SRI LAKSHMI HAYAGRIVA STOTRAM SERIES Hayagrieva Stotram - Slokas 15 & 16
...will continue in next newsletter
Sriman Nigamantha Desika composed 33 slokas describing the greatness of Hayagriva. The Lord Himself made him compose the hymn
where each sloka incorporates some Bi:ja aksharas.
Cosmic administration is said to be in 33 divisions. Likewise the great ashtakshari dwayi mantras have a total of 33 syllables. Sri Desika
has composed and favoured us with this hymn in such a manner that each sloka has within it the divine power of the aksharas. Great souls
have been witness to this. For this reason, great acharyas of the past as well as learned scholars of the present times hold this hymn in high
esteem as the bestower of great power of speech and knowledge with understanding.
We have covered Slokas 1 – 14 in previous newsletters. Now we are covering slokas 15 and 16 in this month newsletter.

Mukunda Mala by Kulasekara Alwar Continues with the 7th Sloka where Kulasekara address the
Lord as Krishna for the first time and begs once more to let him as a devotees mind to focus on
the Lotus feet of the Lord right now and right away so that he does not have to be worried about
what happens in his old age when he may be afflicted with things like phlegm, bile disease etc.
(kaphavAta and pitta). Instead he surrenders and prays for acceptance right away.

Lord Hayagriva! You have great compassion for those who seek refuge in You.
You shower on them, Your pure rays of kindness and grant them a unique and
wonderful happiness. You grant Your Grace to those who meditate upon You with
devotion even for a brief moment. It is due to Your Grace that they acquire remarkable power of speech. It is of such speed that even the speed of the river
Ganga, appears to be insignificant.

O Hayagriva! To meditate upon You ceaselessly with great love is to bathe in a lake of nectar itself. Your very thought causes
the hairs to stand end like what happens which bathing in cold water. But this thrill is not superficial. Would you like to know
what it is? Your divine memory gives bliss which strikes root and stays firmly not visible to anybody in the cave of the heart. It
is from that bliss that the thrill in the other limbs arises. Lord! How sweet is Your memory! The roots are not visible but the out-
er manifestation is! Likewise meditation goes on inside but the thrill thereof is seen outside.
