Throughout the Bible, 139 times, miracles were accomplished when someone was told to “go,” “come,” or “do this.” As they accomplished what they were told to do, a miracle from Almighty God occurred. Every major miracle accomplished through the Prophets, Jesus and His Disciples were done using this principle found in Matthew 18:19.

Understanding the Difference in “Agreement” and “An Agreement”

“Agree”(Matthew 18:19) (GR) Sumpheneo – is speaking of “an agreement,” (a compact) not merely “agreement” –Strong’s Dictionary - GR.: Sumphoneo – To stipulate by compact (contract); to make an agreement; from a root (GR): Sumphonos – To be harmonious (Symphony); to sound together. The Complete Word Study Dictionary – “Agree” (GR)– Sumphoneo – A compact – followed by (GR) Peri – “Agree as touching” - in compounds “Peri” (touching) retains substantially the same meaning as “circuit (around); completeness.

A Contrast between “An Agreement” (Sumphoneo – a binding Compact/Contract) (Matthew 18:19); and “Agreement” (Root – Sumphonos – to be harmonious; sound together): 1. A Binding Agreement (Compact or Contract) is always based on an “Offer” containing a

“Promise” enforceable in law.

2. The Agreement must contain a Promise.a. It must be more than a general observation or proposition.

b. It must have a “Basis” for a “Binding Agreement.”

i. If “A” says to “B,” “the world is round,” and “B” adds his agreement, you may have “harmony – (GR) Sumphonos,” but there is no legal significance.

Legal Term: CONSIDERATION

An act of a “promisee” in reliance upon a promise enforceable in law.

Purpose of Act of Consideration

The “Act of Consideration” contractually binds the Promisor and the Promisee to the Agreement once the act of consideration is completed, provided it is within the legalities of the system of law.

EXAMPLE: “I set myself in agreement with you. I agree with you that your bills will be (are) paid!”

ii. If, on the other hand, “A” says to “B,” “If you will do thus and so, I promise you will receive thus and so,” and “B” assents to it, you then have the “Basis” for a “Binding Agreement” (GR) Sumphoneo It is, however, not “Binding” until “B” does the “thus and so” stipulated within the agreement.

EXAMPLE: Believer says to another believer, “In the name of Jesus, If you want your bills paid, go borrow vessels, borrow not a few, and bring them into your house and lock your door. Then begin pouring from the little cruise of oil you have in your pantry. The cruise will not fail until all the pots are full… then go sell the oil produced and pay your bills and have left over for future needs.” ( 2Kings 4:1-7)

3. A “Binding Agreement” must contain an “Act of Consideration.”

a. Consideration, in legal terms, is “The Stipulated Act of the Promisee” in reliance upon the “Promise.”

i. EXAMPLE : I say to you, “If you will paint my house by the end of this week, I will give you $1,000.” Painting my house by the end of this week would be the “stipulated act” in reliance upon the promise that I would give you $1,000.

ii. SPIRITUAL EXAMPLE : Jesus said to Peter, “Launch out into the deep and let down your (shallow water) nets, and you will catch a multitude of fish.” In order for the Father (in Heaven) to grant the fulfillment of Jesus promise, Peter must first carry out the stipulated act of the promise and launch out into the deep and let down his nets.

iii. SPRITUAL EXAMPLE : Genesis 12:1-4 MSG “GOD told Abram: ‘Leave your country, your family, and your father's home for a land that I will show you. (2) I'll make you a great nation and bless you. I'll make you famous; you'll be a blessing. (3) I'll bless those who bless you; those who curse you I'll curse. All the families of the Earth will be blessed through you.’ (4) So Abram

Motive is Immaterial

MOTIVE is universally immaterial in an agreement provided that it is not outside the boundaries of the law.

left just as GOD said, and Lot left with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he left Haran.”

b. Two parties can not “Walk Together” except they are in agreement.”

Amos 3:3 KJV “Can two walk together, except they be agreed?”

Here you have God’s Word declaring that it is in the “action” or Act of Consideration, that proof of the agreement may be found. From our definitions at the start, you might say that the purpose of “sumphonos – an agreement” is to prove “sumphoneo – sounding together.” Two may “sound in harmony together,” and yet when they begin to walk it out, they may find that they were not in agreement. It is therefore the action of the parties that proves they are, in all actuality, in agreement. Many people have quoted Matthew 18:19, then “sounded together in agreement,” just to have no occurrence of a miracle, their agreement not binding, because their agreement did not stipulate a promise with an appropriate Act of Consideration (the thing done by the promisee in reliance upon the promise).

4. “Motive” for the agreement is of no material significance provided it is within the boundaries of the system of law.

a. EXAMPLE : It makes no difference why I might want you to paint my house. Should there be a contract dispute, my motive for wanting my house painted would have no bearing on the case.

b. SPIRITUAL EXAMPLE : When Peter walked on the water, he said, “Lord if it’s you, bid me come unto you on the water.” Jesus did not deal with “Motive.” He did not reason with Peter, “Peter, why do you want to do this?” He merely said, “Come.”

c. SPIRITUAL EXAMPLE : When Jesus issued the agreement to turn the water into wine, His Mother said to Him, “We have run out of wine for the wedding feast.” He attempted to reason with her, i.e. “What business is that of mine?” She simply turned to the servants and said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you do it.” He simply said, “Fill the water pots up with water,” and they filled them up to the brim. Lastly, He said, “Now go serve it to the governor of the Feast.” Motive was never discussed as an issue. “And they served it.” When they did it became wine.

Exact Meeting of the Minds

Both the Promises made in an agreement and the Act of Consideration require evidence of a “Meeting of the Minds.”

d. SPIRITUAL EXAMPLE : In the biblical account of Naaman the Leper, when he came to Israel to find cleansing and healing of his leprosy, he came with gifts to honor whoever might be able to give him his miracle. When the King sent him to Elisha, the prophet, Elisha didn’t even come out to meet him, rather he sent his servant, Gehazi, out with a message to him, “Go, dip seven times in the Jordan river, and your flesh will come again to you… you will be cleansed and healed.” (Paraphrased) When Naaman heard the offer for this agreement, he went into a rage, 2Ki 5:11-12 “Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper. Are not Abana and Pharpar, rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? May I not wash in them, and be clean? So he turned and went away in a rage.”

