7th GradeWe are in exponent craziness right now! Thischapter is one of the hardest ones in the book as those exponents can be tricky! Positive exponents and negative exponents...lots to flip around! :) We will do tons ofpractice with these concepts before we take an official quiz or test and I will be pushing them beyond the book for sure! Project information is coming next week as well, so be on the lookout for that!

8th GradeReally, the same thing goes for next week...

Geometry is "taking shape" and students are doing a great job with notes. They will use these for reference NOW and LATER when they are in high school. Some students are struggling a bit with geometry, as this is truly a new mindset. Others are really loving the change of pace and focus. Not a lot of homework will be seen during this last quarter, so please encourage your child to come by and see me if they are confused about topics covered. This will only help them for next year.

DC Projects are coming on Monday!

Science in the NewsDid you knowthat Earth Day originated on April 22, 1970 as the result of an idea by Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson. Some interesting facts to ponder: The average person generates over 4 pounds of trash every day and about 1.5 tons of solid waste every year! Americans throw away 25,000,000 plastic bottles every hour! Recycling 100 aluminum cans can light an average-size bedroom for two weeks.

Specifically speaking6th Grade We finished our unit on Ch. 17 this week and will be taking a test next Wednesday on this. Study guides were distributed Wednesday and time was given to work on these in class yesterday and today. We will then have a formal review in class on Tuesday before Wednesdays test.

7th Grade`We began our unit on the Linnaean classification system of living things, the 7 levels of classification, and the major kingdoms used in this system. We will finish this unit possibly by the end of next week with a test the following week. 8th Grade We finished our unit on solutions, acids, and basis this week and will be testing next Thursday over this unit. We conducted a lab also this week where we tested various household compounds to determine the acidity or alkalinity of each.
