Scenario
• 4 phases of a ‘flu pandemic• Based on real events from “swine flu”• Based on scenarios written and run by #nhssm• No in-depth knowledge required – this is about
getting involved, not learning all the details
Outline
Phase 1
• Background• Preparation
Phase 2
• Early outbreak• Communication and risk
Phase 3
• Late outbreak• Prevention and mitigation
Phase 4
• Wrap up• Lessons learned
Expectations
• All students are required to contribute to all four phases, either through comments on the blog or twitter feed
• Students who fail to engage adequately will be considered to be acting unprofessionally, and dealt with accordingly
Preparation
• Sign up for Twitter and find your way aroundIf you are new to it, some reasonable suggestions for ettiquette are here:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/culture-professionals-network/culture-professionals-blog/2011/dec/15/twitter-rules-etiquette
• Email your username and real name to me at [email protected] if you want to leave it off your profile
• Stick to the blogs if you want more privacy• IF YOU DON’T USE THE HASHTAG WE WON’T SEE IT
0:21 – 2:57
A gentle reminder about Twitter
• Your text can be accessed by anyone in the world• Using #hashtags lets people follow a themed
conversation• You are expected to remain professional but you
don’t need to be formal• 140 characters is not a lot of text – abbreviations
are ok, and you can also indicate that your text is carried on to a second tweet
