What does the Keys to Life say?

• New 10 year strategy to drive forward change• 52 recommendations across 162 pages!

3 key themes:• Human Rights• Health• Collaboration

Human Rights• 2 x recommendations in the Keys to

Life• All public bodies to carry out

equality impact assessments by June 2014

• Localities promote participation of people with learning disabilities in decision that affect them; and promote their rights.

40% recommendations on Health

• Scottish Learning Disability Observatory at Glasgow University

• Health screening programme for people with learning disabilities

• Access to healthy lifestyles – making good choices

• Access to universal services; communicating worries/symptoms

Collaboration

• Of all 52 recommendations, only one is solely for local authorities

• The rest involve varying degrees of participation and working with other agencies.
