With just three weeks remaining in 2016, here are three ways
that you can help our parish remain fiscally strong:
If you made a pledge to the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal back in January,
please do your very best to fulfill that pledge by year’s end. We have now
exceeded our parish goal for the Appeal, so the remaining payments from IHM
parishioners will be returned to our parish, without any assessment, to help us meet
our needs. That means that every $1.00 given to the Annual Appeal before year’s end
is worth about $1.30 placed in the regular parish offertory! As you know, at the end of
2015, we were able to pay an additional $200,000 toward our debt principal, due in
part to our rebate from the Annual Appeal. Monsignor Al would love for us to take
maximum advantage of this generous provision in the years ahead.
Please consider giving an extra “Christmas
gift” to your parish! As you know, Christmas
and New Year’s Day fall on Sundays this year,
and Catholics the world over are delighted that they
will not need to return to church during those weeks
for holy day Masses. But this also means that parish-
es will lose two major collections! We have tried to
anticipate some shortfall in our parish budget; but in
previous years when these Holy Days have fallen on
Sunday, the shortfall was nearly $80,000—more than
the salaries of both of your priests put together!
Your December envelopes include two envelopes for
Christmas Day, and two envelopes for New Year’s
Day. Whether you use envelopes or give electroni-
cally, please consider making two offerings for parish
support on both Sundays to help us avoid a cata-
strophic shortfall.
Please also consider speaking with your tax professional about the benefits of
appreciated stock donations. The parish gets the full cash value of the stock but
commonly you are not taxed as many dollars as if you sold the stock and then
donated the cash proceeds to the parish. This can be a great tax-advantaged method
for donating to the parish.
We thank you for your continued generosity
and commitment to our parish.
It’s easy to give! Visit our website at www.ihmatlanta.org and scroll over
“Support IHM.”
December 3 & 4 Offertory: $20,516.50
Electronic Offertory: $13,928.54
Total: $34,445.04
This weekend’s second collection is for
the retirement fund for men and women
religious. The second collection next
week is for the IHM Debt Reduction
Fund.
Now there is a simple way to plan your Will online. As you plan caring for your
family when you are gone, remember to include the parish endowment fund in these
plans. Create your Catholic Legacy by going to www.cfngalegacy.org and click on
Plan Your Will. If you have any questions, please call Juliet Greco at The Catholic
Foundation, 404-497-9440 or email [email protected].
ADVENT BAKE SALE Sunday, December 11 Remember to visit the Advent Bake Sale on Sunday, December 11 outside the

cious, home-made and beautifully packaged holiday goodies! Be sure to stop by

Bringing Faith to Life for Young Children
When your child was baptized, you promised to raise him or her in the practice of the
Catholic faith. But what does that look like for a toddler or a preschooler? After
Christmas, we’ll be holding a series of classes on this subject specifically designed
for parents of children ages 2-5. Come learn how to help your children pray, worship,
and nurture a Catholic imagination during this dynamic period of their development.
Classes will be in the lower level, 10:15-11:15 a.m. each Sunday from January 22 to
February 19.
Tonight our parish joins in the celebration that will be taking place all over the hemi-
sphere in honor of our Mother, Mary of Guadalupe. With song and dance and heart-
felt prayer, we thank the Lord for extending his life-giving word and his mother’s
merciful care to our remote corner of the world. If you cannot participate in the fes-
tivities, take some time at home to pray for our country and neighboring countries,
that we may remain faithful to the love revealed to us on a Mexican hillside five cen-
turies ago.
Our Lady and Mother,
We wish to be entirely yours
and to walk with you
along the way of complete faithfulness to Jesus Christ in His Church.
Virgin of Guadalupe,
Mother of the Americas,
hold us always with your loving hand.
