Swapmeet – The 2019 Financial Acquittal has been submitted with the costs over $8,000. The 3 years up re Shire Budget. A further application has been submitted to the Shire of Northam for consideration and continuance of the Community Event Grant .The booking of the Oval for the 2020 Event has been made and about to be finalised. Moved: Rob Bell... Seconded: Anne Barton… That the reports be accepted Carried New Members: Perry Brown (Rose Bullough) …of Kalgoorlie, with a 1972 Mazda RX3, restored & unlicensed. A classic car enthusiast, Perry’s objective is to complete any restoring or updating of the Mazda and attend car shows. Moved: Craig Pollack… Secnded: Rob Bell… That Perry Brown be accepted as a Member of AVVVA. AIF Carried WELCOME to our Club…… Perry Brown GENERAL BUSINESS : VALE:- to Bob Betts. Have now been advised that we have lost another Member, John Mackay of

Sawyers Valley, we believe in February. John’s pride and joy was a 1926 Essex which is still in the Club and almost still on site. Club Rules: re Member attendance @ Meetings/Events per annum. Part of any Club’s Objectives is to

support their core existence, in our case, an Historic Motoring Club. Besides providing ongoing avenues of maintenance, promotion of Events/Shows and encourage enthusiasts to attend, there are General Meetings to be held. When signing the application for Membership form the Applicant states they will abide by the Rules and By-Laws of the Club. The Club constitution has been updated and shortly the By- Laws will also be updated. Research for the future of the Club is continuing, details soon.

Northam Vintage Swapmeet- The venue for this Event has become quite restrictive with Public parking

space, and ongoing constructions. However due to the Oval size/placement and the accessibility of the Site in general the decision has been made to continue at this location. The Committee were very proud of how its Members and Volunteers worked hard and coped with this year’s situation.

Northam-Avon Hospice;- 2019 Items presented on Tuesday 23rd April were 4 Wheelchairs and 6

Walkers. Presentation made by President Jim Donovan, Treasurer Theo Bekkers, Vice President Barry Bristow-Stagg and Secretary Sylvia Bristow-Stagg. Report and photos will be Northam, Toodyay and York papers, and Newsletter.

“Code 404”:- Contravening of Rules & Regs. – Modified Vehicles on 404 Concession -

A number of files showing pictures and other details of heavily modified vehicles that are apparently on Code 404 concessional licence. The question is how could this happen. It was explained that there is no longer an annual inspection in many Clubs, so the Clubs would not necessarily know if the vehicles were modified after licensing. BE ADVISED that each of those owners will receive a letter requesting that the vehicle be presented for an inspection within five days. Failure to comply will see the matter referred to the Police. Dept of Transport will also be investigating whether the Clubs involved are condoning the behaviour or complicit in licensing modified Code 404 vehicles, and that could result in the withdrawal of their concessional approval.

Harley Davidson:- It has been brought to our attention that the Harley may be undervalued. The insurance

is about to be renewed. Fred Singleton advised he would have the value of all vehicles checked and adjusted. Club Regalia/merchandise:-In discussion as to mandatory attendance at 2 Meetings or Events per

annum, a suggestion was made re stickers or badges in car windows with a photo of same. Research of same is to be done by Bronwyn, including further merchandise for shirts, polo shirts, caps and bumper badges.

Christmas Luncheon:-Suggestions made-Summer Creek, Bakers Hill, drinks on site. Avon Brook, Clackline, limited to house wine only. Look at Spencers Brook. Also costs to be looked at and as Bronwyn reminded Members that although the function is at end of November we will need to make a decision next meeting and book.

There being no further business, the President closed the meeting at 11.30am

The Next General Meeting Sat. May 18th, 10.30am @ The Nuthouse, Grass Valley South,

A group of Members will be leaving the AVVVA Clubrooms @ 10am sharp.

A flow-on effect continues enabling us to provide support to the Hospice. Our Northam Vintage Swapmeet is a Community Event, and due to the support of the Shire of Northam, Avon Waste, other Sponsors and dedicated Members it was successful again this year, Yan Yi, Acting Clinical Nurse Coordinator of Avon Hospice (Palliative Care/Cancer Support Services/Chemotherapy Unit Northam Hospital), on behalf of the Hospice Clients and Staff expressed deep appreciation and gratitude for the much needed wheelchairs and walkers. They will certainly enhance the lives of our Clients and enable the Hospice to continue to provide a quality service of palliative care to the people of the Avon Valley.
