Kids for Camp was started in 2003 by Judy Burns, a parent of a child with autism.

In 2007, Kids for Camp became a Summer Learning Lab, training teachers in best practices for working with children with autism, as well as providing a summer educational program for individuals with autism, ages 2-22.

To date, we have provided training for over 100 teachers from Escambia and Santa Rosa County Schools.

Since 2007, we have served over 150 children with autism through our program.

An intensive educational opportunity for skills acquisition and positive behavior support from highly trained teachers.

Campers work on their assessed individual needs in both classroom and community settings while having fun with friends.

year-olds.

Kids for Camp 2011 will run from June 22 – July 28, 2011

Camp hours will be Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. through 2:30 p.m.

Admissions criteria includes but is not limited to:◦ Active membership in API◦ Reside in Escambia or Santa Rosa Counties (with

few exceptions)◦ Verifiable diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder◦ Be between the ages of 3 – 22◦ Have ability to pay tuition or qualify for financial

aid◦ Be an active API volunteer◦ Support API fundraisers

Open application period runs from Jan. 18 – Feb. 18, 2011

ALL requested paperwork is required Applications submitted without all required

paperwork will be considered incomplete and will not be considered for acceptance

This includes current membership in API and a nonrefundable $25 application fee

Residents of Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties receive a 20% discount donated by our generous community

To apply for further scholarships, submit a copy of the front page of your most recent processed tax return with your application paperwork

If a tax return is not submitted with your application paperwork, we will assume you plan to pay full tuition

Number of scholarships available will be determined by spring fundraising events

All applicants whose applications are received by February 18 will be contacted to schedule a skills assessment during the spring

Parents will receive a copy of the completed assessment, regardless of whether their child attends camp or not

Applicants whose paperwork is received late will only be assessed if they are accepted into camp

You will be notified in April via US Mail of your acceptance into Kids for Camp or your placement on the waiting list

Enrollment paperwork must be completed and submitted no later than two weeks after you receive acceptance

Failure to complete enrollment paperwork by the deadline may result in forfeiture of your spot in camp

A limited number of spots are available for camp and we will fill all available openings from our waiting list

Kids for Camp tuition must be paid in full prior to the start of camp

Application fees are due when applications are submitted

Tuition payments are due on May 15 and June15

Fees for extended care and typical siblings and friends are due as noted on individual applications

Parents must commit to the following:◦ Submit all paperwork and payments by deadlines◦ Bring camper to assigned assessment session ◦ Attend parent orientation session ◦ Complete at least 5 hours volunteer time for API◦ Ensure camper arrives on time and prepared for

camp each day◦ Pick up camper from camp at the designated time

each day◦ Provide written communication with teachers during

camp◦ Complete BOTH parent surveys following camp
