The gathering was addressed by Shri Venkaiah Naidu, Union Minister for Urban Development, Housing and Urban Poverty. He said that, “Smart cities should be all inclusive and affordable at the same time.” Pushing for PPP model in smart cities, the Union Minister invited private participation, while assuring that the government would provide viable funding wherever required. Mr Mogens Jensen, Denmark Minister of Trade and Investment highlighted how Gujarat could save up to USD 700 million annually through correct policies and measures relating to smart cities. Experts and Policy makers discuss Water Security,Climate Change and Sustainable Development

Gandhinagar: Addressing the ongoing global debate on ‘Sustainable Development,’ intertwined with the concerns around climate change and water security, Department of Water Supply of Gujarat organized a seminar during Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, bringing together policy makers, experts and investors to deliberate of the subjects. Shri Vijay Rupani, Minister for Water Supply, of the state government welcomed all the delegates. Dr. Rajendra Pachauri, Chairman, IPCC, and Director General TERI, Mr. Mogens Jensen, Denmark Minister for Trade and Development Cooperation and Shri. Prakash Javadekar, Minister for Environment, Forests & Climate Change, Government of India were the eminent speakers. Union Minister Prakash Javadekar announced the launch of ‘Jal Saksharta Abhiyan’ (Water Literacy Programme) to ensure awareness of water security among masses. He said, “Pilot project 2015 cleaning Ganga will also take care of cleaning all other rivers in the country. It is our mission to ensure water security by 2025, he emphasized. In his address, Dr. Pachauri talked about changes in the global water cycles, the warming of the oceans and their acidification as a result of 30% of the carbon dioxide emitted since the beginning of industrialization. Mr. Jensen stressed that India is projected to be reaching a ‘water stressed’ situation and will face the largest urban expansion in next fifty years with far reaching consequences. Prof. Benedito Braga, President, World Water Council, Sao-Paolo, Brazil; Dr. peter Brabeck – Letmathe, Chairman, Nestle, Switzerland and Dr. Bindu Lohani, Vice President, ADB, Manila and other experts in the sector addressed the distinguished gathering. 9 MoUs were signed during the seminar. Preventive Health care services need of the hourGujarat ready to adopt new policies

to ensure ‘Health for All’Gandhinagar: Government of Gujarat organized a special seminar on “Health for ALL: Leveraging Technology, Innovations & Enablers” on the second day of Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, 2015. The Partner organizations of the event were World Health Organizations, United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF), John Hopkins University (Bloomberg School of Public Health) and Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. Healthcare has always been the backbone of the society, and consequently an aid to its growth and development. As we move towards a future with increasing population and rising healthcare costs, technology must play a central role for healthcare reforms to contain costs, improve access and save lives. The seminar provided a platform for experts, industry leaders and policy makers to deliberate on leveraging technology, innovation and enablers for making healthcare services available and affordable for all. The discussions shed light on the persisting issues in healthcare sector and showed a way forward to achieve universal healthcare. The seminar touched upon some very pertinent topics, including new-born care, specialized care and use of mobile telephony for making healthcare services accessible to all. With increasing accessibility of mobile phones, Health services must be leveraged to expand the horizons of healthcare services. Latest technologies and trends in pharmaceutical industry were also discussed in the seminar. It was emphasized that taking healthcare services to each and every citizen is of utmost importance in this era.Dr Nata Menabde, WHO Representative in India said, “Health is not only about treating sick people but also about making people healthy, so that they can lead a happy life. There is a need for preventive health services”Shri Nitin Patel, Minister of Health, Government of Gujarat, highlighted, “Gujarat received an award from UNICEF for our Pulse polio mission which was implemented from 1995. We have not registered any new case after 2007.”The seminar was attended by more than 500 Healthcare Professionals across the Country. Government of Gujarat launches the Gujarat State Innovation Portal

India to focus of Innovations businesses which offer cost-effective and efficient solutions

