PART 1 GENERAL 1.01 SUMMARY A. Section Includes: Furnish and install Aluminum Single Hung Windows complete with hardware

and accessories as shown on drawings and specified in this section. Windows shall match existing adjacent windows single hung windows to remain YKK AP YVS

410 TU ThermaBond Plus® Hung (Side-Load), or Equal approved by Architect. B. Related Sections: 1. Sealants: Refer to Division 7 Joint Treatment Section for sealant requirements. 1.02 TEST AND PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS A. Performance Requirements: Windows shall conform to all AAMA/NAFS 101/I.S.2/NAFS-02 requirements for the window type, meet all requirements of South Florida Building Code Protocols TAS 201, TAS 202, and TAS 203 and comply with the following specific performance requirements indicated. 1. Air Infiltration: Completed window systems shall have 0.30 CFM/FT² (5.5m³/h·m²) maximum allowable infiltration when tested in accordance with ASTM E 283 and TAS 202 at a differential static pressure of 6.24 psf (299 Pa). 2. Water Infiltration: With the sashes closed and locked there shall be no uncontrolled water leakage when tested in accordance with ASTM E 331 and TAS 202 at a static pressure of 12 PSF (575 Pa) operable, 15 PSF (718 Pa) fixed. 3. Static Load: There shall be no damage to fasteners, hardware, accessories, or any other damage that would render the window inoperable when tested in accordance with ASTM E 330 and TAS 202 at a differential static pressure of 65.0 psf positive and 65.0 psf negative. 4. Thermal Performance: When tested in accordance with AAMA 1503 and NFRC 102: a. Condensation Resistance Factor (CRFf): A minimum of 51 (Single Hung), 53 (Double Hung). b. Thermal Transmittance U Value: 0.50 (Single Hung), 0.53 (Double Hung) BTU/HR/FT²/ºF or less. 5. Acoustical Performance: Acoustical Performance: When tested in accordance with ASTM E 90

6. Life Cycle Testing: When tested in accordance with AAMA 910, there shall be no damage to fasteners, hardware parts, or any other damage that would cause the specimen to be inoperable. 7. Structural Requirements: Provide products/systems capable of withstanding wind loads based on testing units representative of those indicated for Project that pass AAMA/NWWDA 101/I.S.2/NAFS, Uniform Structural Load Test:

1. Design Wind Loads: Determine design wind loads applicable to Product from basic wind speed indicted in miles per hour (meters per second) at 33 feet (10 meters) above grade, according to ASCE, Section 6, based upon mean roof heights indicated on Drawings.

1.03 SUBMITTALS A. General: Prepare, review, approve, and submit specified submittals in accordance with “Conditions of the Contract” and Division 1 Submittals Sections. Product data, shop drawings, samples, and similar submittals are defined in “Conditions of the Contract.” B. Quality Assurance/Control Submittals: 1. Test Reports: Submit certified test reports showing compliance with specified performance characteristics and physical properties. C. Substitutions: Whenever substitute products are to be considered, supporting technical data, samples and test reports must be submitted in order to make a valid comparison. 1.04 QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Qualifications: 1. Installer Qualifications: Installer experienced (as determined by contractor) to perform work of this section who has specialized in the installation of work similar to that required for this project. B. Certifications:

1. Insulating Glass Units: Provide insulating glass units permanently marked with certification label of Insulating Glass Certification Council (IGCC) indicating compliance with ASTM E2190.

C. Pre-Installation Meetings: Conduct pre-installation meeting to verify project requirements, substrate conditions, manufacturer’s installation instructions, and manufacturer’s warranty requirements. 1.05 PROJECT CONDITIONS / SITE CONDITIONS A. Field Measurements: Verify actual measurements/openings by field measurements before

fabrication; show recorded measurements on shop drawings. Coordinate field measurements, fabrication schedule with construction progress to avoid construction delays.

1.06 WARRANTY A. Project Warranty: Refer to "Conditions of the Contract" for project warranty provisions. B. Manufacturer's Warranty: Submit, for Owner's acceptance, manufacturer's standard warranty document executed by an authorized company official.

