Zheng Hua: Well, I really like Guo Jing-jing. She trains so hard and she always does her best in competitions. She’s also very pretty.

Hu Jun: Oh, come off it. Yes, I suppose she’s pretty, but I don’t think she’s the only hardworking sports star around. What about Gao Ling, the Olympic badminton champion? Every day, as part of her training, she wears special clothes filled with sand weighing 6 kilograms. Now that’s what I call hardworking.

Zheng Hua: OK, but I still admire Guo Jing-jing.

Interviewer: Hu Jun, who are your favourite sports heroes?

Hu Jun: I guess I have to go for Liu Xiang, the men’s hurdle champion.

• In 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, Li Xiaopeng and his teammates were outstanding, winning gold in the prestigious men's team event, a first for China's gymnasts. Li Xiaopeng also won an individual gold medal in the parallel bars. 　　 However, due to a severe foot injury, Li's performance in 2004 Athens Olympic Games was unsatisfying. China finished 5th in the men's team final and Li only got a bronze in parallel bars after he had been unbeaten since 2000 in major competitions.
