5 years of service

THANK YOUFOR YOUR SERVICE JEFF!

On Friday, August 19th, members of UWSP Facility Services enjoyed some time together during the annual Summer Meeting at the M&M Building.

Director of Facilities Planning, Carl Rasmussen shared his unique and informative presentation covering the history of the UWSP campus buildings and property and also outlined the campus’ future from a facilities services perspective. Thank you Carl!

Also presenting on August 19th was Facility Services Director, Paul Hasler who presented information regarding the great efforts that all Facility Services members have made throughout the year in order to make a positive difference on the university campus. Paul also acknowledged the appreciation that he and the campus community have for our dedicated staff.

The Summer Meeting included Facility Services staff taking part in a ‘team building’ exercise through the use of water balloons! The images to follow are from that exercise.

English inventor Edgar Ellington decided in 1950 to create a waterproof sock using latex and cotton. But after filling his creation with water to test its quality, he noticed a small stream of water gushing from the side. As he threw the water-filled sock onto the table in anger, it burst — and so a second idea was born. Not long after, Ellington's "water grenades" were the first water balloons to hit the market.

NFL Week One!

Week 1 of the NFL season is right around the corner! On Thursday, September 8th, the Carolina Panthers travel to face the Denver Broncos, the team that beat them last in the biggest game of the year, Superbowl 50 by a score of 24-10.

The Green Bay Packers travel to Jacksonville to take on the Jaguars September 11th.

The Chicago Bears travel to Houston to play the Texans September 11th.

The Minnesota Vikings are in Tennessee to take on the Titans, also on September 11th.

The Detroit Lions play the Indianapolis Colts in Indiana later that same day.

Congratulations also to Fred Hopfensperger and Tammy Larson for correctly identifying the image at right as part of the Communication Arts Center (CAC). Be looking for more image challenges in upcoming editions of the ‘Huddle’ newsletters!

Sincere thanks to Painter Gil Kvatek and Lynette Kvatek for setting up the collection boxes shown above in both M&M and Nelson Hall which were used to collect new school supplies. The supplies went to benefit children in Portage County through the ‘Project Fresh Start’ School Supply Drive. Thanks to all the people that took the time to purchase and donate supplies for the drive. Your generosity is very much appreciated!

Three fans on the west coast were bemoaning the sorry state of their favorite NFL football team.

“I blame the general manager,” said the first fan. “If he signed better players, we’d be a great team.”

“I blame the players,” said the second fan. “If they made more of an effort, we’d score some points.”

“I blame my parents,” said the third. “If I’d been born in Green Bay, I’d be supporting a decent team!”
