A.1. Synoptic situation during last 4 days from 17.08.2018 to 20.08.2018
17.08.2018:
The Depression over vidarbha and neighborhood weakened in to a well marked low pressure area and
moved away from the State. An East-west shear zone between 3.1 and 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting
southwards with height runs roughly along latitude 20°N across central India. A low pressure area is likely
to develop over North Bay of Bengal and neighborhood around 19th August.
18.08.2018:
An upper air cyclonic circulation lies over northwest Bay of Bengal off West Bengal- Odisha coasts
Extending up to 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting south-westwards with Height .Under its influence a
low Pressure area is very likely to develop over northwest Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood during next 24
hours. The East west shear zone between 3.1 and 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwards with
Height now runs roughly along latitude 21°N across central India.
19.08.2018:
Under the influence of the cyclonic circulation over northwest Bay of Bengal off West Bengal Odisha
Coasts, a Low Pressure Area has formed over Northwest Bay of Bengal & neighbourhood. Associated
cyclonic circulation extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting south-westwards with Height it is
likely to become more marked during next 24 hours. The East west shear zone between 3.1 and 7.6 km
above mean sea level roughly along latitude 21°N now seen between 3.1 and 5.8 km above mean sea level
tilting southwards with height roughly Along latitude 20°N across central India, A cyclonic circulation lies
over North Interior Karnataka & neighbourhood at 7.6 km above mean sea level.
20.08.2018:
The Low Pressure Area over Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal & Odisha now lies
over Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal & north coastal Odisha. Associated cyclonic
circulation extends upto 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height persists. The East-
west shear zone along latitude 20°N between 3.1 and 5.8 km above mean sea level now seen between 3.6 and
5.8 km above mean sea level tilting southwards with height across central India.

Dry spell Rainfed groundnut is at flowering stage to pegging
stage. In dry spell prevailing areas farmers are
advised to provide irrigation with sprinklers or rain
guns followed by 2% urea solution or 0.5% 19:19:19
on the crop.

Thrips and
jassids
The present weather conditions are favourable for
thrips and jassids attack in groundnut. To control
spray dimethoate @ 400 ml. or imidachloprid @ 60
ml./ 200 L of water per acre.
Flowering stage Gypsum
application Farmers are advised to apply gypsum in groundnut
which is at flowering stage. Apply gypsum @ 200
kg/acre at 5 cm depth in between the crop rows
followed by intercultivation.

crops Sowing In areas where rains are received farmers are advised
to take up alternate crops like redgram, castor, field
bean, cowpea, Horsegram by selecting good varieties
and following seed treatment.

Farmers are advised to take up sowing of contingency crops like redgram, castor, cowpea, kora,
bajra,horsegram instead of rainfed groundnut as as there will be yield reduction in late sown crop.
Groundnut
Farmers are advised to go for the spraying of [email protected] ml/l or Imidacloprid 0.3ml/l or Dimethoate @ 2 ml/l for control of sucking pests in groundnut.
Redgram
Farmers can go for sowing of redgram after receipt of sufficient rainfall for sowing.
They are advised to select medium and short duration varieties viz., ICPL 85063, PRG 176, LRG 52 and
sow at closure of 60 x 20 cm
Apply 8kgs of Nitrogen (17 kg Urea) and 20 kg of Phosphorus (125 kg of SSP) per acre at the time of
sowing.
Castor
Farmers are advised to choose high yielding varieties like Kranthi, Haritha, Jwala and sow at closure
spacing of 60/45 x 45 cm
Seed Rate: 2-2.5 kgs/acre
Treat the seed treatment with Thiram or Captan @ 3g/ kg seed.
Korra
Recommended varieties: SIA-3085,SIA 3156, Suryanandi, Srilakshmi and Prasad, Spacing : 22.5 X 7.5 cm Fertilizer:At the time sowing, apply 8kg of Nitrogen and 8 kg of Phosphorus and top dress 8kg of Nitrogen
after 2 -3 weeks after sowing.
Bajra
Recommended varities: PHB-3, ICMH-356, ICTP 8203, RAJ -171, ICMS -7703, ICMV-221, ICMH-420, ICMH-423, ICMH-451, HHB- 67, RHB -121
Spacing : 45 X 12-15 cm Fertilizer: At the time of sowing 30-30-20 kg of Nitrogen, phosphorous and potash respectively as a
basal and 30 DAS 12 kg/acre of Nitrogen should be applied.
Rice
Nursery stage: Iron deficiency was observed in few parts. To avoid this spray Ferrous Sulphate @5gm/lit,
2 times at 7 days interval.
Maize
Inter cultivation should be done with cultivator at 30-35 DAS to avoid the weeds. To avoid the stem borer incidence apply carbofuran granules @ 3kg/acre. Fall army worm and grain pod borer are observed in parts of Raptadumandaland Hindupur division. Control : Farmers are advised to sprayEmamectin benzoate @0.4 ml/lit (or)Thiomethoxam @2.5ml +
Lamda cyahalothrin@1ml / 1 L of water (or) Poision baiting with 10kg of rice bran + 2kg of jiggery +2lit water - keep overnight for fermentation and add 100g of Thiodicarb before 30 min of application.

Farmers are advised to take up sowing of contingency crops like redgram, castor, cowpea, kora, bajra,horsegram instead of rainfed groundnut as as there will be yield reduction in late sown crop.

Castor

Spacing : 45 X 12-15 cm Fertilizer: At the time of sowing 30-30-20 kg of Nitrogen, phosphorous and potash respectively as a
basal and 30 DAS 12 kg/acre of Nitrogen should be applied.
Paddy
Nursery stage: Iron deficiency was observed in few parts. To avoid this spray Ferrous Sulphate @5gm/lit, 2 times at 7 days interval.
Mango
Farmers are advised to cut the dried, diseased branches and take up pruning of branches and apply manures and fertilizers to the plants as this is the suitable time for pruning.
Cotton
Sucking pest incidence was noticed few parts of the district. For the control of the sucking pest stem application of cotton is recommended i.e., Monocrotophos:
water (1:4) @ 30, 45 DAS or Imidachloprid: water(1:20) @60 DAS is recommended.
Pink boll worm incidence was noticed below ETL level, Though farmers are adviced to take the following measures
Pheromone traps should be installed immediately at the field level for monitoring of the incidence levels on community basis.
Observation of rosette flowers and sampling of green bolls should be done regularly for monitoring and intensity of the field incidence.
Destroy rosette flowers and remove the dropped squares, dried flowers and pre-matured bolls to suppress the pest population periodically at the initial stage.
Maize
Inter cultivation should be done with cultivator at 30-35 DAS to avoid the weeds. To avoid the stem borer incidence apply carbofuran granules @ 3kg/acre.
