Council of Governor’s MeetingFall Conference, Nov 2-3, 2018

Meeting was called to order by CC Paul at 3:35 pm. Lions Invocation, followed by a Moment of Silence for Deceased Members and World Peace and also include the DG of N1 who is having some health issues and under doctor’s care so have him in your thoughts and prayers as well.

PCC Sonny Bonnell gave a brief update on the weekend. Banquet is sold out 110, Meet & Greet total used be 130-140. There are a couple of changes to the Agenda for Saturday. The Canine Vision Dog Guide at 9:45 am is cancelled due to an injury to owner, PCC Susan is going to present her program – Are you Ready to be a Guiding Lion. PCC Sonny welcomed everyone on behave of the Multiple and his home club of Simonds Lions Club enjoy the weekend and if there is anything he can do to help make the weekend improve any better just let him know and he will see what they can do. Registrations are downstairs, they will be at the Meet & Greet and tomorrow morning at 8 am. You must have your ticket for the Meet & Greet and also for the banquet. Shuttle service for the Meet & Greet starting at 6:30 pm till 11 pm every half hour.

CC Paul asked for the Additions to the Agenda. There was an item added to the Agenda – Multiple District Scarves under other business. CC Paul asked for Approval of the Agenda with that 1 additionDG Perry moved the acceptance of the Agenda with the addition of the Multiple Scarves. Motion was second by DG Jennifer. Motion Carried

CC Paul asked for the approval of the Minutes from the Summer Council meeting.DG Jennifer moved the approval of the Summer Council minutes as circulated. DG Perry seconded the motion. Motion Carried

Business Arising:

Chair Vacancy - Youth Services – one application – Lion Bill Bruhm – N2 Motion to accept 2 year term for Youth ServicesDG Perry moved to accept Lion Bill Bruhm to fill the position of the Youth Services Chair for the next 2 years. DG Edgar seconded the motion. Motion Carried.

MD Pins – need the numbers to pass along to Lion Terrance. Next year’s pin is Peggy Cove’s Lighthouse. After discussion it was voted to order the 900 pins with N1 -200, N2 – 150, N3 – 200, and N4 – 200 for a total of 750. Remaining pins will be left with the CST.DG Edgar moved to buy 900 pins for the upcoming MD Pin – Peggy Cove’s Lighthouse. DG Jennifer seconded the motion. Motion Carried.

Conference Calls – Discussion was about the ZOOM. Site is Date for Conference Call – Feb 10, 2019 but this is the VDG Training New date Feb 24, 2019 – 7 pm and 7:30 pm for NL

Trial run for the this will be Jan 13, 7 pm and 7:30 pm NL

DG Perry moved to have test run with the ZOOM for Jan 13 at 7 pm – 7:30pm NL. Actual call will be Feb 24, 2019 for the same time. DG Jennifer seconded the motion. Motion Carried.

PDG Valerie introduced PDG Paul Baker. PDG Paul Baker is the New Club Consultant at Lions International. This is the third visit to District N3 for PDG Paul in the last 3 years. They have travelled for the last 7 days. They have successfully chartered the Blanc Sablon Lions Club with 58 members and they have visited Saint Paul’s River with the help of the Mayor. They are up to 24 and more in the wings. PDG Valarie will be bringing forth a motion for the Council to consider. These two clubs are in Quebec and there is full commission and support for Multiple District N to take over this little slice of Quebec and that means Multiple District A would no longer be the only true multi-lingual district as they have a slice of Quebec on the other side. It makes no sense whatsoever for that little tiny slice of Quebec next to Labrador, the road ends and then there is mountains for several hundred kms to the next road which is unreachable. Quebec is very happy that MD N, District N 3 adopt these two clubs. There will be a motion come forward as it is something that has to go to the floor at the Convention in the Spring, however the current Council can provisionally accept these two clubs into the Multiple pending outcome of the floor vote at the Spring Convention.

PDG Val stated that provisional means that they would accept them faithfully on a trial period to give them to give them the opportunity to Charter and to continue their work in their community but it won’t be actually officially Chartered until it is passed by the Multiple and the District of N3. This has already gone through the Council at MD U and they are more than happy about this situation. This will be presented on Saturday for it to be moved forward to the Spring Convention.

New Business

MD Scarves – Seems to be interest now for more MD Scarves. It was noted May 21, 2017 still request for MD Scarves and a minimum order of 100 scarves was needed. This was done with each District getting 25 scarves, now again we are looking for more.

