Burgwin, of Manassas, gives much interesting information about road improvement in Meck- lenburg county, whicli may be of value to Prince William road build- ers. This made it necessary to give the test on that particular day «hich to the regret of air the teachers and su­perintendent was one of the worst days we have had this session in regard to children getting to school. Some schools were closed en-tarely and all had very poor attendance, but notwithstanding this difficulty there were 52 p«r cent of the white pupils and S5 per cent of the colored jgiapila-tcstod. with 81.89 pcf cent efficiency for the wlute pupils and 70.59 per cent for the colored.
