentenced to death by a Pakistani military court on charges of espionage and terrorism in April 2017.
