What is Fantasy Congress?

Fantasy Congress is a simulation-like game similar to Fantasy Football or Fantasy Baseball.

Students draft members of Congress to create a Fantasy Congress team.

Students follow their members and document their points; while actively gaining a familiarity and insight into the work and activity of Congress.

Representatives

Complete Preliminary Draft List

Choose 20 Representatives and 20 20 Senators in order of how you would like to draft them

Show up to the draft with a complete list of the 112th Congress

Draft Day

4 Rounds of drafting You must select 1 Senator and 3

Representatives› May choose either Senator or

Represenative in any round 45 seconds for each pick

Drafting

Must type name, state, and district of Senator or Representative

Any errors are reason for another student to challenge your pick› If challenged successfully, challenger may

take the place or pick

Scoring

Introduce or cosponsor bill 1 point

Bill voted on in committee Pass= 2, fail= 1

House or Senate votes Pass= 4, fail= 2

Member introduces amendment 1 point

Amendment vote Pass= 4, fail= 2

Bill makes it out of committee 5 points

Presidential Action Veto= 2, law= 10

Media appearance 2 points

Point Log

Student must complete and present a point log each week

You must provide evidence for your list of points

Be prepared to present your weekly points in class