But when his servants reasoned with him, he turned and went and did according to the offer made by Elisha. When he did, he received the miracle promised him in the Agreement by the man of God.

5. An exact meeting of the minds is of vital importance.

a. EXAMPLE : In law, there is the case precedent, “Raffles vs. Wickelhaus.”

b. According to the case records, Mr. Raffles arranged an agreement for Mr. Wickelhaus to ship a load of cotton for him by the ship Peerless from Europe to the U.S. The agreement stipulated that Mr. Wickelhaus would ship Mr. Raffles cotton at the earliest sailing of the ship Peerless. Unknown to either of these, there were two separate shipping vessels named “Peerless.” One sailed from one port in October. The other sailed from another port in December. Mr. Wickelhaus knew only of the shipping vessel, “Peerless” leaving a particular port in December, but had no knowledge of the October sailing, nor of the existence of the other vessel named “Peerless.” Mr. Raffles, on the other hand, knew only of the October sailing vessel, “Peerless,” but nothing of the vessel that was to sail in December.

When Mr. Raffles’ expected cotton did not arrive in October, he immediately filed a law suit against Mr. Wickelhaus for failure to keep the agreement, citing “loss of business with a client involving an October deadline.”The court held that there was “No meeting of the minds,” therefore “an agreement” never existed, and consequently was not a “Binding Agreement.” Mr. Raffles was unable to collect his losses from Mr. Wickelhaus for failure to deliver in October. This case exemplifies how “agreement” is not the same as “an agreement.”

4

Page 5: donpickneyministries.orgdonpickneyministries.org/images/Law_of_Agreement_-7_KeysToThe...  · Web viewI thought of ministries such as Oral Roberts, Kenneth E. Hagin, and Kenneth Copeland.

c. EXAMPLE : If we were sitting in my family room, and I said to you, “Would you agree to get up and run around this house,” and you said, “Yes,” it would appear that we have agreement. So, I say to you, “Run!” You immediately jump up and begin exhaustively running around all of my furniture from room to room. When you finished I might say to you, “Why did you do that?” Your response would be, “Because you asked me to agree to run around your house.” “But,” I say to you, “You didn’t run around my house, you ran around the furnishings in my house. To run around my house, you would need to go out the door to the outside of my home for the accomplishment of what we agreed upon. In this case, there would be “No meeting of the Minds.”

d. SPIRITUAL EXAMPLE : Here is a scriptural example of the legal significance of “Meeting of the Minds.”

2 Kings 2:9-14 AMP “And when they had gone over, Elijah said to Elisha, Ask what I shall do for you before I am taken from you” [Here you have an offer of an agreement]. “And Elisha said, I pray you, let a double portion of your spirit be upon me [Here you have a desired promise]. (10) He said, You have asked a hard thing. However, if you see me when I am taken from you, it shall be so for you--but if not, it shall not be so [Here you have “Legal Consideration – the thing done by the Promisee in reliance upon the Promise]. (11) As they still went on and talked, behold, a chariot of fire and horses of fire parted the two of them, and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven. (12) And Elisha saw it [At this moment the Agreement became binding because Elisha performed the thing required to be done by the Promisee – establishing proof of “Meeting of the Minds] and he cried, My father, my father! The chariot of Israel and its horsemen! And he saw him no more. And he took hold of his own clothes and tore them in two pieces. (13) He took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him and went back and stood by the bank of the Jordan. (14) And he took the mantle that fell from Elijah and struck the waters and said, Where is the Lord, the God of Elijah? And when he had struck the waters, they parted this way and that, and Elisha went over.” [Here you have “Fulfillment of an Agreement.” God gave Elisha what he had requested through this agreement with God’s messenger, Elijah.] Matthew 18:19 KJV “Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.”

6. The Person offered the agreement is responsible for making certain of the knowledge of the terms.

a. EXAMPLE : In the case of Fonseca vs. Cunard Steamship Company, a passenger bought a ticket which contained on its face terms limiting the liability of the carrier

5

Page 6: donpickneyministries.orgdonpickneyministries.org/images/Law_of_Agreement_-7_KeysToThe...  · Web viewI thought of ministries such as Oral Roberts, Kenneth E. Hagin, and Kenneth Copeland.

Knowledge of Terms Important

The person being offered an agreement is responsible for making certain of the knowledge of the terms.

for the baggage of the passenger. It appeared that the passenger did not read the conditions, yet the court held he must be assumed to have known them since they were printed in full on the face of the ticket, and he could not set up that he had not read the terms of what amounted to the offer of a binding agreement.

The story was also told by my law professor of a young man who purchased a ticket for a voyage from the Europe to the U.S. Impoverished, before leaving home he bought a box of crackers because he only had just enough funds to purchase his ticket. It took many days for the ship to cross the ocean, and the young man was barely able to sustain himself as each day he allotted himself only a few crackers and water. The day before his arrival in the U.S., it came to the attention of the Captain of the ship that this young man appeared not to be well. When he questioned the young man, the Captain learned of his plight for the entire journey. Amazed, the Captain asked, “Where is your ticket receipt?” The young man promptly produced it for the Captain. The Captain, in utter astonishment said, “Young man, if you would just have read your receipt, you would have seen that the purchase of your ticket also included three meals for each day of your journey.”

b. SPIRITUAL EXAMPLE : This is the purpose of the exhortation found in Psalms 103:2-22 KJV “Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: (3) Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; (4) Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; (5) Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's. (6) The LORD executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed. (7) He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel. (8) The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. (9) He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever. (10) He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. (11) For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. (12) As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. (13) Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him. (14) For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust. (15) As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth. (16) For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more. (17) But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children; (18) ...to those that remember his commandments to do them. (19) The LORD hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all. (20) Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening

unto the voice of his word. (21) Bless ye the LORD, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure. (22) Bless the LORD, all his works in all places of his dominion: bless the LORD, O my soul.

Psalms 81:10-16 KJV “I am the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it. (11) But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would none of me. (12) So I gave them up unto their own hearts' lust: and they walked in their own counsels. (13) Oh that my people had hearkened unto me, and Israel had walked in my ways! (14) I should soon have subdued their enemies, and turned my hand against their adversaries. (15) The haters of the LORD should have submitted themselves unto him: but their time should have endured forever. (16) He should have fed them also with the finest of the wheat: and with honey out of the rock should I have satisfied thee.”