After a discussion it was stated that N2 could move 50 with no trouble. CC Paul asked Lion Bev to introduce the Convention Shirt. Of course Dr. Patti Hill is on the ballot for next year at the Convention for 3VP and they have a shirt for this. It is red with white and her name on it. This is what they deemed for convention dress for advertising her for all of Canada to wear. Shirts are $45 and available to all. The scarves could be worn with this.

DG Jennifer moved to purchase 100 scarves & N2 takes 50 with the remainder stays with the CST for distribution when needed. Motion was seconded by DG Edgar. Motion Carried.

Chair Vacancies – CST Communications Chair

Applications are due Jan 15, 2019. From the summer council meeting there was one member interested and I met with him. I have put together a CST Manual. It is in a rough draft right now. It has been sent to the Constitution & By Laws Chair for review and she made a few changes but still needs to be updated.DG’s asked for this to be put out for distribution with the application for info for anyone interested in this position.

CC Paul asked for items to be brought forward.PDG Valerie brought forward her Notice of Motion

Whereas District N-3 has received requests for the formation of a Lions Club in the Municipality of Bonne Esperence and where as the Multiple District U has authorized this. Therefore be it resolved that the municipality of Bonne Esperance, in the Province of Quebec be granted Lions Club Membership in District N-3 in the Province of Newfoundland & Labrador.As well, we accept them as a provisional club until voted on at the Spring Multiple N Convention in Antigonish on May 24- 26, 2019.

Boundary lines for Sub District N-3 be amended by including at the end of the current N-3 boundary lines statement the words“and to include the Lions Club of Blanc Sablon and the Municipality of Bonne Esperance in the Province of Quebec”

PDG Paul Baker stated that the club should be chartered now and not wait till the spring. They would be counted in the District N3 numbers and Multiple N’s numbers. Only difference is they have the word provisional in there. They have a sponsoring club and 2 guiding lions.

DG Edgar moved to allow PDG Val present her request for the addition of another club from Quebec be moved forward till tomorrow. Motion was seconded by DG Jennifer. Motion Carried

Constitution & By Law has some recommendations for C& BL to bring forth. Hospitality book cost be raised to $60 Budget added for Fall Conference up to $350 Automobile rate is written as rate of International in Canadian funds, recommendation

that we put Dollar amount in. At present it is at $.31 Cdn. This is a Policy matter so sitting Council can change it without taking it to the floor.

DG Jennifer moved to accept C&BL items to move forward for tomorrow. Motion was seconded by DG Perry. Motion carried.

PDG Paul stated that workshops to new clubs are free from LCI. PDG Paul stated he is a Campus Club Specialist but he does do regular clubs.

PDG Valarie stated that the official launch of New Voices in MDN will be tomorrow.

Welcome from Conference Chair PCC Lion Sonny Bonnell. PCC Sonny thanked all the Lions for a successful weekend with 110 registrations and the banquet being sold out. He is more than pleased with the representation for the weekend. On behalf of his home club Simonds Lion Club, Multiple District N and District N1 thank you very much for an enjoyable weekend and enjoy it. Thank you.

Agenda is changing for this morning is changing. There was to be a presentation by a lady with a canine vision dog, unfortunately she fell and got a concussion and on Doctor’s orders to lay low so is unable to attend today. The Autism Dog presentation will still take place in the afternoon. PCC Susan will present her Are you Ready to be a Guiding Lion this morning.

This afternoon at 2:15 there was to be a training session to take place for the Multiple District GLT & GMT & GST but where we have PDG Paul Baker he is prepared to do a presentation. DG Reports

District N 1 Report (presented by 1st VDG Lloyd on behalf of DG Jim who was unable to attend)

District Governor Jim brought a message to District N 1 from International President Gudrun Yngvadottir, the first female President in the history of Lions Clubs International. “We serve the world and our local communities with pride, compassion and kindness. But there is a world of Service yet to be reached….Once discovered, it will open a level of humanitarian good the world has never seen. It’s out there somewhere BEYOND THE HORIZON” District N 1 have set their Goals for 2018-19. They include:

3. Membership:(a) +49 for a yearend total – 1851(b) 2 new clubs with a Lions Club in the second quarter and a Campus club in the third

quarter(c) Membership target drop – 169(d) Increase the percentage of women membership from 22.7% to 29%(e) Theme of “Just Ask”

4. Leadership:(a) Delivery of training for the Incoming Officers at the Annual Convention and the Zone

The District Governor’s motto for 2018-2019 is “WE SERVE/NOUS SERVON with the theme of “Just Ask”. A few visits have been done as well as Charter celebrations either done or schedules. The Vice District Governors have been filling in for DG Jim on occasion.

