FlexiClamp®

Multi-WireCurrentClampmeters• Measures current in one-, two-,

or three-wire cables• Eliminates the requirement of splitting cable or

removing covers• Operates as both a “traditional” single-wire and

unique multi-wire current clampmeter• Available in a version that measures

volts and ohms• Includes a “data hold” feature for making

measurements in awkward locations• Complies to IEC1010-2-032 Category III

international safety standards

The unique and innovative MEGGER® FlexiClamps (FC200 andFC230) are one-step current meters that measure current inmulti-wire cables and line cords the way electricians, technicians, and service engineers always thought clampmeters should -without the need to split the cable or cord, or remove covers. The operator simply clamps the jaws around the cable and readsthe display. With a FlexiClamp, the user no longer has to breakthe circuit conductor by inserting a shunt resistor or currenttransformer to make the measurement. The FlexiClamps usepatented circuitry eliminating the zeroing effect in multi-conductor cables that require the cable be split to get a propercurrent reading. The units include a data hold function button tocapture the reading when working in awkward or “blind”situations. In addition to its multi-conductor currentmeasurement capability, the FC230 version includes a voltagemeasurement range of 0-600 V and a resistance measurementrange of 0-200 Ω.Circle 56

• Five instruments in one• TDR• Automatic Resistance Bridge• Insulation Tester• Loop Resistance Meter• Voltmeter

• Allows technician to locate high resistancecable faults previously undetectable withcurrent TDRs

• Test single or compound runs

This Bridge TDR provides all your cable fault locatingrequirements in a single unit. Simple menu optionsallow immediate selection of the test functionrequired, either for tdr, voltmeter, or bridgeresistance measurements. Automatic options in the“Bridge” menu provide a seamless insulation, loop

and fault finding test sequence. These tests can also be performed individually.

As a TDR - This instrument offers all the established functions of the CFL510E (TDR1000)in a simple low cost hand-held unit capable of fault finding up to 3 kM. A large graphicalLCD display clearly shows the characteristics of the cable being tested.

As a Bridge - An automatic test sequence performs a seamless insulation test, a loop testand a fault test to establish the location of cable faults which are undetectable usingstandard TDR technology. Range capability of the fault test can be up to 100 kMdependent on the coductor diameter and resistance.

As a Voltmeter - Selecting the “Meter” option permits DC voltage measurements. Thesecan be used to establish a range of line-status information such as: hazardous voltages, battery voltage level and line polarity prior to performing other tests. This instrument iscapable of measuring up to ±250 VDC.

150 ft-48,000 ft (50m-16000m) withresolution down to 4 inches (0.1m)

• Dual input and output ports• 15 internal memory positions• RS-232 interface to a PC or printer

(included software)• Help menu• 5 user selectable pulse widths per range for

improved fault locating• Trace averaging capability to reduce the effect

of intermittent noise• Zoom capability• "TX Null" capability to improve close-in fault location and allow for more

effective fault locating on longer cable runs• 3-year warranty

This TDR is an advanced instrument capable of identifying a wide range of cable faults using TimeDomain Reflectometry. Narrow pulses of electrical energy are transmitted along the cable. Thepulse travels through the cable at a velocity determined by the cable insulation. Changes incharacteristic impedance of the cable will cause the pulse to be reflected which then is displayed onthe instrument.

It can be used on any cable consisting of at least two insulated metallic elements, one of whichmay be the sheath or shield of the cable. Dual inputs and large graphic display allow a wide rangeof comparative tests to be performed between cable pairs or stored traces. It includes a “TX Null”(transmit pulse nulling) feature that enables the operator to eliminate the transmitted pulse fromthe displayed waveform for enhanced fault locating. The instrument has 15 trace memories, whichallow previous test results to be displayed. The included download software allows transfer of thewaveform data to a computer for analysis and storage for future reference.

The advanced features of this TDR make it ideal for the demanding applications of cable testing.

allow for more effective fault locating on longer cable runs• 3-year warranty

This TDR is an advanced instrument capable of identifying a wide rangeof cable faults using Time Domain Reflectometry. It offers exceptionalfeatures and a range of capability normally associated with larger, more expensive instruments. This TDR includes a “TX Null” (transmitpulse nulling) feature that enables the operator to eliminate thetransmitted pulse from the displayed waveform for enhanced faultlocating. This TDR automatically adjusts the range around the cursor

position to the lowest range for that position ensuring that the faultcondition is being viewed on the lowest possible range.

It can be used on any cable consisting of at least two insulated metallicelements, one of which may be the sheath or shield of the cable. Ithas internal matching networks to allow testing of 25 Ω, 50 Ω, 75 Ω, and 100 Ω cables (These cables correspond to power, cellular,CATV, and telephone cable).

This TDR is primarily designed for linemen in both the communicationsand power industries.

PARTIAL DISCHARGE DETECTION SYSTEMS

The BIDDLE® PD/RIV Detection System permits simultaneous measurement of both partial discharge inpicocoulombs, and RIV, in microvolts. Traditionally, RIV has been measured in microvolts using a radio noisemeter, according to NEMA Standard 107. More than 50 years of experience has been accumulated with RIVmeasurements by manufacturers and users of power transformers and power apparatus. The only way tocorrectly correlate picocoulombs and microvolts is to take both sets of data simultaneously. This is difficultbecause the connection point for both is the bushing capacitance tap on the unit under test. The BIDDLE® PD/RIVDetection System multiplexes the picocoulomb and microvolt signals onto a single connection cable from thebushing tap and then splits them apart to drive both a P.D. Detector and an RIV meter.Circle 88
