Project overview

PROBLEM:

Same property measured in different laboratories with different means gives: DIFFERENT RESULTS

OBJECTIVES:• To yield a group of common test protocols, which will allow for

obtaining the same results, under the same conditions, at any laboratory that has the required means.

• Once these protocols have been obtained and their validity and traceability verified, a tribological analysis and test service will be established and will enable companies from different sectors to solve their problems at any member centre of the service.

Activity 1. Bibliographic search

Compilation of standards and regulations related to the methods under study



Activity 2. Selection of tests

Each partner to supply a list of its own non-standardised tests to be included in the project.

Result of activities 1 and 2:

Activity 3. Selection of equipment and samples for performance of the tests

Task 3.1 List of equipment available in each Research Centre

Task 3.2 Round-robin intercomparison of standard materials to validate the results of all the available equipment

Task 3.3 Selection of samples of different types and properties to be tested by the protocols listed in activity 2 (bulk materials, coatings, different roughness, different properties, etc.)



Activities 4. Study of the tests (one per test)

Task 4.1 Study of the different variables affecting the results. Selection of the best values of these variables by the responsible of the test

Task 4.2 Testing of samples with the conditions established in 4.1

Task 4.3 Round-robin intercomparison among the centres which have the technique available

Task 4.4 Results analysis and uncertainty calculation where applicable

Task 4.5 Drawing up of a common definitive protocol



Activity 5. Start-up of a test service

Launching of a external tribological test service

Creation of a Website through which the requests for tests by clients can be channelled.

Creation of a catalogue detailing the tests capabilities of each member of the consortium



Activity 6. Dissemination of results

Task 6.1 Submission of protocols to standardisation committees:

The relevant protocols of the tests included in the service will be submitted to the corresponding standardization committees

Task 6.2 Dissemination of the project results:

The results obtained will be disseminated by different channels (scientific publications, conferences, fairs, ENIWEP website, etc.)



Activity 7. Project management

Facilitate administrative tasks and notifying the consortium of due dates

Preparation of technical and cost justification reports

Acting as a permanent contact point for all partners and maintaining a high level of communication in the consortium

Coordination of meetings

Operation of a project website with a restricted area for the consortium members. At the end of the project, it will be the tool for the tests service
