Prerequisites and Check List

Pervasive.SQL V8x to V8.7 Upgrade 3

Requirements System Requirements: Please verify that your system meets the EbixONE System, Network and Software requirements: For details, please refer to the appropriate EbixONE System Requirement documentation at http://www.ebixsupport.com

• Windows 2000 or Windows XP Professional installed on workstations.

Support and Upgrade Requirements: • pcAnywhere - Windows 2000 requires pcAnywhere 9.2 and Windows XP

Professional requires pcAnywhere 10.5 or higher for dial up assistance on at least one PC or server.

• A network login ID with Administrators Permission and password are required for supporting EbixONE at all times. We can either use Administrator login and password or you can create a network login ID called EBIX (all caps) with a unique password and we will update our support database with the information.

Prerequisite Check List: • Backup of the server has been completed.

• Pervasive.SQL V8 License Key available.

• All users must be logged out of the server and EbixONE. We recommend a reboot of the server before upgrade.

• Make sure all EbixONE patches have been applied. Pervasive.SQL V8 SP3 (version 8.7) has been certified on EbixONE 9.08.05 (and higher).

• Unload or disable any Terminate and Stay Resident (TSR) programs such as Anti-Virus, Fax or backup software on the server and workstations.

• Script Blocking, which is included in Norton Anti-Virus, must be disabled. Disabling the Auto-Protect does not disable the Script Blocking feature, it must be manually turned off through the options menu.

Note: If you reboot the PC , you must unload or disable all TSR again before continuing.

Note: While Pervasive has certified Pervasive.SQL V8 with Windows 98 and it may work, Ebix has only certified the Pervasive.SQL V8 client on Windows 2000 and Windows XP. The following instructions are based on the latest Windows operating systems.

Part I – Pervasive SQL V8 Server Upgrade

Pervasive.SQL V8x to V8.7 Upgrade 4

Part 1 - Upgrading Pervasive.SQL Server Pervasive.SQL V8 SP3 (8.7) was designed as an upgrade. Do not uninstall your current version of Pervasive.SQL V8. Refer to the Getting Started with Pervasive.SQL V8 Server Edition book that came with original V8 software package for more detailed information. The following instructions are certified for use on Microsoft Windows 2000/2003 Servers. If you are using another Server operating system, please contact EbixSupport before continuing.

Installing Pervasive.SQL V8 SP3 (8.7) On Windows Servers 1. Download the complete Pervasive PSQL V8 Server update for your operating

system from www.pervasive.com. (Windows approx. 112 meg)

2. At the File Download – Security Warning choose Run.

3. Follow the prompts until prompted for your license key. The license is provided

along with your software in the Pervasive.SQL V8 package. Enter the license key and keep this key in a safe location.

4. Highlight Typical then click Next and follow prompts to complete the installation

Note: The Pervasive SQL V8 upgrade must be installed at the server itself. It cannot be installed from a remote client machine.

using default selections.

Note: If asked if data files should be rebuilt/converted, select No. EbixONE uses File Version 7and rebuilding files to version 8 will cause problems when using EbixONE.

5. If prompted to reboot the server, choose Yes.

Testing Installation (Pervasive System Analyzer) The Pervasive System Analyzer will automatically open to begin testing the recent installation. Ebix recommends you run all the tests. Continue with the Pervasive System Analyzer Transactional and Relational Tests as outlined in the Getting Started with Pervasive Chapter 5 and report any failed tests to EbixSupport.

Test Network Communication 1. Enter target machine name (your server name) and click Next.

Note: If Pervasive (\PVSW) was installed to a hard drive other than the system drive(usually C:) the Pervasive Relational test will fail. Skip the Pervasive Relational test and test the connection to EbixONE using ODBC DSN Test later.
