RGU utilises "TurnitinUK which is an online service hosted at

www.submit.ac.uk. This enables staff to carry out

electronic comparison of students' work against electronic sources including other students' work."


We will show you examples where Plagiarism, Collusion and

use of un-referenced sources hasbeen identified in year 2008 students

Why do we feel that this is so important?

I have spent the last 10 years carrying out statistical Analysis relating to Well Engineering Risk. I have a particular interest in evaluating statistical data and Turnitin is really a comparative statistical analysis of large amounts of data.

In short I am perfectly happy spending many hourschecking through Turnitin outputs to ensure thatStudents maintain academic standards and that RGU’s standards are upheld.


As a test on some of my own work I submitted someof my course notes on Coiled Tubing and also my2006 MSc Project to Turnitin and these are the findings……