1. Warranty Period:

A Non-prorated. Transferable from owner to the next.

B. Term: 10 years on glass.

C. Term: 10 years on non-glass parts.

2. Windows shall be warranted to be free from defects in manufacturing, materials and workmanship for ten years from the date of purchase.

3. The glass is warranted not to develop, under normal conditions, any material obstruction of vision resulting from manufacturing defects or as a result of premature failure of the glass or organic seal for ten years from the date of purchase.

Operable Windows: YKK AP YVS 410 TU ThermaBond Plus® Hung (Side-Load), Or Approved equal by Architect.. 2. AAMA Designation: AW-65 (Single Hung). 3. Description: The windows shall be extruded aluminum; 4" frame depth; Horizontal frame members run through notched vertical members, butted and mechanically fastened with two stainless steel screws per joint; Sash shall be field removable (side load) for installation and maintenance; Factory assembled. 4. Configuration: The windows shall be Single Hung. 5. Thermal Barrier: Provide continuous thermal barrier by means of a poured and debridged pocket consisting of a two-part, chemically curing high density polyurethane which is bonded to the aluminum. Systems employing nonstructural type thermal barriers are not acceptable. 6 Glazing: Exterior closed cell EPDM sponge glazing tape with silicone cap bead; 1" (overall) insulated units; Removable, extruded aluminum interior glazing bead with EPDM wedge gasket; Factory glazed. 2. Fasteners: All fasteners shall be AISI 300 series (except for self-drilling, which are to be series 400) stainless steel. 3. Balances: Select balance required for performance class in accordance with 101/I.S.2/NAFS-02 and AAMA 902. a) Class 5 High Performance balances shall be of appropriate size and capacity to hold sash in position and meet minimum .30 Manually Applied Force (MAF) ratio. b) Balances shall be attached to a locking carrier mechanism that slides on extruded rails in the jamb channels. 4. Weather-stripping: All weather-stripping shall be Fin-Seal or equivalent. 5. Screens: Screen frames shall be extruded aluminum, joined at corners, and finished to match windows. 6. Glazing Materials: Setting blocks, edge blocks, and spacers in accordance with ASTM C 864, shore durometer hardness as recommended by manufacturer; glazing gaskets in accordance with ASTM C 864. 2.04 Glazing A. All windows shall be factory glazed in accordance with manufacturer’s standards.

1. Glazing: Exterior closed cell EPDM sponge glazing tape with silicone cap bead; 1" (overall) insulated units; Removable, extruded aluminum interior glazing bead with EPDM wedge gasket; Factory glazed. Insulated glass type and thickness shall be in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations for design pressure.

2. Certification: Insulating glass units certified through the Insulating Glass Certification Council as conforming to the requirements of IGCC. Provide dual sealed units consisting of polyisobutylene primary seal and silicone secondary seal. Provide metal spacers with bent or soldered corners.

3.High-Performance Low-E4 Laminated Insulating Glass Units:

a. Operating Units: Laminated insulating glass units consisting of an outboard and inboard lite of clear laminated glass.

b. Glass - Fixed Units: Laminated insulating glass units consisting of an outboard and inboard lite of clear laminated glass.

c. High-Performance Low-E4 Coating: Magnetron sputtering vapor deposition (MSVD) Low-E coating applied to the No. 2 surface.

d. Filling: Fill space between glass lites with argon gas blend.

