One year ago, a group of business leaders and city officials took the bold step of launching a proactive
economic development strategy focused on recruiting, retaining, and growing the business community
of Folsom. This strategy, entitled Choose Folsom, is based on three core areas of focus and investment
– business attraction, business retention and expansion, and marketing and communications – all
driving towards the creation of new direct jobs and capital investment in the city of Folsom. Along the
way, the Greater Folsom Partnership has added expertise and involvement in the area of small business
development and community development to the repertoire of Choose Folsom. With the leadership
and financial support of the city and valued Choose Folsom investors, much has been accomplished

business consists of, what their future plans are, and where assistance may be provided to overcome
impediments or take advantage of opportunities for future growth and success. In addition, the Folsom
Chamber of Commerce conducts neighborhood Business Walks on a monthly basis. With the help
of volunteers, these business calls provide an opportunity for a quick check-in and connection with
business owners across the city.

SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENTTo assist entrepreneurs and Folsom’s small business community, an effort was made to attract
Sacramento-based Urban Hive to Folsom’s Granite Center (former Granite Elementary School.) While
the Folsom Cordova Unified School District is reevaluating all options for this site, there is still a desire
to bring an important resource such as this to Folsom. While optimism remains high that this site will
remain a major contender, alternative sites and supporting resources are being sought.
We are proud to announce a new partnership that will bring small business development courses to
Folsom. Together with the Capital Region Small Business Development Center, the Greater Folsom
Partnership will co-host courses aimed at small business owners and entrepreneurs in the Folsom area.
With just one year behind us and four years to go in the execution of the Choose Folsom strategic
plan, we are well on our way to exceeding the goals that were set. In the year ahead, refinement of
the Choose Folsom website will be done, targeted external business attraction will be conducted, and
a digital communications strategy will be developed and executed as we continue the core activities
referenced above.
We extend our sincere thanks for the leadership and support provided by Choose Folsom investors,
City of Folsom elected and staff leadership, and members of the Board of Directors of the Greater
Folsom Partnership and Folsom Economic Development Corporation.