In the Law of Agreement - Authority Conferred to an Agent Expands Dominion rather than Diminish it

(As shown in the following scripture, the greater number of Centurions assigned by the Emperor, the greater the Emperor’s Kingdom. The Emperor doesn’t “give away” his authority

when he delegates it, neither does the Centurion when he delegates his power to another.)

Matthew 8:9 AMP “For I also am a man subject to authority, with soldiers subject to me. And I say to one, Go, and he goes; and to another, Come, and he comes;

and to my servant, Do this, and he does it.

7. Authority Conferred binds the Principle: Within the Authority conferred, an “Act of an Agent” is an “Act of the Principle.”

a. Level 1 of Jesus’ Law of Agency - John 6:28-29 KJV “Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? (29) Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.” [The works of God are done when you believe on Him whom He hath sent.]

b. Level 2 of Jesus’ Law of Agency - John 12:44 KJV “Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me.”

c. Level 3 of Jesus’ Law of Agency - John 13:20 KJV “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.”

Demonstrations of the Spirit of the Law of Agreement(A Few Examples in Dr. Don G. Pickney’s Ministry)

Mark 16:20 MSG “And the disciples went everywhere preaching, the Master working right with them, validating the Message with indisputable evidence.”

While there have been many miracles under our ministry validating the truth of the Spiritual Law of Agreement, I will share three testimonies, each quite different, but demonstrating how the Law of Agreement has brought manifestation.

Testimony #1

On July 4, 1975, my wife, Olene, broke both of her legs. Some of the kids were out pitching basketball hoops in the concrete driveway which was on slanted ground. Olene went out to check on them and decided to show them her basketball prowess from her school days. She went up for a jump shot, but came down on the slanted concrete without her proper balance. When she landed, there was a very loud snap of both of her legs. She broke both bones in both of her legs between the shin and the knee. They rushed her to the hospital emergency room, where she was treated by a local bone specialist. He set her the bones in her legs and put them in casts with instructions that they would remain for six to eight weeks for proper mending. She had just buried her husband, Bob, three months prior, due to an untimely death, leaving her a widow with a 5 year old ready to start school and a young teen daughter just entering high school. (Olene and I later married in 1983.) As the sole provider, she owned a beauty school and two beauty shop locations. As the head of the school, it was her responsibility to both instruct and to supervise her lead instructor, plus tend to the day to day needs of the many students. Additionally, she had to manage the two beauty salons owned by her. With both legs broken and in casts, she found herself overwhelmed. I had been close friends of both Olene and her husband, as well as both of their extended families.

On the evening of the third day of her broken leg, I stopped by with other friends to check on her and encourage her. She was, however, in much pain, and so I cut my visit short and returned home.

Sometime mid-morning the following day, I received a phone call from Olene. She said, “Don, I am hurting so badly, please pray or do something!” I agreed to pray. When I hung up the phone, I took a few steps from the phone to the middle of my living room. There, I fell to my knees and bowed myself towards the carpet on the floor. Unexpectedly, I began to sob and weep so deeply, such as I had never experienced in my life. After some extended period, I awakened from a deep sleep. I looked at my watch and about 20 minutes had passed. I immediately rebuked myself for falling asleep. But then I noticed something. As quickly as the rebuking thought had flashed through my mind, it was replaced with the greatest depth of silence I had ever experienced within. My mind was totally quiet, with no thoughts circulating, just total and complete silence within.

8

Page 9: donpickneyministries.orgdonpickneyministries.org/images/Law_of_Agreement_-7_KeysToThe...  · Web viewI thought of ministries such as Oral Roberts, Kenneth E. Hagin, and Kenneth Copeland.

Then suddenly, I heard these impressions within me, “Get up, go call Olene. Tell her to place a solid white cloth on her head and go to the doctor. He will examine her, and find that she has been made whole. He will tell her that he doesn’t understand what has happened, but he will remove the casts and she will leave totally whole.”

I stood up and began to pray concerning what I had heard. As I paced the floor back and forth, I said to God, “God, I don’t remember any of my teachers and mentors in the ministry ever sharing anything like this.” I thought of ministries such as Oral Roberts, Kenneth E. Hagin, and Kenneth Copeland. Not a one had experienced anything of this sort. Suddenly, I heard the voice of the Spirit say, “No, but you will find this type of ministry in the scriptures where someone was told to “go and do” as instructed, and when they went and did it, they received a great miracle.”

The Holy Spirit reminded me of Naaman, who was instructed to go dip seven times in the Jordan River. When he finally was convinced to do it, he was cleansed of his leprosy and made whole. Hezekiah was instructed by Isaiah to place a lump of figs on a fatal cancer that had left him with only a short time to live, and he was told that within the space of three day he would be totally well. Jesus spit and made mud of the spittle. He then placed it like a plaster on a blind man’s eyes and instructed him to go wash in the pool of Siloam. When he went and washed, he received his sight. I had recently done a study of the 139 times these types of instructions were given and a miracle occurred. Then the Holy Spirit said to me, “I am not asking you to do what Brother Roberts does, or that of Kenneth E. Hagin, or Brother Copeland. I am asking you to obey my voice and call Olene and give her the promise that if she will do this she will be made whole of these two broken legs.”

As I continued praying and rehearsing all of this in my mind, suddenly the phone rang. It was a lady named, Clella Davis who lived in our town. When I answered the call, she said, “Brother Don, this is Clella. I have been in prayer for your ministry, and God just spoke to me and said, ‘Call brother Don and tell him, you have the answer now act on it!’ Brother, I’m just telling you what God spoke to me just now.” I thanked her, pressed the button on the phone to get a new dial tone. I dialed Olene and shared God’s promise and instruction to her. Her response was swift. She said, “I’ll never do that!” Then she immediately hung up on me.

I was disappointed that I had failed to get a better response, but I moved on into my day with what I had planned to do. Sometime early afternoon, my phone rang again. It was Olene. She said, “Don, do you have the time to meet me a Shoney’s restaurant?” I said that I could, and we set a time about 30 minutes later to meet there. I asked her, “Do you need me to come and pick you up?” She replied, “No, I’ll meet you there.”

