Dear Friend,Welcome to Chabad House!
Secular, Unaffiliated, Reform, Religious, Sefardi, Ashkenazi, Liberal, Conservative… at Chabad you will find a great mix of people from so many different backgrounds, who share in common the Jewish soul.
“Too religious,” “I don’t read Hebrew,” and “I don’t want to be judged,” are some of the common fears we hear from those who have never come to Chabad. Notwithstanding, every person who walks through our doors is surprised by how accepted they are and how welcomed they feel.
At Chabad, one’s knowledge of Judaism, level of observance or political affiliation are of no bearing, we connect, soul to soul. Celebrating, learning and growing together in a safe, non-judgmental, welcoming and family environment where your personal Jewish discovery experience will be nurtured in a most inspiring way.
Whether you’re looking for a synagogue to call home, or a community to call your own, the Chabad House is a family where we grow together.
So please, come by for a visit, try a class or a Holiday event, pop in for a quick schmooze with the Rabbi, or just to check us out. Join the thousands who have become part of the colorful and international Chabad family.
From our NY Deli event to our lecture series, an out-of-the-box Hebrew School for children and many thought provoking classes for adults, we strive to provide food for every hungry soul.
You’ll be pleased to have met a vibrant Jewish community and experience the richness, beauty, and joys of Judaism.

From a Palestinian Muslim to an Israeli Jew
Mark Halawa’s Palestinian Muslim upbringing left him blaming the world’s troubles on the Jews.
He was indoctrinated with antisemitism from a young age. His father helped establish the PLO along with Yasser Arafat, a fellow Palestinian engineer living in Kuwait, and hardline Islamic classes were mandatory!
In 2004, he was shocked to discover that his maternal Grandma Rowaida was Jewish and that Jewish law considered him a Jew, effectively making Halawa the very enemy he grew up to hate.
Halawa’s curiosity led him to start learning about Judaism and he has since made Israel his home. Hear his riveting life story and gain insight into the mindset of Arab youth today. Learn how through his personal journey, he has become an outspoken voice for understanding and tolerance in the face of oppression and anti-Semitism.

Ben Stern, 97, survived two ghettos, nine concentration camps and two death marches. The Nazis identified him as one of the dangerous Jews of the Warsaw Ghetto. Stern had to face the Nazi’s a second time 30 years later in 1978, when the Nazis planned a march in Skokie, Illinois. Stern built a national following with more than 750,000 people to protest the Nazi rally. The Nazi’s cancelled their march.
Stern is the subject of the award-winning documentary film, “Near Normal Man”. The film focuses on critical conversation for all people today. Stern’s personal story and activist for justice commitment creates impact, honest conversation, lasting inspiration and commitment to responsibility for oneself and for others, now at this critical chapter in U.S. history. He's a man who has lived a life and comes with a message you'll never forget.
