The annual Baccalaureate Service hosted by the Arthur Ministerial Association will be held next Sunday, May 19, 2013 at Arthur-Lovington High School gym at 5:00 pm. Speaker for Baccalaureate will be Matt Bollant, head coach of the U of I Women’s Basketball team. Everyone is invited to come. On that same Sunday we will also be recognizing our AMC graduates during the morning worship celebration.

• Gary, Dorothy, and Kim Kauffman went to PA this week to see their son/brother Todd and his family.
• Melissa Schrock’s step father Dale Richeson passed away this week. His visitation and funeral was held here Thursday and Friday. Please keep this family in your prayers.
• Henry and Mary Herschberger were in Carbondale, IL this weekend to see their grandson Landon Kennel Graduate from SIU.
• Gloria Yoder and Rhonda Rhodes are in NYC this weekend to hear Rebecca and the Hesston Choir sing at Carnegie Hall.

SUMMER CAMPS
At Menno Haven Camp
and Retreat Center
It’s time to get signed up for the summer camps at Menno Haven. They have camps for all ages and even a family camp at the end of June. Please see the schedule of camps on the Discipling board or visit their website for more information. Arthur Mennonite will provide a $100 scholarship for any child or youth that goes to summer camp this year. Please contact the church office if your children or family plan to attend camp. www. mennohaven.com
Dig out your gloves and cleats and head to the ball park. If you are interested in participating on the church softball team, please sign up on the C.L. board or talk to Jeff and Jenni Marner for more information. There is no practice today but practices will resume next Sunday at 1:30 p.m. on the South Diamond. Games will run June-August on Sunday afternoons.

Next Sunday we will be celebrating Pentecost Sunday. This is a time to celebrate and remember the sending of the Holy Spirit in Acts 2 and the Spirit’s ongoing work in our lives and the world today. The word Pentecost is Greek and comes from the word for 50, with the implied word for “day” following because Pentecost is the 50th day after Easter. In Acts 2:17 Peter proclaims the words of the prophet Joel …. “In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people.” We hope to see you next Sunday!

Trying to do my share to help the environment, I set up a trash basket at my church and posted above it this suggestion: “Empty water bottles here.” I should have been a little more specific, because when I went to check it later, I didn't find any bottles, but it was full of water.