When I arrived at the restaurant, as I pulled into the parking lot, I saw Olene walking across the parking area about halfway between her car and the front door. She was walking perfectly. I caught up with her as she was opening the front door. As we entered, a local businessman acquainted with her met us as he was coming out. He said, “Olene! I heard about you breaking your legs…” as his voice became a bewildered trailing off into a questioning silence. She replied,

9

Page 10: donpickneyministries.orgdonpickneyministries.org/images/Law_of_Agreement_-7_KeysToThe...  · Web viewI thought of ministries such as Oral Roberts, Kenneth E. Hagin, and Kenneth Copeland.

“Yes, they were, but now they are healed!”

As we sat with a cup of coffee, she shared how that after she had hung up the phone, she began to rehearse it all in her mind. She then called a friend across town and asked if she could come by and take her to the doctor. (With two broken legs, she was totally invalid, and confined to a wheelchair.) She asked her friend, “Could you please stop at a store on the way over and buy a solid white scarf for me?’ The friend agreed to do it, and arrived shortly with the solid white scarf. She took her to the doctor. As Olene was wheeled into the doctor’s office, she felt somewhat foolish. Still, her friend never questioned the scarf.

The doctor examined her, ran the appropriate tests, and with a most bewildered expression, said to her, “Olene, I don’t understand any of this. I know your legs were broken. But we can take the casts off. You are well!” She walked out of the doctor’s office and called me to meet and share her testimony with me. Neither of us had any idea that eight years later we would fall in love and be married.

Testimony #2

Later, in 1975, I was asked to speak on a Sunday afternoon at a local community center in Kennett, Missouri. The room was packed, and I was unaware that a Baptist Pastor was seated in the very last row at the back of the building. God’s Spirit moved mightily and a lady by the name of Mary Stillman Wright was miraculously healed of crippling arthritis. Her hands, legs and feet were terribly swollen and twisted. She also had gout in her spine as a result of her disease. She was healed and before leaving the service testified of all her symptoms completely gone. She later returned to her doctor. He ran his thumb up her spine and said, Mary, if I would have done that last week it might have killed you. I stayed in close touch with Mary up until the past few years. I learned last year that she passed away in 2010 at a very old age. She drove her own car right up until the end of her life and travelled extensively. She never again suffered any symptoms of the disease after that day.

I taught that Sunday afternoon on the Spiritual Law of Agreement. I returned to my home in Jonesboro, Arkansas late that evening. That night, shortly after midnight, my phone rang. It was the Baptist Pastor, reverend Charles James, also of Kennett. He pastured a church in a small community named, Rector.

When I answered the phone, he said, “Brother Don, this is Charles James. I was at your meeting earlier this afternoon in Kennett, Missouri and heard you speak. Sir, I had never heard anything like what you preached, however, I became convinced of it as you taught it from the scriptures. Here is my reason for calling you at this very late hour.”

At this point Rev. James explained that he had left the hospital where his little 4 year old son was being treated for asthma. He told me that his son had spent his entire 4 years in and out of the hospital due to very severe and chronic bouts with asthma. He said they he had almost died on more than one occasion due to the asthma attacks. He stated that when he left the service,

although he had no prior knowledge of God’s willingness to give his son a miracle, he was so inspired that it was in fact God’s will to heal his son.

He explained that later that day he took his son home from the hospital. Sometime later, his son suffered another, even more severe asthma attack. This was the reason for his call to me at this after-midnight hour.

Rev. James said, “Brother Don, I believe if you will pray, God will heal my son.” I said to him, “Brother James, I will pray!”

After I had finished my prayer, Reverend James said, “That’s it. Thank God, I believe my son is healed!” Then he said, “Brother Don, I want you to listen to this.” He then placed the phone near his son, and what I heard sounded something like someone attempting to “scratchily force a difficult breath… “ickkkk…” (long pause) “ickkkk…” (another long pause) “ickkk…” (still another pause). Then Reverend James said, “Sir, could you hear that?” I replied “Yes?” He said, that is my son trying to breath, but I believe when you prayed he was healed, so I’m not taking him back to the hospital. He will not have to live that life anymore.”

I thought to myself, “What can I say to him? I can’t tell him to stop believing after preaching to him the power of faith in God’s promises.” But even as I thought that, the devil was painting a picture in my mind of the headlines in the local paper: BAPTIST PREACHER’S SON DIES OF CHRONIC ASTHMA ATTACK AFTER CHARISMATIC MINISTER TELLS HIM HIS SON IS HEALED! I quietly rebuked that image and replied, “Praise God, yes he is healed!” I then asked him for his phone number before saying goodnight to him. I hung up the phone, walked over to my study door, closed and locked it. This was symbolic to me of Jesus words, Matthew 6:6 WNT “But you, whenever you pray, go into your own room and shut the door: then pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father--He who sees in secret--will recompense you.” In my studies I had learned the word “shut” was better rendered “securely fasten or lock.” I knew of course that the real subject of the verse was about praying in absolute secrecy so that we might be totally dependent upon God, but still, I often found myself exercising my faith in Jesus’ promise by actually locking the door.

I turned from the door and headed back across the office to my desk. I was determined that I would not cease or leave that room until I had heard a Word of Wisdom (one of the nine gifts of the Spirit). As I took the steps, I was praying in the spirit (in tongues). Before I could reach my desk, I heard these words from the Holy Spirit, “Call Reverend James. Tell him to lay his son down on the couch. Lay down on top of him. Place your mouth over his mouth and breath forcibly into him. Then sit him up and say, ‘In the Name of Jesus, come out of him.’ If you will do that, your son will be totally delivered of the asthmatic disease, and he will never suffer any of the symptoms again.”

Reverend James said, “Oh brother, I’ll do anything you say. I will do it!” I then reiterated, “Praise God, you have the answer for your son’s deliverance from asthma.”

After hanging up the phone, with my study door still locked, I began to pace the floor back and forth as I stayed prayerful in the spirit. Back and forth… back and forth… giving praise to God for this great miracle, mixed with staying in the spirit as my praise was both in English and in tongues. Quite a bit of time passed, perhaps as much as 20 to 30 minutes.

Suddenly the phone rang again! I picked up and said “Hello?” It was Reverend James again. He said, “Brother Don, I want you to listen to something! It appeared that he held the phone up in the air. What I heard sounded like a party going on. He said, “Can you hear that?” I said, “I hear something that sounds like a party?” He said, “What you are hearing is my Baptist Pastor-Wife who has never shown a spiritual emotion in her life… along with my two daughters, running all around this house shouting and praising God together for the miracle we have just witnessed.” I said, “Praise God! Tell me about it!”

