Sedimentary Rock

Rock that forms when sediments are compacted and cemented together.

Composition and Texture

Composition is what the minerals in the rocks are made of

Texture is determined by sizes, shapes, and positions.

Igneous rock Formations

Intrusive- cools beneath the surface Extrusive- forms on the surface

Sedimentary origins Strata is layers that form from

deposition of sediment Clastic forms when rock or mineral

fragments stick together Stratification layering of sedimentary

rock

Textures of Metamorphic Rocks Foliated is when minerals are aligned

Non-foliated is when metamorphic rocks do not appear to have any regular pattern