District N2

District N2 started year with 1776 Members. Since July 1, we have added 93 members but unfortunately we have lost 80. As of October 30, 2018 we list a Membership of 1789 giving us a net gain of 13 members.

Already this year District N2 has successfully Chartered a new Club. On October 20 we celebrated the formal Charter of the Tatamagouche 2018 Lions Club with 23 members. This brings us to 70 Clubs in the District.

The Acadia University Club presently a Branch Club of the Wolfville Lions Club is on the way to becoming the second Campus Club in the District.

Bothe the DGO held July 28, 2018 in Sackville and the Fall Cabinet Meetings held October 12 & 13 in Lawrencetown were both successful with attendance of 164 & 152 respectively.

Both the GMT & GLT have been busy with workshops and seminars for the Clubs. One area of concern was the Cape Breton area. We are planning a combined Officer School, Orientation Session and General Information session for Lions of that area in the next few weeks.

The committee for the New Voices Program has been named and are anxious to get this program underway. L/Kim Stewart Membership, Z/C Catherine Gibson in Leadership, L/Veronica Webb in Service and L/Sarah Hartman in Marketing.

Zone Chair Mike Turner from Zone 6 and Zone Chair Larry Kennedy from Zone 10 have both stepped down due to family issues and have been replaced by PDG Mark Durnford in Zone 6 and L/Curt Wentzell in Zone 10.

Our proposed District Projet of Building a treatment room at the IWK Oncology and Hematology Dept is awaiting a total cost list from the Hospital and has been put on hold. Estimated cost is 50-55 thousand dollars. Approval in principal has been motioned but needs to be brought back to long range planning for final recommendation.

PDG Rhonda has been working with Lions Quest, The Cadets and HRP Community Policing to bring the Lions Quest program back into the District. Workshop is scheduled late in November.

So far this year I have made 25 official visits to Clubs in the District. I did new member inductions in Parrsboro and Digby during my visits to those clubs.

As well as attending the Charter Celebration of the Tatamagouche 2018 Lions Club, I attended the 72 Charter Anniversary of the Bedford Lions Club and the 20th Charter Anniversary of the Chester Basin New Ross Chester Lions Club.

District N2 was recognized by the NS Lung Association as Community Group of the Year for our involvement in collecting over 150 used CPAP machines that were able to be refurbished and put back out to needy persons in the community.

Both the eye glass recycling and Hearing for All projects are very important projects to the Clubs in the District.

All clubs are active and International Commitments are up to date. The Oxford Club is still out of action due to the Environmental problem they suffered earlier in the year. They are awaiting results of Insurance and Government to determine the fate of their club and property.

District N2 is still quite busy quite active and are looking forward to having a successful year.

District N 3

First, I wish to bring greetings on behalf of the great District of N3. It is also the great geographically and still growing in numbers and size. As you are no doubt aware, we have now extended our boundary into southeastern Quebec to include Blanc sablon where we recently formed a new club, with plans for even greater expansion in that area. We now have 43 Lions Clubs, 4 Leo Clubs, 3 Branch Clubs and 4 Lioness Clubs with approximately 1150 Lions members and adding almost every day. Charters were issued just this last weekend for two new Clubs: Viking Trail Centennial Club and the Blanc Sablon Centennial Club, with plans for more. The GMT team accompanied by Paul Baker, just held meetings in St. Paul, Quebec, where there is a lot of interest in forming a club. And, there are other interests. Our retention rate is not perfect but we've improved quite a bit in that area. Yes, thanks to our GLT team under the guidance of PDG Lion Valerie Clarke, and many other Lions, the goal of 1250 members and a full fledge district appears to be very much a reality, and we hope not long from now. The New Voices initiative appears to reaping dividends already as more women are becoming Lions. 40% of our membership is now female, up 4% in little over a year. We are closing the parity or is it the disparity gap! We are happy to have PDG Lion Valerie Clarke from our district as Constitutional Speaker for all of Canada.I must congratulate PDG Lion Valerie Clarke, District N3 GMT Chair, for her recent accomplishments. She has received the District Governor Extension Award, recognizing her for