He recounted how after hanging up the phone, he took his son from his mother and laid him on the couch. He then lay down on top of him and breathed forcibly into his mouth. Then he raised him up to a sitting position (as instructed) and said, “In the Name of Jesus, come out of him!” He said, “Brother Don, when I spoke those words to my son, something started happening. We heard a strange sound coming from deep down inside of him different than we had ever heard.” He went on, “My wife instinctively looked around and saw a paper bag lying nearby. She grabbed it quickly and shoved it under our son’s mouth just in time for him to convulse this horrible stuff up and into the bag.” He said, “Brother Don, our son raised up breathing perfectly with no more struggle or symptoms of the asthmatic attack.” He exclaimed to me, “We have witnessed our very first miracle! Our son no longer has asthma!” I said to him, “Praise God, brother James, and he will never suffer with it again! He is indeed healed!”

I received another call from him a couple of days later asking me to come and minister the baptism of the Holy Spirit to him and his wife. On the following Thursday evening I watched as they were gloriously filled with the Holy Spirit.

As previously stated, that miracle occurred in 1975. I later moved to S.E. Missouri, not too far from Kennett, Missouri where brother James later founded his full-gospel church after being asked to leave the church he was pastoring due to their discomfort of his insistence of preaching on healing and his practice of speaking in tongues.

His son, grew up and went through High School, excelling in school sports, and now as an adult, has never again had another asthmatic attack. God was faithful to his promise issued through his servant. Jesus said, “He that receives whomsoever I send, receives me, and he that receives me, receives him that sent me.” (John 13:20)

Testimony #3

Several years ago, after moving our ministry to Scottsdale, Arizona, there was a particular service in which at the end of the meeting, I received a Word of Knowledge (one of the nine

gifts of the Holy Spirit) that someone was present, who anytime they had any dairy product would become deathly sick and had in the past required hospitalization from this allergic condition. Immediately, a lady by the name of Queenie Lee stood up and acknowledged her condition to be exactly that. Her son was sitting beside her in the service and he quickly verified that this was true.

As I lay my hand upon her head, I heard these words from out of my spirit, “Tell her to leave this service, but before getting home tonight, stop at a supermarket and purchase whatever would be her most favorite item containing a dairy product. When she arrives home, she is to sit it before her, but first take a pinch of salt and sprinkle it on the product. Then, in celebration of her deliverance, she is to enjoy it to the full. Tell her, if she will do that, she will be healed of this allergic condition and will be able to enjoy any dairy product for the remainder of her life.”

I immediately took my hand from her head and shared this Word of Wisdom with her. She glanced over at her son, now, along with everyone else standing. His mouth dropped open, and he said, “But Pastor Don, you don’t understand, any dairy product sends my mother into a grave emergency!” You could tell that he was quite alarmed at this word from me to his mother. I turned back to Queenie. I smiled reassuringly to her, and said very confidently, “But, I promise you, if you will do this thing, you will be able to enjoy dairy products from now on!” She glanced momentarily back to her son and husband who were standing there, and then, looking into my eyes with a determination said, “Pastor Don, I will do it!”

On their way home, they stopped at the supermarket and bought ice cream, the thing she missed enjoying the most. They went into their dining area and served ice cream in celebration of this healing. But first, Queenie sprinkled salt on her ice cream, declaring her deliverance from this allergy. Later that evening, they witnessed their miracle as she completed her serving of delicious ice cream with no allergic consequences. Now, after several years since her miracle occurred, she enjoys any dairy product she desires.

Recently, we were asked to join Mike and Queenie Lee for their 60th wedding anniversary. At the restaurant, after our meal, we ordered desserts to celebrate. Queenie’s dessert included vanilla ice cream. I sat across the table and watched as she thoroughly enjoyed it! Praise God for his faithfulness to his promises!

Old Testament Examples of the Spiritual Law of Agreement in Scripture

EXAMPLE #1 Num 21:8-9 MSG GOD said to Moses, "Make a snake and put it on a flagpole: Whoever is bitten and looks at it will live." (9) So Moses made a snake of fiery copper and put it on top of a flagpole. Anyone bitten by a snake who then looked at the copper snake lived.

Joshua 3:5-13 KJV And Joshua said unto the people, Sanctify yourselves: for to morrow the LORD will do wonders among you. (6) And Joshua spake unto the priests, saying, Take up the ark of the covenant, and pass over before the people. And they took up the ark of the covenant, and went before the people. (7) And the LORD said unto Joshua, This day will I begin to magnify thee in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that, as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee. (8) And thou shalt command the priests that bear the ark of the covenant, saying, When ye are come to the brink of the water of Jordan, ye shall stand still in Jordan. (10) And Joshua said, Hereby ye shall know that the living God is among you (11) Behold, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth passeth over before you into Jordan. (12) Now therefore take you twelve men out of the tribes of Israel, out of every tribe a man. (13) And it shall come to pass, as soon as the soles of the feet of the priests that bear the ark of the LORD, the Lord of all the earth, shall rest in the waters of Jordan, that the waters of Jordan shall be cut off from the waters that come down from above; and they shall stand upon an heap. Jos 4:7 MSG you'll say, 'The flow of the Jordan was stopped in front of the Chest of the Covenant of GOD as it crossed the Jordan--stopped in its tracks. These stones are a permanent memorial for the People of Israel.'"

EXAMPLE #3Jos 6:2-16 KJV And the LORD said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valour. (3) And ye shall go round about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days. (4) And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven trumpets of rams' horns: and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the trumpets. (5) And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long blast with the ram's horn, and when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall ascend up every man straight before him. (10) And Joshua had commanded the people, saying, Ye shall not shout, nor make any noise with your voice, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth, until the day I bid you shout; then shall ye shout. (11) So the ark of the LORD compassed the city, going about it once: and they came into the camp, and lodged in the camp. (14) And the second day they compassed the city once, and returned into the camp: so they did six days. (15) And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they rose early about the dawning of the day, and compassed the city after the same manner seven times: only on that day they compassed the city seven times. (16) And it came to pass at the seventh time, when the priests blew with the trumpets, Joshua said unto the people, Shout; for the LORD hath given you the city. (20) So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.

