The urinary system consists of all the organs involved in the formation and release of urine.

It includes the kidneys, ureters, urinary bladder and urethra.

The urinary system works with the lungs, skin and intestines to maintain the balance of chemicals and water in the body.

URINARY (RENAL) MODULE OBJECTIVESThis module deals with: Structure of the urinary tract (macroscopic and

microscopic) Role of the urinary system in controlling the volume

and composition of body fluid, electrolyte concentration and systemic hemodynamics

Renal cellular function in order to realize the basis of relevant therapeutics 

Description of normal micturition, reasons of oliguria, hematuria and proteinuria

Some other common renal diseases as glomerulo-nephritis, pyelo-nephritis, urinary tract infection, renal failure and renal Neoplasia

Mid-term 20 Marks

Open book 05 Marks

SDL 10 Marks

Final Theory Exam 40 Marks

OSPE (Practical) 10 Marks

Oral Exam 05 Marks

Total = 100 Marks

ASSESSMENT

2 Bonus marks will be given to the student having 100 % attendance

Quiz: It will be written exam and include MCQs, true/false and matching.

Mid-term: It will include MCQs, true/false, matching and descriptive questions also.

Open-book: It will include only descriptive questions from the book chapter.

Final written exam: It will include different types of questions such as MCQs, matching,

true/false and descriptive (short answer). 60% questions will be from the lectures of post-mid-term exam. Practicals will not be included in the quiz, midterm and final written exams.

Practical Exam: It will be in an OSPE (Objective Structured Practical Exam) format, where

you have several stations representing all the practical topics.

Oral Exam: It will be viva voice exam. Every student will be evaluated by a panel. The

questions will be asked from PBLs and all practical courses.

before exam. SDL: Renal replacement therapy. OSPE: All 9 practicals. Oral Exam: All 9 practicals and 5

PBLs. Final Theory Exam: All lectures

SDL : RENAL REPLACEMENT THERAPY

ATTENDANCE

We expect 100% attendance. First warning letter (10%): Absent in first

5 lectures. Second warning letter (15%): Absent in

first 8 lectures. Third warning letter and No entry in final

exam: If absent in 20% or more (11 lectures or more).
