Do you feel a little tired?

You’ve been on a very long journey for the past 12 months!

With the passing of another year we are closer to death, judgment and eternity.

Perhaps setting some goals is in order.

Eight Worthwhile GoalsPhilippians 2:7-15

4

Be more faithful in attendance

What could possibly be more important? Heb. 10:24-25; Matt. 18:20; Rev. 4:2-11

We should never seek to an excuse for not attending.

Perfect attendance is not required for salvation, but if attendance seems a chore we need to examine ourselves: 2 Cor. 13:5; Matt. 6:33; 5:6; 18:20

Worthwhile Goals

Give liberally, cheerfully, and with purpose

This is God’s requirement for us: 2 Cor. 9:7; 1 Cor. 16:1-2

Can’t do the Lord’s work without these sacrifices: Jn. 3:16; 2 Sam. 24:24; 2 Cor. 9:7; Acts 20:35

We have obligations that transcend our giving on the Lord’s Day: Lk. 10:25-37; Jas. 1:27; Matt. 25:31-46

God’s Word warns against pride and selfishness: Jas. 4:6

What a wonderful world it would be if all heeded Paul’s admonition: Phil. 2:3-4

Worthwhile Goals

7

Be friendly and hospitable

First impressions are everything: Rom. 16:16

Right or wrong the entire congregation can be judged based one member.

All Christians are to “be hospitable”: 1 Pet. 4:9

Ever wonder why you don’t have any friends? Prov. 18:24Worthwhile Goals

8

Be more prayerful

We are commanded to pray: 1 Tim. 2:8; 2:1-3; 1 Thess. 5:17

Read, study and meditate on the parable concerning the persistent widow: Lk. 18:1-8

Our prayers don’t have to be long and flowery to be accepted and effective.

The Bible provides many good prayers that help us learn to pray better: Matt. 6:11-13; Dan. 9:3-19

Worthwhile Goals

9

Be of assistance to others

The Lord teaches us to be a good neighbor: Mk. 12:31; Lk. 10:25-37

Can’t just pay lip service to this: 1 Jn. 3:18

Imitate Jesus: Acts 10:38; Gal. 6:10

Worthwhile Goals

10

Study the Bible more diligently

Study for Bible class and personal study and meditation: 2 Tim. 2:15; 2 Pet. 3:17-18; Eph. 4:14

Vital to teach our children: Eph. 6:4

Must feast upon God’s word: 1 Pet. 2:2; 2 Pet. 3:18

Increasing Bible knowledge should be a high priority: Heb. 5:12-6:1-8

Worthwhile Goals

11

Become a Christian

Essential to obey the gospel: Rom. 1:16-17; 2:16; 2 Thess. 1:7-9
