have inspired others to use its name, including Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen. SsangYong’s new Tivoli takes inspiration from its Italian namesake with a design that blends excitement with style and performance.
With a renewed exterior design and brand-new interior, SsangYong’s B-segment SUV Tivoli offers European styling, class-leading safety and competitive fuel efficiency.
Tivoli was launched in Korea in January 2015, and immediately achieved sales in its home market of over 3,000 vehicles a month. Its international debut was at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2015, and sales of petrol engine models began in June following its media launch in Europe. Since Tivoli has been praised universally for meeting a wide range of customer requirements and in the region of 50,000 cars have been sold in Europe from its launch to date.
Five years since its initial launch, new Tivoli is now available with a brace of new high-tech petrol engines - a 1.2 GDi Turbo 3-cylinder engine and a 1.5 GDi Turbo 4-cylinder engine - and an uprated version of the 1.6 diesel engine.
Tivoli offers the perfect all-round compact SUV with smart driving technology, a brilliant digital interface, advanced safety technology, and a wide range of design upgrades, both inside and out.
EXTERIOR DESIGN CUESTivoli’s new exterior design has increased its road presence with revised styling to the front and rear over the previous generation design giving a more modern and distinctive appearance. The integrated bumper wrapped around the triple LED fog lights and a new distinctive hood gives a sporty character and intense look. LED daytime running lights front and rear accentuate both Tivoli's style and

look. To finish the look, and depending on trim level, there are choices of 16" steel wheels (with wheel covers), 16" alloy wheels and 18" diamond cut wheels. In addition, Cherry Red has been added to the colour line-up.
INTERIOR DESIGN CUES The interior design has been through a radical, innovative change to provide convenience and cutting-edge technology. In particular, the centre fascia in the middle of the dashboard has been updated to a tablet style, much like that of its
big brother, Korando.
The entry model EX is available with modern, deluxe black cloth seats, whilst the mid-specification Ventura upgrades to smart TPU faux leather and cloth black seats. The natural leather seats in Ultimate models are available in black (grey, red, silver, white exterior) and soft grey (blue and black exterior). The new Tivoli has a choice of brand new 1.2 GDi-T and 1.5 GDi-T litre direct injection and turbo charged petrol engines or an uprated 1.6 litre diesel engine compliant with the latest Euro 6D emission standards.
Drawing on considerable knowledge of petrol engines, the new 3-cylinder 1.2 litre GDi-Turbo engine is aimed at delivering a powerful yet eco-friendly, quiet and refined driving experience, and is combined with a 6-speed manual transmission. The 1.2-litre engine output is 128PS @ 5000 RPM and 230NM of torque at 1750-3500RPM.
SsangYong's 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine boasts a robust performance of a maximum output of 163PS at 5,500RPM and maximum torque of 280NM of torque at 1,500 to 4,000RPM with automatic transmission. Also, a double carbon accumulation prevention valve system has been applied to increase reliability.
The Tivoli’s uprated 1.6 diesel engine performs with a maximum output of 136PS at 4000RPM with a maximum torque of 324NM at 1500-2500RPM with automatic transmission.

TRANSMISSION Tivoli has a choice of two modern and efficient six-speed gear boxes – manual and automatic. The third generation AISIN AW GEN III six-speed automatic transmission, which has been certified by various global vehicle manufacturers, has been adapted for new Tivoli. The synergy between the engine and the power transmission performance and durability results in a fast and smooth shift that is fun to drive beyond a standard SUV. The 1.2 GDi T is available with the manual transmission whilst the new 1.5L GDi-T and 1.6 litre diesel engine are available with manual or automatic transmissions.
RIDE & HANDLINGFor the first time for SsangYong a full development programme was undertaken by engineers at Idiada in Spain to tune ride, handling and steering response to European tastes. Road tyres rather than M&S
tyres were selected as part of this programme for vehicles with 18” wheels to reduce tyre noise and improve handling.
IDLE STOP & GO (ISG)ISG is standard on the all new Tivoli models and automatically shuts down the engine when idle to enhance fuel economy and reduce exhaust emissions. Tivoli also offers three driving modes optimized for various driving environments (automatic transmission):

1. Normal: in a normal environment where efficiency and quietness are required
2. Sports: optimal for sport drive with more output3. Winter: for a safe start on a slippery road in winter
NOISE, VIBRATION & HARSHNESS (NVH)New Tivoli has an optimised, comfortable driving experience by strengthening Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH), minimising the noise from the roads entering the inside of the vehicle. Using new features such as tuned suspension and steering for European roads, increased high strength steel, under floor damping, pillar cavity foam, and a sound absorbing roof liner, is all effective in isolating engine, road and exterior sounds for a quiet driving experience. A structural adhesive has been applied and the rigidity of the body panel has been increased from the previous model. Dynamic damper and four-point mounting were applied to the front and rear sub frames, and sound absorption materials were added to each pillar to greatly reduce the noise level for the quiet driving experience.
LCD SMART INSTRUMENT CLUSTERNew Tivoli Ultimate features a 10.25” high resolution LCD instrument cluster which provides drivinginformation in a style to suite consumer style and taste. There is a choice of a bold digital screen with bright red graphics or a sophisticated analogue style format, the cluster provides the whole range of data, giving the means adjust safety, comfort and technological features, ranging from the sensitivity of Tivoli’s
automatic braking system to the choice of welcome chime when turning on the ignition.

VIEW FROM THE TOP Commenting on new Tivoli, Nick Laird managing director of SsangYong Motor UK said: “Back in 2015, SsangYong set new standards for value-priced compact SUVs, with the launch of a new Tivoli. This new Tivoli with more engine choice and an uprated diesel engine is further evidence of the brand’s re-generation and demonstrates the rapid progress being made as a specialist producer of 4x4s and SUVs. The Tivoli is cool, quirky and stylish and it boasts an array of advanced safety and infotainment technologies as well a spacious cabin and cargo area.”
“SsangYong is Korea’s third largest SUV brand & has over 60 years-experience of making refreshingly different cars. Along the way, we’ve learnt a thing or two about what customers really need. So instead of wasting money on marketing gimmicks or add-ons, we offer a full range of truly refined & high-spec SUV’s that absolutely deliver on the road.”

“Our ‘badge’ may be less well known, but what SsangYong lacks in current recognition, we more than make up for with cars that offer huge value without ever feeling compromised. We also have so much faith in our build quality, that we offer a full 7-year/150,000-mile warranty so customers can be quietly
confident that they’ve made the right choice when it comes to the things that really matter. We are sure that, with the new Korando, we have a vehicle that has the potential to upstage some much bigger names in the marketplace.”
Made in KoreaSsangYong cars are manufactured in South Korea by SsangYong Motor, which is 73 per cent owned by the Indian engineering conglomerate Mahindra & Mahindra and imported into the UK by SsangYong Motor UK. Established in 1954 it is Korea's oldest vehicle manufacturer and only 4x4 and SUV specialist producer. There are currently some 60 SsangYong dealers covering England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, with new locations being added to the network all the time.
