The WKWIB will release a Request for Proposals (RFP) for Program Year 2012-2013 on February 22, 2012 which will allow organizations to apply as contractors to operate youth programs for the fiscal year 2012-2013. A bidder's conference will be held on February 24, 2012 to discuss the release and the funding process. Available funding for the programs will be based upon federal and state allocations. These programs should be designed to meet the specifications listed in the RFP and serve economically disadvantaged youth in the seventeen (17) counties of the Purchase/Pennyrile Workforce Investment Area through an integrated learning and work experience program to prepare eligible youth for placement in unsubsidized jobs, return to school or for placement in other training. Initiatives to address the needs of out-of-school, older, and economically disadvantaged youth are considered top priorities for our area. Ten required youth elements are addressed in all programs under the Workforce Investment Act, which is up for reauthorization. Any reauthorization or changes in the law could affect the operation and/or funding of these programs.
