“That the wide diffusion of culture, and the education of humanity for justice and liberty and peace are
indispensable to the dignity of man and constitute a sacred duty which all nations must fulfil in a spirit of mutual assistance and
concern.”

For these reasons, the States Parties to this Constitution, believing in full and equal opportunities for education for all, in the
unrestricted pursuit of objective truth, and in the free exchange of ideas and knowledge, are
agreed and determined to develop and increase the means of communication between their peoples and to employ these means for the
purposes of mutual understanding and a truer and more perfect knowledge of each other’s
lives.

agreed and determined to develop and increase the means of communication between their peoples and to employ these means for the
purposes of mutual understanding and a truer and more perfect knowledge of each other’s

diversified sources of funding, private and public, are necessary; public support for higher education and
research remains essential to ensure a balanced achievement of its
educational and social missions.’ (World Conference on Higher Education – 1998)

THE INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE
A diploma for the last two years of secondary school designed and managed by
a non-governmental organisation.
It is followed by pupils in 1000 schools in
