Roger Conant r e t i r e d in 1973 a f t e r ab o u t k-0 y e a rs a t th e P h i la d e lp h ia Z o o lo g ic a l Gardens where he was c u r a to r of r e p t i l e s , p u b lic r e l a t i o n s head, and more r e c e n t ly , D ir e c to r .D r. Conant i s now a d ju n c t p r o f e s s o r o f b io lo g y a t th e U n iv e r s i ty o f New Mexico in A lbuquerque.
D r. Conant s p e n t much tim e and e f f o r t making th e maps a s com plete and a s a c c u r a te a s p o s s ib le . Three y e a rs o f r e s e a rc h tim e and co rresp o n d en ce were needed to d r a f t and document them .

Mrs. Conant was b o rn in S ta te n I s la n d , N .Y ., on May 17, 1901. For s e v e r a l y e a rs she se rv e d a s a r e p o r te r f o r th e S ta te n I s la n d A dvance, and in 1936 she jo in e d th e s t a f f o f th e newly b u i l t S ta te n I s la n d Zoo a s i t s b u s in e s s m anager and zoo p u b l i c i t y d i r e c t o r . In 19^2 she t r a n s f e r r e d to th e P h ila d e lp h ia Z o o lo g ic a l G arden. She i s su rv iv e d by h e r husband, D r. Roger C onant, A d junct P ro fe s s o r o f B io logy a t th e U n iv e r s i ty o f New M exico, and D ir e c to r E m eritus o f th e P h i la d e lp h ia Zoo, and by many n ie c e s and nephew s.
