MISSIONS REPORT Just a reminder – to make your 2016 missions faith pledge. If you need a form, I have some. These pledges support foreign missions and organizations that bring Christ to the world. Just put your completed form in the offering plate. The final count of baby hats knitted is 492. Thank you to all who knitted them. Let’s aim for 493 next year. Let me tell you a bit about the sandwiches that are made for St. Columba. The women of the circles have been making then for a long time. The need for them increases yearly. You do not have to be a circle member to make them. If you have ever made yourself a sandwich, you can do this. I have instruction sheets to guide you. Come on men, show your sandwich making talents! Since September 2015 until last Friday Calvin has supplied nearly 800 sandwiche to St. Columba. Thank you to all who have made them and to those of you who will make them. Friday I went with Suzi Williams to deliver 112 sandwiches and the clothing collected. Now, to the friendly competition. The women’s bin was fuller. Though I did not separate the items, it seemed there were more men’s items. Since I did not count, the clothing was weighed. About 35 pounds of clothing was collected. So, either way, I declare St. Columba the winner. Thanks to all who joined in the fun. Word From Your Session

The congregation of Calvin Presbyterian Church is in good hands. Your Session is truly an inspired group, showing great wisdom and understanding for the needs of the Church and the community. I find it to be a joy to attend Session meetings, and I feel it is mutual with the other members. I love this Session! They are a "dream team"!

Continue to keep us in your prayers - pray that the Holy Spirit continues to be with us.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,I missed the deadline for the May issue of Calvin Comments, but “better late than never” has been a motto for many busy people, so here we are! Of course, I wanted to thank everyone for your prayers while I was so sick. Your help with tasks I couldn’t do, loving prayers, cards, and “get well wishes” worked wonders and thankfully I am just about back to full steam! Thank you each for caring! You did exactly what Matthew 25:36 says: “I was sick and you took care of me”. Love in Christ, Suzi Williams

The Food Pantry Needs HelpThe Food Pantry is in need of a willing worker to assume the responsibility of shopping for the Food Pantry. Is the Lord leading you to this ministry? If so, Suzi Williams at 583-1898.

NOTES FOR CALVIN COMMENTS /JUNE 2016

Suzie Williams needs help with shopping for the Food Pantry! She needs someone with a strong arm and back and a bit of time once or twice a month. She will be glad to give you a list of items as well as everything else you need. She is a dedicated volunteer leader in the Food Pantry work, but is physically unable to do the shopping. Please contact her to volunteer.

The Cub Scouts will hold a fund raiser car wash on June 11, and a Rain Gutter Regatta on July 16, both in the Calvin parking lot. Please come out and let these dedicated leaders and boys show you how they can both clean your car and demonstrate their boating abilities! The times will be announced for both events soon.

This is a new Security Measure: You may soon be asked to sign in and out if you are in charge of opening and/or closing the church for certain events. There will be a clipboard with a signing sheet attached near the Nancy Drive door. More from Tom Carreiro, the Calvin Chief of Staff and Security, will be passed on to us.

Did you know that Bill and Charlotte Harris spent several days in Europe on a Viking River cruise in April? Have you wished you could do that? Why not ask them about their adventure? Elizabeth Circle #3 has turned in 20 Hygiene Kits for distribution by Presbyterian Disaster Relief. Each contains a small towel and washcloth, soap, toothbrush, comb, band-aids, and nail clipper. These are given to victims of natural disasters – floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, etc., which have left people homeless and without any means to care for themselves temporarily. It’s a great cause and one that Elizabeth Circle has undertaken for the last several years, amounting to at least 100 kits.

Randa Gordon spent several days in the hospital after falling ill at work; she is now back to work and doing much better. Carol Brooks is currently in Leigh Memorial Hospital, being treated for anemia and several other problems.
