• Additional discount for orders above 25000 EUR. Still finding a procedure to follow in order to get this extra 4% discount. Latest years this discount has not been applied.

• SIMBA box. Siemens has offered a 12 % discount, far from the 25 % (average) for most of the products included in the contract.



Technical support

• HiGRAPH is out phased and not supported anymore.

• Special Keyword for support requests.

• For high priority cases Siemens offers 1000 credits Value Card to reach directly the highest level in the Siemens support line.

• New Siemens support webpage. Presentation to be scheduled

Open Issues:

• RAMSES case closed and now reopened due to other problems detected. Problem handled by the external company who delivered the system

• WinCCOA vs. S7-1500 and S7-1200. Compatibility mode available in PVSS to connect to those PLCs by using absolute addresses. Symbolic addressing available in long term.

• TIA Portal migration errors. With latest version of TIA portal the migration seems to work better even if there still errors in the PID Siemens library.

• Touch Panel performance. Performance issues presented to Siemens. Siemens will analyse one of our projects to see what is the source of the problem.


Operator panels performance



HMI

• Many panels will be phased-out in 2014 (6 years spare parts ensured)

• Video support (IP cameras inside)

• Panels Diagnostics through the PLC (life bit)

• Multi Touch functionality

• Memory card or USB stick can load the HMI panel application

Request form CERN:

• Diagnostic facilities to be improved.


OPC UA

• CERN interested in the evolution of OPC UA especially embedded in PLC.

• OPC UA server in redundant mode possible (only 2008 Server available).


PLC roadmap S7-1200

• Significant increase of memory for S7-1200 up to 125 Kb in 2013.

• 2 Mb Memory card available.

• CAN interface available, 3 cards maximum 16 nodes each.

• Wi-Fi embedded for short distance (1m).


PLC roadmap S7-1500

• Security increased. New S7 protocol enhanced. Old S7 protocol still supported.

• Small display at the front with diagnostics ad commands. Foldable, replaceable hot swap.

• MPI interface removed. Profinet interface by default.

• Two integrated Ethernet interfaces.

• External Ethernet cards available. With VPN.

• Internal archive until 26 different measurements.

• Hot swappable modules with active backplane.

• Modules not compatible with S7 300.



IPC

• Availability: 6 years guaranteed on the market and 5 years spare parts.

• Nanobox IPC227D: Intel Atom Micro: 600 MHz - 1.3 GHz

• Microbox IPC427D: Intel i7 1.5 GHz, Turbo boost included.

CERN request:

• Windows embedded. Operating system updates not frequent.

• Windows embedded roadmap stable.


WinAC

• WinAC RTX runs as a driver in Windows.

• Siemens foresees to decouple as much as possible Windows and WinAC. Currently WinAC RTX can survive to a blue screen from Windows. (OB84 is triggered).

• Performance of WinAC not dependant on storage media.

• ODK (Open development kit) available to allow interaction between PC and controller. It can run on the real-time side of windows.

• WinAC RTX can run in normal PC. Simulation possible.


TIA Portal roadmap

V12 end of January 2013 >> V12 SP1 in Q2 2013 >> V12.5 end of 2013 >> New version end 2014.

Features V12:

• SCL as standard programming language for all controllers.

• Size of the blocks increased and bigger than 64K

• Versioning can be applied to libraries. Automatic update of project when library changes.

Features V12.5

• Importing Source files via API to import/export sources in xml format.

Features version > V12.5:

• Object orientation (e.g. inheritance)

• Multiuser

• Versioning SVN integrated

• Full API to Open project, Compile, import (even hardware).

SIMIT

• Includes a Software PLC simulator which is ready to be in the market.

• SIMIT can interface a third party simulator tool (OPC or shared memory in the future).

• SIMIT focus on Simatic (simulator for automation).

• Templates are based on PCS7 but can be adapted (e.g. UNICOS).

• Symbols for the periphery to be used. UNICOS does not create symbols for I/O.