achievement in new club development during her year as governor. Also, she has earned the prestigous pin from the Faculty Development Institute held in Atlanta, Georgia in January, 2018. It becomes even more prestigous knowing that only 50% of the group was successful. Thanks to the great work of Lion Valerie and her GMT, N3 has been recognized for having the greatest net membership growth for all of North America. And, because of that hard work, 1st VDG Erle accepted the International President's Award, on my behalf, at the Canada-US Forum held in Columbus, Ohio, in September, 2018. This award, apparently the only one in all of North America, is given in recognition of dedication to membership and new club development in the district. There are obviously a lot of great things happening in our district located in the far northeast corner of this continent. Of course, we like to think that all of this multiple district shares the pride of our success.GLT Chair, PCC Lion Penny and her committee had plans for leadership training in October, but that got derailed due to lack of interest. That is most unfortunate...no one can have too much training. But, Lion Penny is not easily discouraged and has other plans for training throughout the district over the next few months. We strongly encourage all Lions to participate.To date, I've visited 17 Clubs throughout the district and have been very much impressed with what I've experienced. There's lots of enthusiasm and many clubs are only just getting back in action after the summer slowdown when many Lions move away for employment or are busy with things at home. Still, there are a lot of good things happening as Lions continue helping the needy around their respective communities. Most clubs do a good job at home, which is great. No one would want to change that, but we need to do more educating, I think, to get Lions to have a better understanding of what it means to be international. I'm not sure that we're doing a good job at getting that message out.The district Cabinet Meeting at the Botwood Lions Club on August 25 was well attended and very successful, with all Lions appearing excited and enthused about what we do. The fall Conference, held in my home club of Twillingate on October 19 - 21 was also well attended and very successful. There was a great feeling of excitement as Lions are getting back into action after the summer "break."All zones have had meetings and everything appears to be going well. I'm not hearing a lot from some District Chairs, but I feel confident that that will change in the coming months. Those that are reporting, appear to be making things happen and I thank them.Thanks to all Lions in the Multiple District for the great work you do. District N4

District N4 started the year with 1214 members, added 36 but dropped 35, net gain of 1. Hoping to add at least one new club this year.

We have 6 Leo Clubs.

To date I have visited 5 clubs, with another 25 confirmed dates and inducted 7 new members.

During my visits I encourage clubs to reach beyond their limits, to reach within their clubs, communities and selves. To focus on four important areas of Lionism.

1- Moving Membership Forward2- Increasing Leadership Development3- Promoting The Fellowship of Lions4- Sharing our Stories

To focus on Diabetes, Vision, The Environment, Hunger & Childhood Cancer. I also speak on the New Voices Initiative celebrating women’s contributions to lionism. I have my 4 New Voices positions filled.

Clubs are busy supporting their communities, district and Lions Clubs International.

1st Vice District Governor attended the USA/Canada Forum in Columbus, Ohio and our 2nd VDG will be attending ALLI – Advanced Lions Leadership Institute next week in Winnipeg.

Our first District Convention was held October 19 – 21 in Marystown. We had 89 Lions attend the Cabinet Meeting on Friday night. 1st Vice District Governor met with all 10 of our Zone Chairs who gave brief reports of their zones. Our GLT Team provided a Question and Answer session for club secretaries as well as an Orientation for new members. Meet and Greet was very well attended with a theme of Black and White.

149 attended the General Session on Saturday morning, 24 of the 35 District chairs gave reports. The Budge for 2018-2019 was presented and approved. Lion Bradley Moss, our Sight Conservation Chair showed a video of Team Broken Earth’s recent visit to Haiti, accompanied by two other members from District N4, it was a very moving video. Our Pediatric Chair is planning a family retreat to be held at the Lion Max Simms Memorial Camp next summer. We have a student from Australia interested in participating in a Youth exchange with a student in our district during December.

We had 200 attend the Banquet on Saturday evening; I was the Guest speaker for the evening and spoke on my goals and the International President’s goals. PDG Lion Diane presented her awards.

Quest Foundation Chair met with the RNC Chief this past week to discuss Lions Quest, and felt it was the most productive/supportive meetings his attended. Will be meeting with them again in 2 weeks to plan a way forward. Will be meeting with the Minister of Education next week and hopes this will be a productive meeting, it is important that we get Lions Quest in the schools.