2.05 FABRICATION A. Frame: 1. Horizontal frame members run through notched vertical members, butted and mechanically fastened with two screws per joint into integral screw splines; Meeting rail notched at each end, butted and mechanically fastened with two screws per end into integral screw splines. 2. All framing joints shall be sealed with quality grade sealant meeting AAMA 803.3 to ensure water tight joint. B. Sash: 1. Sashes shall have notched horizontal members, butted and mechanically fastened to vertical members with two screws per joint into integral screw splines. C. Exterior and Interior Panning & Trim: 1. Exterior panning & trim shall be extruded clear anodized aluminum of profile and dimensions as detailed on approved shop drawings. Exterior and Interior panning & trim to match existing adjacent windows. 2. All joints shall be sealed with quality grade sealant meeting AAMA 803.3 to ensure water tight joint. D. Mullions: 1. Mullions shall be of extruded aluminum of profile and dimensions as detailed on approved shop drawings. Mullion shall match existing adjacent windows. 2. Mullions must provide adequate structural properties to resist wind pressure as specified herein. 2.06 FINISHES AND COLORS A. Clear Anodized Plus, Anodized sealing technology that completely seals the anodic film yielding superior durability (See AAMA 612). B. Anodized Finishing: Prepare aluminum surfaces for specified finish; apply shop finish in accordance with the following: 1. Anodic Coating: Electrolytic color coating followed by an organic seal applied in accordance with the requirements of AAMA 612-02. Aluminum extrusions shall be produced from quality controlled billets meeting AA-6063-T5. a. Exposed Surfaces shall be free of scratches and other serious blemishes. b. Extrusions shall be given a caustic etch followed by an anodic oxide treatment and then sealed with an organic coating applied with an electrodeposition process. c. The anodized coating shall comply with all of the requirements of AAMA 612-02: Voluntary Specifications, Performance Requirements and Test Procedures for Combined Coatings of Anodic Oxide and Transparent Organic Coatings on Architectural Aluminum. Testing shall demonstrate the ability of the finish to resist damage from mortar, salt spray, and chemicals commonly found on construction sites, and to resist the loss of color and gloss.

d. Overall coating thickness for finishes shall be a minimum of 0.7 mils. D. Finishes Testing: 1. Apply 0.5% solution NaOh, sodium hydroxide, to small area of finished sample area; leave in place for sixty minutes; lightly wipe off NaOh; Do not clean area further. 2. Submit samples with test area noted on each sample. PART 3 EXECUTION 3.01 MANUFACTURER’S INSTRUCTIONS/RECOMMENDATIONS A. Compliance: Comply with manufacturer’s latest product data, including product technical bulletins, installation instructions, and product carton instructions. 3.02 EXAMINATION A. Site Verification of Conditions: Verify substrate conditions are acceptable for product installation in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions. 3.03 PREPARATION A. Adjacent Surfaces Protection: Protect adjacent work areas and finish surfaces from damage during product installation. 3.04 INSTALLATION A. General: Install manufacturer’s system in accordance with shop drawings, and within specified tolerances. 1. Protect aluminum members in contact with masonry, steel, concrete, or dissimilar materials. 2. Shim and brace aluminum system before anchoring to structure. Install insulation in shim space around unit perimeter to maintain continuity of building insulation. Do not overfill. 3. Install units level, plumb, square, true to line, without distortion, anchored securely in place to structural support, and in proper relation to wall flashing and other adjacent construction. 4. Completed windows must allow water to be wept to the exterior; Verify weep holes are open and weep caps are installed correctly. 5. Seal metal to metal window system joints using sealant recommended by system manufacturer. 3.05 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL A. Manufacturer’s Field Services: Upon request, provide manufacturer’s field service consisting of site visit for inspection of product installation in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions. B. Field Test: Conduct field test to determine watertightness of window system. Conduct test in accordance with AAMA 502-02 at locations selected by Architect. 3.06 ADJUSTING AND CLEANING A. Adjusting: Adjust operating items as recommended by manufacturer.