Gandhinagar: Innovations are drivers of development and growth. With their cutting-edge role in enhancing productivity, boosting growth, increasing efficiency and creating new economic opportunities, the culture of innovation as well as innovative mindset promises to offer cost-effective and efficient solutions to the society. The State Government is committed to establish institutional mechanism to encourage innovation, characterized by scientific temper and a spirit of inquiry and reform. Government of Gujarat organized a seminar on the theme “Innovation: The Torchbearer of 21st Century.”Gujarat has been one of the pioneering States in spearheading innovative projects and models in fields as diverse as science and technology, agriculture and animal husbandry, trade and industry, education and health to name a few sectors.Chief Minister of Gujarat, Smt Anandiben Patel graced the event and launched the Gujarat State Innovation Portal set up by Gujarat State Innovation Council, and the Center on Intellectual Property Rights constituted at GNLU, Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Signing of several investment intentions took place across 3 sectors namely Higher & Technical Education, Information Technology and Biotechnology for strategic partnerships and collaborations aimed at boosting innovation, research and development, and funding innovations for bringing ideas to reality. MOUs were signed in sector of Biotechnology and Information Technology by Department of Science and Technology, etc. Shri Y. S. Chowdary, Minister for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences, Govt of India and Shri Govindbhai Patel, Minister for Energy and Petrochemicals, Science and Technology, Government of Gujarat inaugurated the event and gave special address. Mishra, Additional Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, Mr. Mogens Jensen Minister for Trade and Development Cooperation, Denmark, Ms. Hannele Holtinnen, Principal Scientist & Research Coordinator, International Energy Agency, Sir David Anthony King, Emeritus Professor in Physical Chemistry, University of Cambridge and Mr. Vicente Guallart, Chief Architect, Barcelona City Council were the eminent speakers at the seminar. They shared their experiences and vision on the need to utilize every possible source of energy in a sustainable, cost effective and environment friendly manner. Dr. Yumkella stressed on the need for sustainable development, which is impossible without sustainable energy. Access to modern energy services is fundamental to human development and is an investment in the collective future. He said, “We have come here to take lessons from India back to Africa. We want to work harder towards solar collision and/or renewable energy collision. It is important to lower the cost of energy storage. There is a need to democratize energy.”Mr. Piyush Goyal, in his keynote address, focused on how energy sector represents a basket of opportunities for socio-economic development for booming economies like India. He stressed on the need of identifying the gap between availability of resources and lack of access to energy and complimented progressive Indian states such as Gujarat for promoting development through multiple renewable energy and energy efficiency measures. He said, “By 2019 GoI will work to get two trillion energy which will help us fulfill PM’s vision to supply 24*7 energy to all households and for agriculture & commercial purposes. We need a large investment to the tune of 250 Billion dollars for this. GoI is seriously working to take up the sustainable energy agenda.””Two theme-based sessions followed the inaugural session, on “Leveraging Frontier Technologies to Scale up Integration of Renewable Energy” and “Sustainability through Energy Efficiency”. The first session was moderated by Dr. P.K. Mishra. The speakers discussed the technical, commercial and regulatory challenges that emerge when

integrating renewables into power systems. They analyzed its implications in terms of operations, planning, costs and policy making. How advancements in storage technologies could help complement solar generation to reduce overall generation costs and increase the quality of power supply was also discussed. “Sustainability through Energy Efficiency had extensive discussion on Barcelona city’s experience of improving end-use energy efficiency. Further, discussions on current state of technological advances in energy efficient lighting, and an innovative experiment in demand-side management and energy efficiency in agriculture carried out in North Gujarat were done. The seminar had participation of more than 350 experts and delegates from across India and the world.4 MOUs have signed during the seminar. A few key MoUs were:• CLP India Pvt. Gandhinagar: A Seminar on ‘SME Convention: Gearing up for Global Competitiveness’, organized by Government of Gujarat as a part of Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar, shed lights on the opportunities for SMEs of Gujarat and India. The convention was inaugurated by Chief Minister of Gujarat – Smt. Anandiben Patel. Shri Kalraj Mishra, Union Minister of MSME was the Guest of Honour. Shri Giriraj Singh. Minister of State, MSME, GoI and Gujarat Finance Minister, Shri Saurabhbhai Patel were special dignitariesThe Convention, which had over 5000 participants, was attended by SMEs, new and emerging entrepreneurs, representatives from the trade organizations, Industrial Associations, Chambers of Commerce and Industry and other business organizations. Mr. Kalraj Mishra stressed, “Most of the big companies started their journey as small enterprises. We should acknowledge that many developed countries depend on their SMEs. ”Chief Minister Anandiben highlighted, “SMEs sector has been playing pivotal role in poverty alleviation and employment generation in Gujarat. Thus my government would ensure efforts to promote this sector. There is a need to provide common branding and marketing platform for small and medium industries. Our government is planning to come up with quality upgradation schemes for the MSME sector. The sector would help realize PM’s dream of ‘Make in India’, he further added. A galaxy of expert International speakers from the Asian Development Bank, United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and International Network for SME (INSME) were demonstrated opportunities for SMEs at global level as well as in the Indian context. The well attended convention was a great opportunity for all SMEs and emerging entrepreneurs to understand how to explore and imbibe new technology, innovation in production of quality products, and how SMEs can be globally competitive. The International speakers gave in depth knowledge on major areas such as SME Competitiveness- Access to Finance, Participation of SMEs