Training for Club Secretaries & Zone Chairs will be taking place November 17 & 18.

I will be contacting the remaining clubs to book my visits.

It’s been an enjoyable year so far and looking forward to the remainder.

Constitution & By Laws

Recommend that the following section of the Multiple District N Policy Manual be amended to read as follows:

APPENDIX “I”RULES COVERING REIMBURSMENT OF EXPENSES POLICY FOR MULTIPLE DISTRICT N

4.Transportationa) Automobile

The allowance for automobile is as per rate of international $.31 in CDN funds, all inclusive. If an automobile is used for trips within the Multiple District, the total claims…….

Recommend that the following section of the Multiple District N Fall Conference Handbook be amended to read as follows:

MULTIPLE DISTRICT CONVENTION COMMITTEE

Section 4 The members of the Council shall be the officers of the annual Multiple District Convention. Once a District has been awarded a MD N Convention it is recommended that the following actions be applied.

10. Financial information specific to the Fall Conference:

a) Hospitality Books including Registration fee are not to exceed $45. $ 60

h) The conference chairperson is allowed a maximum of $350 (receipts to be included) to defray costs related to the Fall conference organization - room, meals, hospitality book, and mileage. Maximums as per MD N policy Appendix I apply

3. DUTIES OF THE COUNCIL SECRETARY-TREASURER

F) To transfer to the incoming Council Secretary-Treasurer the sum of $5,000.00 from Administration Funds to enable the new Council to cover legitimate expenses incurred up to the turning over of all

Multiple District records. Such transfer shall be made at the meeting of the new Council immediately following the close of the Multiple District Convention.

Since going to the Permanent CST position we don’t need that. The books stay where they are, the bank stays where they are and any expenditures have to be authorized so the signing Officers will just change to the new CST and Council Chair and one sitting District Governor.

GMT

All Districts are working hard with membership;

N1 is sad to report their numbers are down by -19 members even though they have had an increase of 22 new members in this first quarter. N1 started with 1802 and sits now at 1783. N1 has the largest number of clubs in the multiple, now at 79 clubs.N1 is showing 14% of the clubs not doing monthly membership reports and is working on bettering that percentage.N1 is the first district in MDN to have a Specialty Club; Irishtown Ladder-up Specialty Inc. Lions Club. This club is a non-Traditional lions club to what we all know a Lions Club to be, having a lot of uniqueness. It specializes in taking individuals not up to the provincial education standards for trade school, but wanting to learn and have those standards in the different trades to become licenced trades people. Once up to the trade school level they continue on in the system and/or moving forward in their trade, now able to participate in an apprentice ship program. Club funds are raised from their efforts through the provincial education system, other government and/or corporate programs. They serve their community by bringing these clients to a trade level, bettering their lives and enrichening their community.

N2 is happy to report an in crease of 6 new members to date, starting with 1776 now at 1782. N2 now has 70 clubs.N2’s GM Team is working hard with clubs and Zones in the area of growth and retention. They are in the process of reaching out to all dropped members in resent years, asking for reasons why they left our organization, hoping to find a common denominator and fix if possible.N2 Welcomed a new club in 2018; Tatamagouche & District Lions Club Chartered October 20th.Two clubs in N2 are working on forming a New Leo Clubs in each of their areas working alongside and with their District GMT.

N3 continues on this Lionistic year after a lot of hard work and good luck having continued growth. N3 has Chartered 2 new clubs in their District; Viking Trail Centennial Lions Club and Blanc Sablon Centennial Lions Club.N3 has the smallest number of clubs and members in the multiple, but is the fastest growing District. They have 43 clubs to date with a positive growth of 75 new members this quarter.Lions are all working very hard through out the whole district consecrating in areas like Grand Falls, where there was a former club a couple of years ago that operated for 66 years prior to disbanding. They are also working with MDU (Quebec) giving them approval to canvas in their district, in the community of St. Paul to form a new club. If successful, there will be a Notice of Motion presented at our MDN Convention in May, asking for authorization.N3 is growing rapidly these past couple of years and kudos to all. Praise given to all involved by making this success story come true.The GM Team gives Thanks to PDG Paul Baker for assisting. Lion Paul is the Constitutional Area New Club Chair Person, assisting all Lions in forming all the different kinds of clubs in CA’2.N3 now has 1143 members and are very confident they will hit the magic number of 1250 before the end of this Lionistic year.