EXAMPLE #41Sa 17:26-37 KJV And David spake to the men that stood by him, saying, What shall be done to the man that killeth this Philistine, and taketh away the reproach from Israel? for who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God? (28) And Eliab his eldest brother heard when he spake unto the men; and Eliab's anger was kindled against David,

and he said, I know thy pride, and the naughtiness of thine heart; for thou art come down that thou mightest see the battle. (29) And David said, What have I now done? Is there not a cause? (30) And he turned from him toward another, and spake after the same manner: and the people answered him again after the former manner. (31) And when the words were heard which David spake, they rehearsed them before Saul: and he sent for him . (32) And David said to Saul, Let no man's heart fail because of him; thy servant will go and fight with this Philistine. (33) And Saul said to David, Thou art not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him: for thou art but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth. (34) And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father's sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock: (35) And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him. (36) Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God. (37) David said moreover, The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the LORD be with thee.

EXAMPLE #51Ki 17:8-16 MSG Then GOD spoke to him: (9) "Get up and go to Zarephath in Sidon and live there. I've instructed a woman who lives there, a widow, to feed you." (10) So he got up and went to Zarephath. As he came to the entrance of the village he met a woman, a widow, gathering firewood. He asked her, "Please, would you bring me a little water in a jug? I need a drink." (11) As she went to get it, he called out, "And while you're at it, would you bring me something to eat?" (12) She said, "I swear, as surely as your GOD lives, I don't have so much as a biscuit. I have a handful of flour in a jar and a little oil in a bottle; you found me scratching together just enough firewood to make a last meal for my son and me. After we eat it, we'll die." (13) Elijah said to her, "Don't worry about a thing. Go ahead and do what you've said. But first make a small biscuit for me and bring it back here. Then go ahead and make a meal from what's left for you and your son. (14) This is the word of the GOD of Israel: 'The jar of flour will not run out and the bottle of oil will not become empty before GOD sends rain on the land and ends this drought.'" (15) And she went right off and did it, did just as Elijah asked. And it turned out as he said--daily food for her and her family. (16) The jar of meal didn't run out and the bottle of oil didn't become empty: GOD's promise fulfilled to the letter, exactly as Elijah had delivered it!

EXAMPLE #61Ki 17:17-24 MSG Later on the woman's son became sick. The sickness took a turn for the worse--and then he stopped breathing. (18) The woman said to Elijah, "Why did you ever show up here in the first place--a holy man barging in, exposing my sins, and killing my son?" (19) Elijah said, "Hand me your son." He then took him from her bosom, carried him up to the loft where he was staying, and laid him on his bed. (21) Three times he stretched himself out full-length on the boy, praying with all his might, "GOD, my God, put breath back into this boy's body!" (22) GOD listened to Elijah's prayer and put breath back into his body--he was alive! (23) Elijah picked the boy up, carried him downstairs from the loft, and gave him to his mother.

"Here's your son," said Elijah, "alive!" (24) The woman said to Elijah, "I see it all now--you are a holy man. When you speak, GOD speaks--a true word!"

EXAMPLE #71Ki 18:41-45 MSG Elijah said to Ahab, "Up on your feet! Eat and drink--celebrate! Rain is on the way; I hear it coming." (42) Ahab did it: got up and ate and drank. Meanwhile, Elijah climbed to the top of Carmel, bowed deeply in prayer, his face between his knees. (43) Then he said to his young servant, "On your feet now! Look toward the sea." He went, looked, and reported back, "I don't see a thing." "Keep looking," said Elijah, "seven times if necessary." (44) And sure enough, the seventh time he said, "Oh yes, a cloud! But very small, no bigger than someone's hand, rising out of the sea." "Quickly then, on your way. Tell Ahab, 'Saddle up and get down from the mountain before the rain stops you.'" (45) Things happened fast. The sky grew black with wind-driven clouds, and then a huge cloudburst of rain, with Ahab hightailing it in his chariot for Jezreel.

EXAMPLE #8 2Ki 2:6-14 MSG Then Elijah said to Elisha, "Stay here. GOD has sent me on an errand to the Jordan." Elisha said, "Not on your life! I'm not letting you out of my sight!" And so the two of them went their way together. (7) Meanwhile, fifty men from the guild of prophets gathered some distance away while the two of them stood at the Jordan. (8) Elijah took his cloak, rolled it up, and hit the water with it. The river divided and the two men walked through on dry land. (9) When they reached the other side, Elijah said to Elisha, "What can I do for you before I'm taken from you? Ask anything." Elisha said, "Your life repeated in my life. I want to be a holy man just like you." (10) "That's a hard one!" said Elijah. "But if you're watching when I'm taken from you, you'll get what you've asked for. But only if you're watching." (11) And so it happened. They were walking along and talking. Suddenly a chariot and horses of fire came between them and Elijah went up in a whirlwind to heaven. (12) Elisha saw it all and shouted, "My father, my father! You--the chariot and cavalry of Israel!" When he could no longer see anything, he grabbed his robe and ripped it to pieces. (13) Then he picked up Elijah's cloak that had fallen from him, returned to the shore of the Jordan, and stood there. (14) He took Elijah's cloak--all that was left of Elijah!--and hit the river with it, saying, "Now where is the GOD of Elijah? Where is he?" When he struck the water, the river divided and Elisha walked through.

EXAMPLE #92Ki 2:19-22 MSG One day the men of the city said to Elisha, "You can see for yourself, master, how well our city is located. But the water is polluted and nothing grows." (20) He said, "Bring me a brand-new bowl and put some salt in it." They brought it to him. (21) He then went to the spring, sprinkled the salt into it, and proclaimed, "GOD's word: I've healed this water. It will no longer kill you or poison your land." (22) And sure enough, the water was healed--and remains so to this day, just as Elisha said.

EXAMPLE #102Ki 3:14-20 MSG Elisha said, "As GOD-of-the-Angel-Armies lives, and before whom I stand ready to serve, if it weren't for the respect I have for Jehoshaphat king of Judah, I wouldn't give

you the time of day. (15) But considering--bring me a minstrel." (When a minstrel played, the power of GOD came on Elisha.) (16) He then said, "GOD's word: Dig ditches all over this valley. (17) Here's what will happen--you won't hear the wind, you won't see the rain, but this valley is going to fill up with water and your army and your animals will drink their fill. (18) This is easy for GOD to do; he will also hand over Moab to you. (19) You will ravage the country: Knock out its fortifications, level the key villages, clear-cut the orchards, clog the springs, and litter the cultivated fields with stones." (20) In the morning--it was at the hour of morning sacrifice--the water had arrived, water pouring in from the west, from Edom, a flash-flood filling the valley with water.