in Global Value Chain and on Technology transfer vs SMEs – the challenge within Global Environment. There was special session to showcase nine case studies of leading companies in SMEs sector from Gujarat. A short film was also showcased on the journey of each entrepreneur and was shown during the convention. For this Mrs. Patel also gave assurance for cooperation by Government of Gujarat. Mr. Alexander and Mrs. Patel also discussed about to expand bilateral relationship between Astrakhan and Gujarat. The Astrakhan Governor congratulated Mrs. Patel for the success of Vibrant Gujarat Series and also thanked her for hospitality from Gujarat.

He briefed Mrs. Patel about the possibilities about warehouses and zero-taxes zone in Astrakhan, along with that presently Astrakhan is working for Pharmaceuticals and Tourism sectors in Gujarat. As many as 20 Lakh tourists visiting Astrakhan, in this regard they have a plan to arrange two tour operators in Gujarat to encourage the tourism.

14 Countries organise country seminars at Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, 2015

Gandhinagar: With eight partner countries and over 120 countries participating, Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2015 turned out to be a truly global forum for networking and knowledge sharing.On the first day, Australia, Canada, Denmark, Japan, Netherlands, Singapore, Sweden, United Kingdom and United States organized Seminars to pitch for trade & industries and showcase opportunities for business. The Norway Envoy congratulated Mrs. Patel over the successful planning of Vibrant Summit as the first woman Chief Minister of Gujarat.

During this meeting, Mrs. Patel was informed by them that the great company of Norway-UNINOR which is providing their services for cheaper rates in India and will provide their 2G services, specifically in rural areas within nearer future. The delegation also informed Mrs. Patel that the Compact company which is producing Specialized Food Paste in India to prevent malnutrition in children. They gave positive response to Mrs. Patel about her suggestion to start a pilot project under CSR norms in a taluka of Gujarat.

The delegation also provided the details about the notable partnership of Norway in several sectors in India such as external coating in pipeline works and about their partnership with L&T, Adani Ports for work in pipeline / infrastructure / gas / energy sectors. They also informed about 50% women empowerment in their cabinet as their present woman Prime Minister.

In this regard Mrs. Patel briefed them about 33% women reservation, financial assistance to women for preparation for higher competitive exams and new initiation regarding gender budget, the delegation impressed with hearing this words from Mrs. Patel.

Gandhinagar, Monday: India’s Finance Minister Mr. Arun Jaitley today asserted the government’s resolve to take fast decisions to ensure fast implementation of a slew of projects being undertaken for fast growth of the country.

Speaking as the chief guest at the seminar on ‘Financing for Future Growth’ on the second day of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit-2015 held here in presence of Gujarat Chief Minister Mrs. Anandiben Patel, Mr. Jaitley said the initiatives taken so far has attracted a number of countries from across the world converging at the VGS-2015 pledging investment.

The Union Minister said the government decision to build 100 smart cities will create a new identity of India in the world. He said that Chandigarh is the first smart city, besides Gujarat’s capital city of Gandhinagar, the New Raipur and Noida in the National Capital Region (NCR) being the other ones.