N4 No Reports were summited, but in following N4’s membership numbers, they sit with a positive 1. N4 started this year with 51 Clubs, 1214 members and sits at 1215, where they added 36 new members and dropped 35.

I want to thank all Lions of MDN for all their efforts in growing our Multiple, through new members, new clubs and/or retention…... hard work and perseverance does pay off.

Let’s all do what we do best; Serve our Communities……. and in those areas that are lacking Lion, let’s try and form a new club

Budget & Audit

PDG Gerard moved for the acceptance of the Budget & Audit Report presented today. The audited statement will be presented in May. DG Edgar seconded the motion. Motion Carried.

The Budget Report will be attached to the end of the minutes.

CC Paul (as PDG of N1) made a presentation to Lions Jean & Linda Allen of the Winsloe Lions Club for Best Club Chairs for District N 1. Plaque is sponsored by the Rexton Lions Club and they also will receive a certificate.

CST Report

PDG Valerie has a Notice of Motion

Before she presents the Notice of Motion PDG Val would like everyone to have an understanding of what happened. When they went up to get the applications to start the club in Blanc Sablon they had some interest from another community on forming a club just about 30 minutes up the road. They call this area the end of the road on the north shore of Quebec. They met with them and Mayor Rodrick and he was impressed with what Lions do and when he saw the potential of what Lions could do for the community of Blanc Sablon he wanted us to come back and do a presentation to his community of Municipality of Bonne Esperance. Week before Fall Conference the GMT team along with PDG Paul went back and know have 24 signed applications and looks like the possibility of a new club with approximately 40 new members.

Motion

Whereas District N-3 has received requests for the formation of a Lions Club in the Municipality of Bonne Esperence and where as the Multiple District U has authorized this. Therefore be it resolved that the municipality of Bonne Esperance, in the Province of Quebec be granted Lions Club Membership in District N-3 in the Province of Newfoundland & Labrador.As well, we accept them as a provisional club until voted on at the Spring Multiple N Convention in Antigonish on May 24- 26, 2019.

Boundary lines for Sub District N-3 be amended by including at the end of the current N-3 boundary lines statement the words“and to include the Lions Club of Blanc Sablon and the Municipality of Bonne Esperance in the Province of Quebec”

PDG Val stated they are looking at a Provisional Club.

PDG Paul Baker explains what they mean by provisional. This is new territory for which we do have full approval from Multiple District U. It is not practical for them to have or administer clubs in that little tiny splitter next to Labrador. It is separated by several hundred kms of mountains with no road, there is no connection whatsoever. They are English speaking. This is

obvious something that has to go to the floor at the Spring Convention but in the meantime the current council can provisionally accept from now until the end of the current Lions year but by then it will have come to the floor for full membership voting to accept these areas permanently. We want them provisionally now rather than wait till the spring because we want these clubs to Charter not just hanging around.

CC Paul asked for a show of delegate cards from those in favor of moving this Motion forward to the Spring Convention, and those against. It has been approved to move it forward to the Spring Convention.

PDG Val stated that in other good news is that they are moving further up the coast of Labrador and looking at Cartwright, Maine, Happy Valley Goose Bay and also have 8 new members looking at forming a new club in Grand Falls, NL so 1250 here we come.

PCC Bev – Dr Patti Hill

PCC Bev is on Dr. Patti Hill’s committee for PEI and has an email from PID Bill Webber. Dr Patti Hill is busy campaigning over in Europe. They have created a shirt (will give pictures to each of the DG). The shirt is red with white trimming with Dr Patti Hill’s name on it and promoting it all across Canada as the Convention shirt for Milan, Italy. If Dr Patti Hill is successful shirts will be used as Convention shirt until her election 3 years from now.

PCC Bev has pins -5 pins with different gem stones in them ranging in price from $40 to $100, they are topaz, emerald, ruby, sapphire and diamonds. You can also purchase a set of the 5 pins in a plaque for $250.

Dr Patti Hill has been endorsed by LCI but there is a candidate running against her so this could present a problem especially to where the convention is going to be. She needs all the support we can give her so if you are on the fence about going strongly recommend you go and vote for Dr. Patti Hill.

PDG Paul Baker stated it really is important that we get out to vote because there is the possibly that she may not get the vote because the other person running unofficially is living in Italy and very popular and very well known throughout Europe. He suggest that clubs try their very best to get their candidates to the Convention. He would like to suggest perhaps each club could do a little fundraiser something that all members could share in.