EXAMPLE #112Ki 4:1-7 MSG One day the wife of a man from the guild of prophets called out to Elisha, "Your servant my husband is dead. You well know what a good man he was, devoted to GOD. And now the man to whom he was in debt is on his way to collect by taking my two children as slaves." (2) Elisha said, "I wonder how I can be of help. Tell me, what do you have in your house?" "Nothing," she said. "Well, I do have a little oil." (3) "Here's what you do," said Elisha. "Go up and down the street and borrow jugs and bowls from all your neighbors. And not just a few--all you can get. (4) Then come home and lock the door behind you, you and your sons. Pour oil into each container; when each is full, set it aside." (5) She did what he said. She locked the door behind her and her sons; as they brought the containers to her, she filled them. (6) When all the jugs and bowls were full, she said to one of her sons, "Another jug, please." He said, "That's it. There are no more jugs." Then the oil stopped. (7) She went and told the story to the man of God. He said, "Go sell the oil and make good on your debts. Live, both you and your sons, on what's left."

EXAMPLE #122Ki 4:16-35 KJV And he said, About this season, according to the time of life, thou shalt embrace a son. And she said, Nay, my lord, thou man of God, do not lie unto thine handmaid. (17) And the woman conceived, and bare a son at that season that Elisha had said unto her, according to the time of life. (18) And when the child was grown, it fell on a day, that he went out to his father to the reapers. (19) And he said unto his father, My head, my head. And he said to a lad, Carry him to his mother. (20) And when he had taken him, and brought him to his mother, he sat on her knees till noon, and then died . (21) And she went up, and laid him on the bed of the man of God, and shut the door upon him, and went out. (22) And she called unto her husband, and said, Send me, I pray thee, one of the young men, and one of the asses, that I may run to the man of God, and come again. (23) And he said, Wherefore wilt thou go to him to day? it is neither new moon, nor sabbath. And she said, It shall be well . (24) Then she saddled an ass, and said to her servant, Drive, and go forward; slack not thy riding for me, except I bid thee. (25) So she went and came unto the man of God to mount Carmel. And it came to pass, when the man of God saw her afar off, that he said to Gehazi his servant, Behold, yonder is that Shunammite: (26) Run now, I pray thee, to meet her, and say unto her, Is it well with thee? is it well with thy husband? is it well with the child ? And she answered, It is well . (27) And when she came to the man of God to the hill, she caught him by the feet: but Gehazi came near to thrust her away. And the man of God said, Let her alone; for her soul is vexed

within her: and the LORD hath hid it from me, and hath not told me. (28) Then she said, Did I desire a son of my lord? did I not say, Do not deceive me? (29) Then he said to Gehazi, Gird up thy loins, and take my staff in thine hand, and go thy way: if thou meet any man, salute him not; and if any salute thee, answer him not again: and lay my staff upon the face of the child. (30) And the mother of the child said, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. And he arose, and followed her. (31) And Gehazi passed on before them, and laid the staff upon the face of the child; but there was neither voice, nor hearing. Wherefore he went again to meet him, and told him, saying, The child is not awaked. (32) And when Elisha was come into the house, behold, the child was dead, and laid upon his bed. (33) He went in therefore, and shut the door upon them twain, and prayed unto the LORD. (34) And he went up, and lay upon the child, and put his mouth upon his mouth, and his eyes upon his eyes, and his hands upon his hands: and he stretched himself upon the child; and the flesh of the child waxed warm. (35) Then he returned, and walked in the house to and fro; and went up, and stretched himself upon him: and the child sneezed seven times, and the child opened his eyes.

EXAMPLE #132Ki 4:38-41 KJV And Elisha came again to Gilgal: and there was a dearth in the land; and the sons of the prophets were sitting before him: and he said unto his servant, Set on the great pot, and seethe pottage for the sons of the prophets. (39) And one went out into the field to gather herbs, and found a wild vine, and gathered thereof wild gourds his lap full, and came and shred them into the pot of pottage: for they knew them not. (40) So they poured out for the men to eat. And it came to pass, as they were eating of the pottage, that they cried out, and said, O thou man of God, there is death in the pot . And they could not eat thereof. (41) But he said, Then bring meal. And he cast it into the pot; and he said, Pour out for the people, that they may eat. And there was no harm in the pot.

EXAMPLE #142Ki 4:42-44 KJV And there came a man from Baalshalisha, and brought the man of God bread of the firstfruits, twenty loaves of barley, and full ears of corn in the husk thereof. And he said, Give unto the people, that they may eat. (43) And his servitor said, What, should I set this before an hundred men? He said again, Give the people, that they may eat: for thus saith the LORD, They shall eat, and shall leave thereof . (44) So he set it before them, and they did eat, and left thereof , according to the word of the LORD .

EXAMPLE #152Ki 5:1-14 KJV Now Naaman, captain of the host of the king of Syria, was a great man with his master, and honourable, because by him the LORD had given deliverance unto Syria: he was also a mighty man in valour, but he was a leper. (2) And the Syrians had gone out by companies, and had brought away captive out of the land of Israel a little maid; and she waited on Naaman's wife. (3) And she said unto her mistress, Would God my lord were with the prophet that is in Samaria! for he would recover him of his leprosy. (4) And one went in, and told his lord, saying, Thus and thus said the maid that is of the land of Israel. (5) And the king of Syria said, Go to, go, and I will send a letter unto the king of Israel. And he departed, and took with him ten talents of silver, and six thousand pieces of gold, and ten changes of raiment. (6)

And he brought the letter to the king of Israel, saying, Now when this letter is come unto thee, behold, I have therewith sent Naaman my servant to thee, that thou mayest recover him of his leprosy. (7) And it came to pass, when the king of Israel had read the letter, that he rent his clothes, and said, Am I God, to kill and to make alive, that this man doth send unto me to recover a man of his leprosy? wherefore consider, I pray you, and see how he seeketh a quarrel against me. (8) And it was so, when Elisha the man of God had heard that the king of Israel had rent his clothes, that he sent to the king, saying, Wherefore hast thou rent thy clothes? let him come now to me, and he shall know that there is a prophet in Israel. (9) So Naaman came with his horses and with his chariot, and stood at the door of the house of Elisha. (10) And Elisha sent a messenger unto him, saying, Go and wash in Jordan seven times, and thy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean. (11) But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper. (12) Are not Abana and Pharpar, rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? may I not wash in them, and be clean? So he turned and went away in a rage. (13) And his servants came near, and spake unto him, and said, My father, if the prophet had bid thee do some great thing, wouldest thou not have done it? how much rather then, when he saith to thee, Wash, and be clean? (14) Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.

