Girl Guides reminded to uphold their promise and law 7 KOTA KI NABALU.-Some 400 participants of the just-concluded 89th Anniversary Sabah Girl Guides Int ernational Borneo Eco Camp 2014 were remind ed to uphold the Guide Promise and the Guide Law. J as ni gave th e reminder at the Patron' s Appreciation Night Dinn er which she hosted at Ko mpleks Dewan Kuliah Perdana 2 VMS. "The Guide Promise and the Guide Law form th e principles of guiding. These are th e 'hear t and so ul' of the Guide Movement," sa id th e Pa tron of Girl Guides Associati on Malaysia (GGAM) Sabah Branch. The Guide Promise is to do one's best to God; King a nd Country Malaysia, and to help people at all time s. Toh Pua n Norli da h urged th e girl guid es to abide by the 10 Guide Laws, sin- gling out the Sixth Law, which is "A Guide is a friend to animals and cares for the environ ment". The inaugural camp at Kolej C and D on the grounds of Vniversiti Malaysia Sabah (VMS) was organised by GGAM Sabah Branch in collaboration with VMS Eco Management Centre. Of the 400 girl guides, 36 were from foreign count ries (Hong Kong, Japan, Pakistan, Ba ngladesh, Philippines and Aus tralia. The r es t were from Malaysia, including 150 from Sabah. In Malaysia, guides are divided into three categories based on ag e, namely Brownie Guides (9- 12), Junitlr Guides (13-15) and Ranger Guides (16-18).