LCIF is our Foundation and our foundation gives back to us and to the world. It has distributed more grant funds than we actually raised. As of October 31, 2018 (US Funds), N1 $ 522.90

Lions of Canada have given $77,801.60 towards the Campaign. Remember to make all payments to Lions of Canada Fund for LCIF and send to PDG Stan Durward, Box 38, Sunderland, On, L0C 1H0. This fund will provide you with a Canadian charitable tax receipt

for your total yearly contribution. There will be alternate ways to make donations-credit card, pre-authorized chequeing, on-line. More information when set up.

Melvin Jones had a vision to restore sight and prevent blindness, mobilizing disaster relief, create positive learning environment for kids, serving the disabled, the elderly. We need to continue this service for the next 100 years.

Participation will be the key component for the campaign’s success. LCI is asking each and every Lion to consider what they can do to support the Campaign. Consider a gift of $2.50 per week which would mean $130.00 a year. What can your donation of $130.00 or more do:

2 cataract surgeries Lions Quest to an entire classroom for a year Measles vaccination for 100 children Diabetes screening for 18 at risk individuals Food, water, shelter to 4 people in the wake of a disaster 14 people access to clean water Purchase equipment to diagnose or treat 8 kids touched with childhood cancer

There are recognition strategies to encourage both individual and club giving. All gifts will count toward MJF credits.

Serious lack of info being sent, please if you want anything posted on the MD Website page it needs to be forwarded to PCC Susan Sangster. She does not have the time to go and get out all the Districts website pages to take info and use on the MD page. If there is anybody that would be interested in stepping up and helping her out with the webpage she uses Dream Weaver and would love to have the assistance.

CC Paul dismissed the body of the meeting but requested Constitution & By Laws and the District Governors to stay for an in camera session.

Funds for CST training – While we said that we would set up the CST training, in order to pay for them we have to set up at least a guide line for an amount of money. There was no mention of funding it and what are we covering.

From the Summer Council Meeting Minutes:

‘ CC Paul asked the question where the funds would come from. PDG Gerard stated that the section on Education & Training will rightly have an increase but will not change the current budget to reflect that. Constitution & By Laws stated there would have to be a document written to reflect it. If you are going to bring all four Districts into it you may include a little bit from each District but try and get the generic stuff covered and it would have to go to GLT to write the manual. May be able to get some info from LCI.

DG Jim moved to start a program at Spring Convention in Antigonish, NS to train not only VDGE’s but CST, CS, CT’s. DG Jennifer seconded this motion. Motion carried’

As of right now we have no frame work to bring it in this year. We have nothing prepared to teach, there is nothing written to train on, unless you are only going to rely on what LCI has written.

We are opening the door for substantial expense. The possibility of 3 CST’s, one CS and one CT. We need to set some guidelines with what are we going to cover, who are we are going to it for and how much we are going to allow to expend. We need to have it written.

Rules now for chairs are hotel at lowest rate offered, meals at $30 a day and travel at the most economical method.

Suggestion was made for Multiple District and Districts to cost share, but after discussion noted it was a little late for Districts to budget it for this year. Constitution & By Laws would like to see us if we are going to spend this money, roughly calculate an amount at least for this year and put it in the minutes for this year only to be reviewed after we get an idea of participation and of cost. Training manual is up to the GLT to put together. We need to find someone to present the training. It can be done but everything needs to be detailed out with a written amount as to what we are willing to spend for this year. Manual will be hard to write as each district does things differently.

DG Jennifer moved to revisit idea of CST training because of time frame of getting a manual together until further notice after discussion. No seconder on this motion

Ask MD GLT to work with the district GLT’s to prepare a manual for the CST training. If you want training at this MD Convention we could work from the existing CST Manual that LCI provides.

DG Jennifer moved $500 per district plus cost of trainer to provide CST training for May 2019, to be revisited for permanent evaluation. DG Edgar seconded the motion. Motion carried. We need the commitment from the districts that their incoming CST’s will be attending in order to make it worthwhile.

CC Paul presented a letter of resignation of MD N GST Lion Heather. District Governor’s need to accept or decline this letter of resignation.

DG Perry moved to accept resignation of Lion Heather MacDonald as MD N GST coordinator. DG Jennifer seconded the motion. Motion carried
