Broken Arrow Public Schools (BAPS) strives to provide its staff with state-of- the-art technology tools that generate an interactive classroom and increase student achievement. Because of the number of new technologies implemented over the past few years, BAPS stays on the forefront by offering free summer classes, dubbed Technology Tuesdays, to teach the basics of digital tools currently available to staff. Technology Tuesdays sessions include topics such as Google Apps for Education, iPad apps for grades K-5, SMART Board basics, Schoolnet, Canvas, Safari Montage, Pinterest for Educators and website training. “Technology Tuesdays classes will be conducted in a relaxed environment, allowing participants to walk away with solid ideas about how to use technology in their classrooms,” said Beth Johnson, Schoolnet coordinator and Technology Tuesdays instructor. “As Broken Arrow Public Schools teaches our students to be college and career ready, integrating technology is a must. There isn’t a better way to learn those technology skills than with dynamic instructors who are passionate about learning right alongside you.” If you are a BAPS staff member, please click here to see a detailed description about each class as well as a schedule of dates and times. Space is limited to 24 participants, and employees can sign up here. For more information, contact Cynde Wallace or Beth Johnson at 918-259- 5700. Can’t make it to any of these sessions this summer? Additional technology trainings can be found via the 8th Floor, which is free to all BAPS employees. For the upcoming schedule, please visit www.eighthfloor.org. VOLUME FIVE, ISSUE 18 | MAY 6, 2015 Broken Arrow Public Schools is an equal opportunity educational institution. For the second year in a row, Broken Arrow High School seniors will celebrate graduation at the nationally renowned BOK Center in downtown Tulsa on May 19, 2015. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the ceremony begins at 7 p.m. Because there is not dedicated parking at the BOK Center, patrons are encouraged to allow ample time to park and arrive for the ceremony. There are several paid parking facilities located near the BOK Center which can be viewed by clicking here. Can’t make it to the ceremony? Tune in on ArrowVision.tv on the night of the ceremony for live streaming of the event online. From the Superintendent Teacher Appreciation Week This week is Teacher Appreciation Week and, as we near the end of another school year, there is no better time to show your appreciation for educators. Arguably, teachers are one of the most important role models and mentors in a child’s life. If asked who influenced you the most as a child besides your parents, you would likely name one of your favorite teachers. Maybe this teacher encouraged you when you felt like giving up, gave you a compliment when you were down on yourself, recognized a talent or skill that had gone unnoticed by others or simply smiled at you each day making you feel like the most important kid in the class. And that is what every teacher does each day across our district – provide unconditional support to each individual child. As an educator, I know this is how great teachers make a difference for students and we are very fortunate in Broken Arrow to have a district full of educators committed to the success of our students. Every day, these tireless individuals give it their all for our kids, many times sacrificing time with their own families after hours to spend time with their students. They do so out of a dedication to a cause bigger than themselves and out of love. So, during National Teacher Appreciation Week, I hope you will take a few moments to thank an educator, whether it be your child’s current teacher, a co-worker or a teacher from your own past. Write them a note, pick up the phone, post a message on social media or just stop in to tell them how much you appreciate the difference they make. I can guarantee you, this small gesture will mean the world to them.

    Teacher Appreciation Week

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week and, as we near the end of another school year, there is no better time to show your appreciation for educators.
