Austin
Since starting Velden Engineering back in the early 70’s I have been a firm believer in learning everything I can about developing ‘Best Practice’ in subcontract engineering component production. Hard won extensive experience gained providing a comprehensive service to a broad spectrum of engineering sectors has certainly helped Velden to win many contracts over the years, keeping Velden at the forefront of Britain’s best known leading jobbing shops. We are extremely flexible and highly responsive, allowing us to be equally adept at producing small quantities or larger volumes. We offer quick turnround for ongoing enquiries and orders and for running jobs we can put together efficient manufacturing production cells to meet Customer requirements and expectations in a partnership way. Our team of vastly experienced skilled engineers are second to none, extremely helpful and proud to maintain the Velden tradition to deliver Quality, Value & Service.

What we can do for you…
Provide a wide range of general and precision engineering services from one off to batch production. Many industrial Customers benefit from components and
assemblies produced by Velden.
The Northwest’s largest range of engineering skills & disciplines. CNC and Conventional plant & equipment backed up by CAD CAM technology and in house logistics enables Velden to offer highly competitive prices, on time deliveries and Quality.
Machined and fabricated components for most industries including :- Power Generation & Switchgear, Pumps & Liquid Fluid Handling, Construction, Bakeries, Breweries, Packaging, Agriculture, Environmental, Aerospace, Textiles, Automotive, Medical, Scientific and General Manufacturing. In addition, we work closely with Original Equipment Manufacturers small medium and large enterprises from concept idea & prototype through to full production. Velden has a successful track record setting up manufacturing cells for special project work due to Customer factory re-organisation or other cost saving initiatives and with room for expansion within the Columbia Mill development site we are actively seeking further opportunities.
Extensive machining capacity and resource. With overtime & shifts we can easily make up to 10,000 hours per month available …please note, this represents approximately 50% of current on-board plant capacity…therefore, capacity can be further increased, say in the event of block contracts being placed, by simply taking on additional men or arranging shift work.

Integrated Cad/Cam system Offers direct use of .DXF files
A few reasons why you will want to consider using our CNC Waterjet machining service
Ideal for small batch / prototype work – Velden’s Waterjet Machining Center is quick to program and setup and does not require expensive fixtures or tooling.
Wide range of materials & thicknesses – all metals, composites, glass, plastics, rubber, ceramics …even marble, granite & armour plating.
Quality finish - Smooth, sandblasted finish - No rough edges, burrs or jagged ends
No heat or stress in machining process - The material is not heated up significantly during the cutting process and is ideal for materials that are affected or deformed by heat, such as titanium.
More than just a profile cutter – can be used to create complex 3D shapes such as pre-production samples of ‘extrusion’ before investing in expensive tooling.

Verification & Packing Area – final checks on parts before packing & despatch
Velden’s new verification, packing and despatch system ensures that parts are packed and despatched carefully. As parts arrive at the verification area the bar code is scanned and for runners and repeaters a digital photograph of a finished part can be displayed from the finished parts library. A visual check procedure takes place to help ensure the part has been made with the correct finish from the right material and all required operations have been completed. The features and quantity are checked and verified visually by shop floor operators. The cartons are counted, weighed and wrapped. Bar coded labels are printed and attached neatly. The system can advise any special checking, packing or kitting requirements and instructions with regard to the right packaging, protection, cartons and quantity per carton.

carry out machining work for a multinational automotive manufacturer… transferring
equipment and work from France.”
“In 2001 Velden won a machining contract with a major switchgear company. This involved
