Attainment on entry to Nursery well below average in terms of age-related expectations
By end of Reception 2015, 46 %, are attaining an aggregate ‘good’ level of attainment using new EYFS Profile scores. Last year’s National average was 51% suggesting our pupils are below this year however good progress has been made taking into account the well below baseline for this cohort. Progress is however outstanding (HMI report)
Provision for EYFS for 2015 in Year 1 has already been established and transition links within school continue to grow.

A key measure of performance is how much pupils have progressed since they left KS1.
September 2008 intake: low attainment on entry. High level of SEN/FSM throughout.
2008 – 2010: school requires improvement and in state of change and disruption. Attainment at end of KS1 broadly in line- assessment accurate ?
2010 – 2015: rates of progress uneven. Pupils leave with attainment broadly in line with national figures. Argument can be made for good progress since February half term with improved Aps on last year and impact of closing the gap strategies.

School focus has moved to basic skills emphasis on Spelling, Punctuation, Grammar. Writing support will be given by Mrs Conqueror to selected pupils.Extra support being delivered by Mr.Conqueror.Personalised Maths programmes in place for groups of pupils.Pupils in small groupings for Maths with more able challenged daily.
To take us through to 2016. Four key strands:-1 Maths for more able/boys2 Love of reading, spoken and written English/boys3 Pupils’ self-discipline and resilience4 Development of leadership at all levels
1. Improvement in Y6 National tests –above or broadly in line except for KS1 writing.
2. Higher expectations in every year group 3. Focus on boys – present y2 and exception 4. Basic skills daily 5. Sets/groups in Upper KS2 classes-possibly boy
sets 6. Programme of CPD/induction for teachers
1. English Grammar Punctuation and Spelling – significant improvement in 2014 from 2013 performance
2. Extra lessons planned for Y6 this year. 3. CPD for both teaching and non-teaching staff
on correct grammar/use of business language. 4. Debating built into the ‘learning themes’ in KS2
and P4c in KS1. Competitions and work with Royal Shakespeare Company planned.
5. Super skills/learning behaviour/ Superheroes/boys.
Revised tracking system and positive behaviour systems.
New approach to support staff systems which run across lunchtimes and after school clubs.
Training for new staff in September INSET planned September 2015. From September, common language adopted
throughout school.
New leadership appointments Executive Head is Lead Inspector for Ofsted Assistant HT is KS1 lead /Seconded Literacy /Assistant
head/ out of class from September working in a leadership capacity.
School to School Opps with All Saints. Training for group of teachers in early leadership –
EYFS lead teacher/New TLR for Maths/KS2 lead. SENCO lead completing SENCO training for role. New Admin role to develop and support. Changes to staffing structure to support learning in
2015/2016. Non negotiables to be adopted.
Staff meeting dedicated to moderating assessment and introducing new planning format.
RE Co to induct new staff and implement RE action plan, moderate assessments, show indoor and outdoor prayer space and support all staff.
Y4 Sacramental celebration Friday 26th June (Procession and party) Fund raising for St Swithin’s Day for local families in need and a lap
top for Sierra Leone St Joseph’s school. Food collected taken to local homeless project.
RE Co is working alongside Archbishop Malcolm on organising a north west conference for catholic leaders in diocese including governors.
Collecting data for RE. Tracking data collated and new staff inducted in September.

CPD for new staff.
Mr Simon Reeve and Mrs Yvonne Blair appointed to TLR position with lead EYFS/KS2 roles.
Two other new teachers to start September in Y2 and Y5.
One to lead Computing. One to lead the Arts O.L.S.S Curriculum – and
Shakespeare project. Current TLR position for Literacy being covered by Mrs
Conqueror and KS1 lead role by Mrs Morgan for 15-16 year.

Numbers at the school are rising. The school is popular and improving standards over past 2 years. Its curricular partnerships with Hope University, Liverpool FC who are making plans for a mini league, Secondary Liaison and Resonate are examples of quality engagement with community partners. It is a strategic partner with All Saints, Anfield.
Future links with Millstead/ Resourced Provision for SLD/Pathway pupils.
St. Joseph’s Sierra Leone is our twin school . The Catholic Primary school is in the amputee village. Extra curricular enrichment for next year includes trips to Spain/France for Skiing.
The EYFS has a new focus in forest initiatives which has opened up community and communiversity links.
Partnership with All Saints and local network of schools.
New SIP and continued LA/LLP support.