Gujarat’s Finance Minister Mr. Saurabh Patel said that the GIFT City project undertaken by Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi as the then Chief Minister of the State few years back would make Gujarat as the Financial Hub of India with GIFT City promising a bright future of the country. Gujarat is also progressing fast on cotton and textiles sector. He said the Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR) would set new benchmark in the lexicon of development.

The Chief Economic Advisor to the Ministry of Finance Dr Arvind Subramaniam said that Government of India has implemented several projects in the Agriculture,

Industry and Service sectors. He said that Gujarat is not only a model state for foreign investors but also has magnetic effect. He wished other states emulate Gujarat.

Union Financial Services Secretary Mr. Hasmukh Adhia gave a glimpse of India’s present economic scenario and future planning.

On this occasion, 12 MoUs concerning financial sector were signed. They included Master Card Asia Pacific, ICICI Bank, Bombay Stock Exchange, Dr. KR Shah DK Shah Charitable Trust of Kheda, Sri Padmavati Online Servies Pvt Ltd of Ahmedabad, Bhaishri Rameshbhai Oza Shaikshanik Sanstha of Ahmedabad, PP Savani, Knowledge City, Mansi Surat, National Stock Exchange of India-Mumbai, Rai Foundation of Mathura Road-Delhi, Parul Group of Industries of Vadodara, State Bank of India and NABARD.

Others present on the occasion included Gujarat’s Minister of State for Law Mr. Pradeepsinh Jadeja, Minister of State for Agriculture Mr. Jasabhai Barad, senior officers of Finance Department, and representatives of various companies.

The seminar concluded with question-answer session concerning Centre-State issues replied by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitly. Confederation of Indian Industries Director General Mr. Chandrajit Banerji proposed a vote of thanks.

Mrs. Patel assured logistic support in the Gujarat to the Ugra province which holds 90 percent stake in Russian economy and gas & oil sectors. The governor also highlighted tie-ups with GSPC and Bharat Petroleum with Ugra province and MOUs were signing during Vibrant Summit.Vice governor of Altai province of Russia talked about innovations in herbal pharmaceuticals and food supplements during the meeting with the CM. Companies from Altai province are already doing business in Gujarat and now they are eager to invest more in the state after Vibrant Gujarat Summit. Mrs. Patel said that the employment generation would happen through these small-medium industries and then the big work like poverty eradication could happen. Therefore it is the aim for the State Government to emphasis on this sector.

Mrs. Patel also briefed about to develop skilled men-power creation and skill development sector as well, along with the development of global business and industrial streams, the small-medium industries can also step in modern changing times.

She said that through the extensive growth of investment and various opportunities, the multiple progresses of small and medium sized industries of Gujarat would be happen through the encouraging policies of the State Government, state of the art infrastructure, strategic places, workaholic people-partnership and skilled men-power and stable and pro-active governance etc. Not only that, through the success of the 6 successful editions, Gujarat has proved its capacity to the nation and the world as well that now Gujarat is becoming the kind of selective place, that not only encourage the profession-industries-businesses, but also giving positive welcome.

In comparison to the giant industries, the micro, small and medium industries along with providing employment opportunities, it expedites the industrialization in rural and developing areas as well and as a result of it decreases the regional inequality and assures similar distribution of the national income and property, Mrs. Patel added.

Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit-2015 – Day2France's Europe India Fondation to establish 'Center For Excellence' for skill

development in Gujarat

*******France based Europe India Foundation will set up a Centre for Excellence for skill development in Gujarat. Europe India Foundation and some more institutions are eager to develop Gujarat as a hub of their work-culture and with that purpose they are supposed to sign a MOU with PDPU.

Chief Minister Smt. Anandiben Patel held a meeting with this France delegation and made fruitful deleberation. Members of the delegation held consultation on scope of investment-support in various field especially skill training, tourism, foodpark and ayurveda.

The delegation has also shown keen interest in providing training sessions to gujarati students in France-Europe as a part of short-term courses in the field of vegetable canning and export sector.

Speaking at ‘Afghanistan Country Seminar’ on the second day of Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit-2015 at Mahatma Mandir here, Mr. Abdali said that his country is keen for far better relations with Gujarat in the field of banking, textiles, petroleum, handloom, agriculture and telecommunication.

The envoy spoke at length about Afghanistan and extended special invitation to the people from India to partner in his country’s development.
