I chose Albrecht
Durer’s “Flower”
illustration to
compare to my Eiffel
tower drawing,
because I love the
hatching techniques
he uses to show the
shadow.
ART HISTORY ASSESSMENT 1
Albrecht Durer, “Flower” n.d.
Albrecht Durer is a
very interesting artist.
He uses the hatching
techniques that we’re
using in art now. I
think that is very
interesting to know a
real artist that uses
what we’re using.

SIMILARITIES
Albrecht Durer image is
somewhat similar to mine,
because the hatching we used
for the flower’s shading is
similar. They both have flowers!
The mood is kind of the same
for each picture, they’re both
very peaceful and happy.

DIFFERENCES
There are many differences between my illustration
and Albrecht Durer’s illustration.
• Albrecht Durer’s picture has more hatching
than my image.
• The positions of the pictures are very different.
• The meaning is different too, his image shows a
flower growing where you wouldn’t usually see a
flower grow . Where as my image shows the
excitement of first seeing something and
automatically loving it.

REFLECTION
I think Albrecht Durer would like my image. I
used the hatching techniques that he is famous
for. I know I didn’t do as well of a job as he did
but I think he would like that I tried.
I think he would like the way I used his work
to inspire me. I love the way he used hatching
to show shadow, and I used that in my work. I
do think that he would like some of my work.
