My Dear Parishioners,

I n the gospel, we heard three stories of forgiveness. We last heard part of these readings at the end of March with the story of the lost son. Today we hear also about a shepherd that goes after his lost sheep and a woman that searches

high and low for a missing coin. Jesus told these stories of for-giveness because the religious people, of whom Jesus, an ob-servant Jew, was one, would not eat with tax collectors and sin-ners. These passages from so long ago have much to teach us. Can we admit our wrongdoing and say that we are sorry? Are we able to ask for mercy? Are we able to forgive? If not, it probably means we are deluded and unable to see ourselves as we really are, or that we have never known love. If that is the case, then loving mercy and forgiveness is the experience needed for us to become fully human and fully alive. Notice, that the way to fullness of life is in knowing that we are lost; in need of mercy. Jesus does not want anyone to be deprived of such a wonderful experience. Hopefully, as the church, you and I have experienced it, and in turn, want to make that available to others. One sure way, is to be like Jesus and share meals with others, even strangers.

With every good wish, Fr. Phil Pastor

From Father Phil

Bienvenidos N O T I C I A S E N E S P A Ñ O L
