MATHS PROBLEM OF THE WEEK WINNER FOR WEEK 7

IS:

Bede Turnbull Answer: 888 + 88 + 8 + 8 + 8 = 1000.

During the last few weeks we’ve had two special events which have attracted a significant number of visitors to the school, the Dad’s Breakfast and Grandparents’ Day. Both were a great success.

As is usually the case the good feed attracted a large number of fathers, all of whom appeared to enjoy the morning. Their presence, in turn, generated a good degree of excitement among the children.

Grandparents’ Day was equally successful with all K-2 students and some 3-6 musicians providing entertainment and the P & C a great morning tea. This was followed by classrooms visits, where grandchildren could show their grandparents some of the work they’ve done during first term.

My thanks go to all those who contributed to making those days as successful as they were. It is great to see so many in the community interested enough in their children’s and grandchildren’s education to take the trouble to visit at those times.

ONE OF OUR STUDENTS HAS BEEN

DIAGNOSED WITH SHINGLES.

PLEASE SEE THE DEPARTMENT OF

HEALTH FACT SHEET ATTACHED.

Grandparents’ Day Last week we invited the grandparents of our students into the school for Grandparents’ Day. We open our school up for this visit every year during Senior’s Week and it’s always an enjoyable day. The grandparents and seniors had a lovely morning watching the K-2 performances, having morning tea, watching the musical items in the hall and touring the classrooms to see what the students at CPS have been learning about. Thank you to everybody who played a part in making Grandparents’ Day at CPS another successful one.

On Thursday 22 March, eight representatives from Coonabarabran Public School went to southern area trials in Gunnedah. We played four teams and two players from CPS were selected to play in the possibles vs probables game, but none made it to the next level. We all had fun and enjoyed the experience. We would like to thank the parents who attended the day. Ian Whittall and Jesse Somervaille

2H CLASS FOCUS TERM 1 2012

Hello everyone from 2H. We have had a very busy term adjusting to our new routine. We have maths first up every morning. So that Mrs. Hannah knows we are at school, we have to hurry and put our bees in the hive before we go to maths. We have been looking at how things “grow and change” for our Science and H.S.I.E. study. Mrs Hannah has measured us all to see how tall we are and then we will be measured again in about 2 month’s time to see how much we have grown. We have also had our photos taken and will have them retaken later in the year, to see how we have changed.

We studied The Life Cycle of the Frog and boy do they change their appearance as they grow! We are glad we don’t change that much. Our frog cycles were coloured, cut out, and then pasted onto black paper. Then we had to choose the correct sentence information and match it to the pictures. That was the tricky part but Mrs Hannah and Miss Bowman managed to keep us on track. We have had fun things happen this term like C.S.I.R.O. exploration science, maths workshops, Dad’s breakfast and Grandparent’s day. We are now looking forward to Easter and the holidays for a rest.