EXAMPLE #162Ki 5:1-14 KJV Now Naaman, captain of the host of the king of Syria, was… a leper. (2) And the Syrians had gone out by companies, and had brought away captive out of the land of Israel a little maid; and she waited on Naaman's wife. (3) And she said unto her mistress, Would God my lord were with the prophet that is in Samaria! for he would recover him of his leprosy . (5) And the king of Syria said, Go to, go, and I will send a letter unto the king of Israel. And he departed, and took with him ten talents of silver, and six thousand pieces of gold, and ten changes of raiment. (6) And he brought the letter to the king of Israel, saying, Now when this letter is come unto thee, behold, I have therewith sent Naaman my servant to thee, that thou mayest recover him of his leprosy. (13) And his servants came near, and spake unto him, and said, My father, if the prophet had bid thee do some great thing, wouldest thou not have done it ? how much rather then, when he saith to thee, Wash, and be

clean? (14) Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.

EXAMPLE #172Ki 20:1-7 KJV In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live. (2) Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto the LORD, saying, (3) I beseech thee, O LORD, remember now how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore. (4) And it came to pass, afore Isaiah was gone out into the middle court, that the word of the LORD came to him, saying, (5) Turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the LORD. (6) And I will add unto thy days fifteen years; and I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake. (7) And Isaiah said, Take a lump of figs. And they took and laid it on the boil, and he recovered .

New Testament Examples of the Law of Agreement

Isaiah 11:1-3 KJV “And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: (2) And the spirit [anointing] of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit

[anointing] of wisdom and understanding, the spirit [anointing] of counsel and might, the spirit [anointing] of knowledge of the fear of the Lord; (3) And [these special anointings] shall make him quick of understanding in the fear of the Lord: and he shall not judge after the sight of his

eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears.”

Matthew 16:17, 19 KJV “And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar- Jonah: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. (19)

And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shall bind on earth shall be

bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”

Jesus functioned in his ministry in the earth in what Isaiah termed, “a special anointing of counsel and might.” This special anointing is described as an anointing to “give counsel or instructions which produce great works of supernatural power.”

Of course, this anointing comes from the Father God in heaven, and was given to Jesus by the Holy Spirit. Jesus, however, saw this same anointing in the Old Testament examples, and this was the “special anointing” that Elisha was asking from Elijah just before he received a “double

portion” of it from God through the ministry of Elijah.

Acts 10:38 KJV “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with Power who went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil.”

Connecting the above scriptures, we see that Jesus revealed to Peter that the same “spirit” that revealed to him that Jesus was the Christ (Messiah), would also be given to him (symbolically expressed as “the keys of the kingdom of heaven”), thus he would have the same “anointing of counsel and might,” not relying on the “sight of his eyes or hearing of his ears,” but upon the Holy Spirit, even as Jesus did as he produced the spirit of counsel and might, or gave words of instructions which, when carried out, produced great works of God’s supernatural power.

EXAMPLE #1John 2:1-11 “The next day there was a wedding celebration in the village of Cana in Galilee. Jesus' mother was there, (2) and Jesus and His disciples were also invited to the celebration. (3) The wine supply ran out during the festivities, so Jesus' mother told Him, "They have no more wine." (4) "Dear woman, that's not our problem," Jesus replied. "My time has not yet come." (5) But His mother told the servants, "Do whatever He tells you." (6) Standing nearby were six stone water jars, used for Jewish ceremonial washing. Each could hold twenty to thirty gallons. (7) Jesus told the servants, "Fill the jars with water." When the jars had been filled, (8) He said, "Now dip some out, and take it to the master of ceremonies." So the servants followed His instructions. (9) When the master of ceremonies tasted the water that was now wine, not knowing where it had come from (though, of course, the servants knew), he called the bridegroom over. (10) "A host always serves the best wine first," he said. "Then, when everyone has had a lot to drink, he brings out the less expensive wine. But you have kept the best until now!" (11) This miraculous sign at Cana in Galilee was the first time Jesus revealed His glory. And His disciples believed in Him.”

Example #2John 9:1-7 “Walking down the street, Jesus saw a man blind from birth. (2) His disciples asked, "Rabbi, who sinned: this man or his parents, causing him to be born blind?" (3) Jesus said, "You're asking the wrong question. You're looking for someone to blame. There is no such cause-effect here. Look instead for what God can do. (4) We need to be energetically at work for the One who sent me here, working while the sun shines. When night falls, the workday is over. (5) For as long as I am in the world, there is plenty of light. I am the world's Light." (6) He said this and then spit in the dust, made a clay paste with the saliva, rubbed the paste on the blind man's eyes, (7) and said, "Go, wash at the Pool of Siloam" (Siloam means "Sent"). The man went and washed--and saw.”

Example #3John 11:38-44 “Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it. (39) Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days. (40) Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe [be persuaded to

obey and act], thou shouldest see the glory of God? (41) Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. (42) And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me. (43) And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. (44) And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.”

Example #4Matthew 17:27 “But so we don't upset them needlessly, go down to the lake, cast a hook, and pull in the first fish that bites. Open its mouth and you'll find a coin. Take it and give it to the tax men. It will be enough for both of us."

Example #5Mark 6:37-43 “He answered and said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they say unto him, Shall we go and buy two hundred pennyworth of bread, and give them to eat? (38) He saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? go and see. And when they knew, they say, Five, and two fishes. (39) And he commanded them to make all sit down by companies upon the green grass. (40) And they sat down in ranks, by hundreds, and by fifties. (41) And when he had taken the five loaves and the two fishes, he looked up to heaven, and blessed, and brake the loaves, and gave them to his disciples to set before them ; and the two fishes divided he among them all. (42) And they did all eat, and were filled. (43) And they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments, and of the fishes.”
