RE: Thankfulness – our topic in Palm Class for RE over the Summer Term. This is a perfect time during the challenging world that we’re currently living in to explore this concept. Make a thank you card for a member of our community. This could be a neighbour, a friend who has been kind, a parent who helped you with your learning, the postman, a shop keeper. Remember to tell them in your card what you are thankful for and make your card beautiful. Don’t forget to leave it somewhere for them to find. EG: Mr Postman, Thank you for delivering our mail and for working so hard. Mummy / Daddy, thank you for helping so much with all of my learning. This week marks 75 year since VE Day when we remember the end of the War in Europe. If we were not in lockdown there would be lots of street parties and special things going on around the country to celebrate. We are going to show that we are thankful this week by doing something in our homes to celebrate. This could be something small like drawing a picture to commemorate or making a flag to wave or making a cake to celebrate. There’s no expectation to go overboard but this is such a wonderful occasion to mark. Please send a picture to the email address or post on Twitter how you are celebrating at home and I shall collate them to share with everyone. Further ideas: a tea party at home, make a paper party hat, watch and learn a vintage dance on Youtube, follow a war time recipe or make a paper spitfire or complete the VE Day Wordsearch or the VE Day Comprehension (Templates on the Palm Class Page of the School Website).Create a Thankful / Grateful Jar - As the world becomes more and more disposable, and with everything available at our fingertips at any time of

Palm Class Year 2 / 3 Down on the Farm

Suggested Home Learning Activities for week commencing Monday 1st June 2020the day, we can sometimes miss the simple things that we should be thankful for. Find yourself a clean empty jar, decorate it and attach a label – create your own label or use one from the sheet provided. Place the jar somewhere in your house where it can be seen. Take a moment each day or week to write down something that you are grateful/thankful for on the blank cards or spare pieces of paper (make sure you add the date) and place it in the jar. On a date that you choose, such as one year from when you started, open the jar and read through all of your gratefulness notes. It might surprise you that sometimes it is the simplest of things that can make you smile. (There is a template and further instructions on the Palm Class Page of the School Website). It would be great to see your jars and read some of the things you are grateful for so you could tag @ClassPalm on Twitter or email the homework address. Take a little time to do some thinking… Write about or draw the things that are good in your life, things or people that make you happy and that you are thankful for. What have you learnt about ‘Thankfulness’ so far? Make a note of all of these different things in your book.