The phrase ALL WORK means that the Contractor must provide every aspect of the construction process necessary to accomplish the task including but not limited to required demolition, removals, substrate preparation, fitting, shop drawings, material acquisition, storage, labor, temporary support, installation, testing, warranties, and etc. as necessary. FIVE PERCENT (5%) CONTINGENCY ALLOWANCE: The County of Atlantic will determine a Contingency Allowance amount, equal to FIVE (5%) percent of the lowest qualified Base Bid, that will be added to and awarded with the Base Bid amount. This Contingency Allowance shall be set aside to pay for any items that are unforeseen or additional work not in the specifications or shown on the drawings. Before any work is performed under this Contingency Allowance, it shall be approved by the Director of Facilities or his designee. Any work performed without this written approval will not be paid. Some Unit Prices are included in this Proposal Form to address potential Allowance Contingency work. Should other types of work be requested by the County, it shall be priced at a time and material basis with back-up receipts, invoices, etc. as requested by the County. c. Final Completion and Close-out (Project Completion Date) shall occur no later than twenty-five (25) CCD after Substantial Completion. This milestone deadline is seventy-five (75) CCD after Project Start Date.

d. The County will be allowed an additional thirty (30) CCD after the Project

Completion Date for County administrative purposes only, i.e. reviewing, approval and processing close-out documents and final payment to Contractor. This will bring the total project schedule to one-hundred and five (105) CCD from Project Start Date.

e. The County will apply liquidated damages of $500.00 (five-hundred

dollars) per CCD for any contract work that does not meet the project’s milestone deadlines, including administrative requirements, Substantial Completion, and Project Completion Date.

1. Remodeling construction work and patching is included within the respective sections of specifications, including removal of materials for re-use and incorporated into remodeling or new construction.

2. Relocation of pipes, conduits, ducts, other mechanical and electrical work are specified by respective trades.

1.3 SUBMITTALS:

A. Schedule: Submit schedule indicating proposed methods and sequence of operations for selective demolition work to Owner’s Representative for review prior to commencement of work. Include coordination of shut-off, capping, and continuation of utility services as required, together with details for dust and noise control protection.

1.4 JOB CONDITIONS

A. Occupancy: Owner will occupy areas of the building immediately adjacent to areas of selective demolition. Conduct selective demolition work in manner that will minimize need for disruption of Owner’s normal operations. Provide minimum of 72 hours advance notice to Owner of demolition activities which will severely impact Owner’s normal operations.

B. Refer to Summary of Work, Section 011000-1.

C. Condition of Structures: Owner assumes no responsibility for actual condition of items or structures to be demolished.

D. Protections: Provide temporary barricades and other forms of protection as required to protect construction and Owner’s personnel and general public from injury due to selective demolition work, or as required by the local Fire Department.

1. Provide protective measures as required to provide free and safe passage of Owner’s personnel and general public to and from occupied portions of building.

2. Protect from damage existing finish work that is to remain in place and becomes exposed during demolition operations.

3. Protect floors with suitable coverings when necessary.

4. Remove protections at completion of work.

E. Damages: Promptly repair damages caused to adjacent facilities by demolition work at no cost to Owner.

F. Traffic: Conduct selective demolition operations and debris removal in a manner to ensure minimum interference with streets, walks, and other adjacent occupied or used facilities.

G. Do not close, block or otherwise obstruct walks or other occupied or used facilities without written permission from authorities having jurisdiction. Provide alternate routes around closed or obstructed traffic ways if required by governing regulations.

H. Utility Services: Maintain existing utilities indicated to remain, keep in service, and protect against damage during demolition operations.

1. Do not interrupt existing utilities serving occupied or used facilities, except when authorized in writing by authorities having jurisdiction. Provide temporary services during interruptions to existing utilities, as acceptable to governing authorities.

I. Environmental Controls: Use water sprinkling, temporary enclosures, and other suitable methods to limit dust and dirt rising and scattering in air to lowest practical level. Comply with governing regulations pertaining to environmental protection.

1. Do not use water when it may create hazardous or objectionable conditions such as ice, flooding, and pollution.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS (Not Applicable).

PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.1 INSPECTION:

A. Prior to the initiation of work, the Contractor will walk the area(s) of demolition and become familiar with the job site conditions. The Contractor will report any potential problems to the Architect and Owner.

3.2 PREPARATION:

A. Provide interior and exterior shoring, bracing, or support to prevent movement, settlement or collapse of structures to be demolished and adjacent facilities to remain.

B. Cease operations and notify the Owner’s Representative immediately if safety of structure appears to be endangered. Take precautions to support structure until determination is made for continuing operations.

