advocating for long sequences of K-12 language-learning;
advising state education policy-makers and SEA officials of national trends and new innovations in WL and international education;

collaborating with post-secondary institutions to create a seamless articulation of K-16+ language learning;
delivering high-quality PD to K-12 WL educators, administrators & specialists;
providing support for new teacher evaluation models & credit flexibility plans;
participating in efforts to recruit and retain WL teachers;

Locally, we affect policy and practice in language education by:
initiating and implementing MOUs with foreign ministries of education;
providing a broad range of technical support to schools and districts;
supporting the activities of the State Boards of Education;
directing international education initiatives;
attending and presenting at state, regional, national and international conferences;

writing & implementing federal/state grants;
coordinating partnership activities on grants awarded to school districts, post- secondary institutions or others;
researching best practices and sharing findings with a wide range of audiences;
providing technical assistance to state legislatures;

acting in an advisory capacity for teacher licensure and certification;
developing online WL courses and model curricula for statewide dissemination;
serving on state textbook and advisory boards; and