3.3 DEMOLITION:

A. Perform selective demolition work in a systematic manner. Use such methods as required to complete work indicated on Drawings in accordance with demolition schedule and governing regulations.

1. Demolish existing work in small sections. Cut walls, ceilings, and other work noted as being removed, modified, or otherwise altered at junctures with construction to remain, using power-driven masonry saw or hand tools; do not use power-driven impact tools.

2. Locate demolition equipment throughout structure and promptly remove debris to avoid imposing excessive loads on supporting walls, floors or framing.

B. If unanticipated mechanical, electrical or structural elements which conflict with intended function or design are encountered, investigate and measure both nature and extent of the conflict. Submit report to Owner’s Representative in written, accurate detail. Pending receipt of directive from Owner’s Representative rearrange selective demolition schedule as necessary to continue overall job progress without delay.

3.4 DISPOSAL OF DEMOLISHED MATERIALS:

A. Remove debris, rubbish and other materials resulting from demolition operations from building site. Transport and legally dispose of materials off site, in strict accordance with Local, State and Federal EPA requirements.

1. If hazardous materials are encountered during demolition operations, comply with applicable regulations, laws, and ordinances concerning removal, handling and protection against exposure or environmental pollution.

3.5 CLEAN-UP AND REPAIR:

A. Upon completion of demolition work, remove tools, equipment and demolished materials from site. Remove protections and leave interior areas broom clean.

B. Repair demolition performed in excess of that required. Return structures and surfaces to remain to condition existing prior to commencement of selective demolition work. Repair adjacent construction of surfaces soiled or damaged by selective demolition work.

Nonsmoking Building: Smoking is not permitted within the building or within 25 feet (8 m) of entrances, operable windows, or outdoor air intakes. 1.2.4. OWNER’S OCCUPANCY REQUIREMENTS A. Owner Occupancy: Allow for Owner occupancy of project site, building and the use of same by the public during construction period, with the exception of areas under construction. Cooperate with Owner during construction operations to minimize conflicts and facilitate both Owner and public usage. Perform the Work so as not to interfere with Owner's operations. This 105 CCD schedule includes the following milestone deadlines: 1. Delivery of all Submittals to Architect/ Engineer within fourteen (14) CCD of Project Start Date. 2. Substantial Completion shall occur no later than fifty (50) CCD from project Start Date. A Temporary Certificate of Occupancy (TCO) or Certificate of Occupancy (CO) must be issued by the authorized jurisdiction as proof of Substantial Completion. The architect will also issue a letter to the County upon acceptance of work upon Substantial Completion. 3. Final Completion and Close-out (Project Completion Date) shall occur no later than twenty-five (25) CCD after Substantial Completion. This milestone deadline is seventy-five (75) CCD after project Start Date. A CO must be issued by the authorized jurisdiction as proof of Final Completion. 4. The County will be allowed an additional thirty (30) CCD after the Final Completion date for County administrative purposes only, i.e. processing the final payment. Note this thirty (30) CCD clock does not start until ALL closeout-documents have been received, reviewed & approved by the County. This milestone deadline is one-hundred & five (105) CCD from Project Start date. 5. The County will apply liquidated damages of $500.00 (five-hundred dollars) per CCD day for any contract work that does not meet milestone deadlines, including but not limited to administrative requirements, completing punch list items and/or corrective work, submittal of complete close-out documentation, etc. 1.2.7. WARRANTIES A. This project will require a minimum of one (1) year general warranty on all parts, materials, installation and equipment used. The start date of the one year warranty will be that of Final Completion. B. In addition, certain specific materials, equipment and installation will require extended warranties the will include repair or replacement for five (5) years or more as identified in the bid documents. Examples, though not limited to, are heating & cooling equipment/units, deck floor coating, etc. These extended warranties will have the start date of Final Completion. C. The project close-out documents shall list all warranties, start and end dates, and appropriate contact information for repairs and/or replacement of materials and/or equipment. 1.2.8.
